Since this signing is kinda meaningless since this guy nelson could not crack a NFL lineup until now. Would "Trader Mike" have done something by now? He did not give up much for Holmes(5th) and Bray(3rd). 2 guys that had a big impact during our 2 playoff runs that ran a game short of the SB.

I just am wondering if this guy IZDIK is the real deal? He did nothing but draft a injury prone CB and Sheldon who we all like a lot. But lost revis for him. I was against drafting a CB in the first if only cause he will always be compared to revis. What else is Izdik doing/did for this team so far?

I think it's a real good signing. The reason Nelson and a lot of other vets did not crack NFL rosters is because of money not skill. Teams now prefer going with non vested players who they don't have to pay as much as veterans. They seem to think they can get as much in terms of no star players from these guys over guys who have been in the league a while. Esp at positions like Wr. Even though many experts say that Wr is the one position players take the longest to learn how to play the game and the hardest to evaluate (before the drarft). A lot of Wrs also get cut because they can't play special teams which is a skill in itself. We've come to the point where we just need guys who can get open and catch the ball. Nelson has some NFL stats.

Didn't Landry blow him up last year and put him out for the season?

No doubt the Jets have one of the weakest WR corps in the league. At least Nelson brings a big body and different skill set to the WR corps over smaller guys like Gates, Kerley and Holmes. It takes more than one off season to rebuild depth which was Tanny's downfall. Can't rebuild every position immediately.

Expect the WR position to get the same attention next year the O-line got this year. Winters, Oboushi and Campbell were drafted to develop for the longer term and Colon and Peterman brought in as cheap FA's for the short term. With plenty of cash next year they can throw some money at 1 or 2 WR's in FA and draft at least 2 guys.

I'd really like to see what Spadola can do. It's times like this that you wish he played in other games so he would be up to speed.
I don't remember seeing him since week 1.

I agree! The wisest time to judge a new GM is less than a year into his jobs free all.

David Nelson is a solid signing good stopgap for this year. I don't see him sticking on the roster long term though.

Wonder how this guys blocking is. Maybe he can transition to TE if he turns out to be a keeper.

He was the only guy who wanted the job. Who else could we have gotten? He never ever been a GM before. He has not proven nothing and YES it starts from day 1. How is ivory working out? How did goodson? The only good RB we got tanny drafted. Izdik wanted tavon but dropped the ball and got leap frogged by ST. Louis. I am sure he could have moved up a spot for him.

    I. Sure after reading that you are either 12 or trolling to fuck. If you seriously think you judge a GM 4 games into season one you need to get your fucking head checked.

Handed what he was, Idzik is well on his way to cleaning up a bad cap situation. We have a good amount of picks for next year. We filled holes with inexpensive stopgaps instead of trading away all our picks for a quick expensive fix. Cleveland traded up to get Richardson that one spot, how did not trusting thier board and drafting for need work out?

You need to go cheer for the redsikns. That snider quick fix program is doing wonders for them and has been for a decade.

Not sure what all the fuss is about. Cheap interim/temp signing. that fills a need, doesn't cost us anything, and he may contribute.

What is the alternative - Bray? if he was so much better I am sure he would be back but the versatility on ST is more important.

tanny's quick fixes is what got us into this thin roster mess, gave up a 5th for holmes and than had to sign him to a over priced contract. would have been nicer to have developed that pick and have the low cost labor on the roster.
gave a 3rd for bray for 2 years. if it was a 3rd round pick who was only here 2 years we would call him a bust.2 draft picks gone with 1 player taking up 2-3 players worth of cap space left on the roster. wonder why the roster has holes?

now what is idzic doing for this team? he is taking the medicine tanny was ducking and clearing the cap and getting the age and structure of the roster back to better proportional level. he is setting up to be comeptitive for years without having to make knee jerk reactions. he is building depth not grasping for stop gaps.is it going to make this year a tough one? probably, but tanny kept pushing the bills out another year and now he is not here to deal with them.

First of all trader mike is the reason our team is go depleted in the talent department right now. What he would have done was traded a second or third round draft pick for some washed up, big name reciever on the last year of his contract. This would have given us marginal results in a season that any reasonable fan knows was a wash from the get go. He then would have given said washed up reciever an over blown salary. This would have screwed us double....one less draft pick and less salary cap money.

What this guy Idzik is doing is letting this rebuilding period play out. So he can perje this team of all said overblown salaries. This will give the money to add talent in the future when we have a chance in hell of being successful. And this is exactly what our team needs.

Does it really matter? Its not like this is a playoff team. Hell, its not even a .500 team.

He's a big target. With Gates and Kerley as our other receivers, it doesn't hurt to have that big possession receiver to complement them, which hopefully Nelson can be.

I don't get the comments bashing or making fun of this. We needed receiver help and Nelson is a good solid option. Has plenty of experience and plenty of talent. Cheap veteran. Look what Edwards turned into for us. No one signed him, so we took a chance and look how he panned out in those two solid years. This could be something really good. Let's see what he does
