Comes down to players like Ducasse today not getting it done and when he gets beat, he starts to hold and do some stupid penalties. The guy is awful, its time to let this pick go down. I had high hopes for Vlad coming out of UMass and initially liked the pick but he has not figured it out and probably won't ever.
Didn't you get the message about sexy women posts? No Pics, no breasts, no hot girls. Delete this picture now or I will.
Google doesn't like attractive, marginally clad women. If you had given this perhaps 5 secs of thought, you might have remembered that my avatars were some of the sexiest on the site. The site makes money from Google. Google doesn't approve of women showing any hint of sexuality. You don't play by Google's rules, you no get the money.. Savvy?
Most of it is on Rex, and the OL coach, and the D coaches, etc. That push-up bullshit during practice is stupid.
What it comes from is holding a QB competition when you should be installing a new O with a new OC. We are working out the kinks on the fly.
Rex lost control of this team two years and admits it. Now its going on three seasons and he still can't control this team. He has no clue of offense, special teams, clock management and just needs to go.
The penalties have been disgusting... but just curious, I don't remember Rex ever saying he has no control of the team and basically has no idea about anything other than defense. lol
I just want to set the record straight here. I think this is a damn good team, despite yesterdays debacle. I love the defense, and the offense has actually been a rather pleasant surprise. Geno has impressed me too, despite the turnovers and yesterdays rookie showing, and even the coaching staff seems to be doing a good job, except for this one issue. My gripes are not about lack of talent, poor gameplanning, or lack of effort. This is a problem that exists because the team doesn't play disciplined football. The OL is especially bad when it comes to concentration and discipline. Kyle Wilson's meltdown last week? Lack of discipline. This problem shouldn't exist, not even at the pop warner level. The Buffalo game should have been a romp, but instead it was tied at one point, because of discipline. This is a good football team that would be a lot better if they stopped shooting themselves in the foot. A 3rd and 14 conversion called back because of a penalty robs the team of momentum it gained on a great play. I don't think there is any way we could have won that game yesterday, but who is to say? I was a big supporter of firing Rex last yeat, but no longer. I think he has it in him to win a Super Bowl, and and willing to give him more time as this teams HC. One of the problems Jets fans have is that as soon as there is a rough patch, they want the entire CS canned. One of the main ingredients to having a good team year after year is organizational continuity. If you have high turnover in the organization, you will never be consistently good. Yes, there is areas that Rex needs to improve, like game management. But he will improve in those areas. If he doesn't after a few more years, then can him. But he absolutely needs to find a way to get these penalties down. Maybe a change at the OL coach position is on order. And we obviously need to address a couple positions on the OL next year in both the draft and free agency. In fact, I think it is the highest priority, even moreso that WR. So this isn't a post demanding Rex's head on a spike, it is a call to the coaching staff to find a way to get these guys to play with some discipline, and to concentrate on the task at hand while they are on the field.
The past couple years he has had no control over this team at all. That was why I wanted him canned at the end of the season. I am actually glad now that he wasn't {see my previous post as to why}. That appears to still be somewhat of an issue with the way this team racks up penalties this year too. If he cannot get this done, then he absolutely will have to go at the end of the season. And I think that would be a shame, as he has some excellent qualities as a HC. But a team playing with this level of lack of concentration is just not acceptable.
Just curious, exactly what evidence is there that Rex lost control of the team for the past 2 years? I keep hearing the rhetoric but nobody refers to anything specific. Pretty much every time anyone criticizes Rex it's just generalizations. What we have here is one of the youngest teams in the league. Generally speaking, when you have a younger, more raw team learning a new system they will commit more mistakes and penalties. People are too quick to blame one person or the other. Give this team some time to gel.
The Jets are known as a penalty heavy team now -- refs will look to call anything. The personal foul call wa sa joke, the facemask on colon was borderline, the non calls on the titans (check out the hold on the OL on Washington's TD catch) will happen because refs are focused on the Jets. The pre-snap penalties are hard to swallow -- the illegal shifts can be raced to a backup not being in position. Stephen Hill went down and 15 comes in and gets hit twice. Geno Smith doesn't have the ability to direct traffic and receivers have to be be able to do it themselves.
So, if stuff like the push-ups is stupid, what's he supposed to do? Kidnap the players' families? Fuck, you're stupid.
You are absolutely right. It lies with the people making the penalties not the people standing on the sidelines. Do you want him to wipe their asses too?
