Well they sorta played spoiler w/o helping the Nats. Took 2 of 3 from Cinci including an good pitching performance by Dice K who actually hasn't sucked his last 3 starts. Sadly I had Latos in my fantasy team who goes 7 gives up one earned and gets 7K's. Hoping Ervin Santana gives me a W tonight. I actually considered picking up Dice K today and decided there was no way he pitched good against a team fighting for playoff positioning.
Daisuke turned it around after three awful starts. Still have no idea why he's on the team, though. Considering he's still gotten lit up in the majority of his last 20 MLB starts, there's no way you can justify starting him in fantasy.
Today is more like it..... let's pull for the Brew Crew to bust out the brooms especially considering they are only one game behind us.
Right now they're in a 3-way tie for 9th/10th/11th with Milwaukee and Toronto - anyone know how they break ties? Tampa Bay is still fighting for the wild card, but Toronto beat them yesterday. It might be expecting too much for them to keep winning.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_League_Baseball_draft#Draft_order So the 2012 records I found an article talking about the Mets specifically
That's good news for the Mets - it means that unless they sweep this weekend from Milwaukee they're okay.
As expected, Collins gets a two-year extension. There is certainly little evidence of a sense of urgency with this team. Hey, if you're looking to win around 75 games a year, Terry Collins is your man! http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on...contract-extension-with-manager-terry-collins
Yeah seriously, I want Backman. Also, you guys are right. The Mets would have to win their last two games to NOT have a protected pick.
Now our worthless owner needs to open up the checkbook. A lot will be riding on the health of Harvey. If he is good to go they have a good young nucleus of talent at the top of the rotation as well as guys like Flores and D'Arnuad. If Ike is back my freaking head might explode though. Let him go hit .220 with 20 HR's somewhere else. He's no Adam Dunn.
there is another issue beyond competency with keeping Collins rather than hiring Backman. Beyond the fact that the front office absolutely hates Backman and will not hire him to their own detriment, Wally deserves the job because he is a Met, plain and simple. as a Mets fan there are only two teams with historical significance -- the '69 and '86 teams, and as such the players on those teams need to be part of the organization at any capacity if they deserve to be. as an '86 Met and a hell of a Manager, there should be no other person on the planet considered for the position, and not hiring him is a slap in the face to history of the Mets and every fan whose interest in the Mets is part of the history. the current ownership doesn't give a shit about the Mets history or its fans, and in return the Mets fans should say fuck you to the ownership and the team. once the team decides it doesn't give a shit about its history and wants to be its own entity separate of that history, it is no longer the team I root for other than in name only. I will pass. go Dodgers.
Just announced that Harvey is going to undergo Tommy John surgery, and is of course out for 2014. Sigh. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...harvey-elects-surgery-elbow-article-1.1476728
