Look at the stats of Favres year with the Jets, then his season before and his season after.

Then consider that was Schottys best OC year ever.

Rewatching that play on coaches film. McKnight starts in the backfield to the left of Sanchez and is motioned out right. Linebacker that ends up covering Kerley (I think it's Spikes) appears to be blitzing based on cadence then backs out. Ends up covering Kerley to the inside (who is running an curl that turns outwards). Deepest safety is 15 yards deep, with Ihedigbo just 10 yards off. Sanchez's first read is to the left where he has Plax running what looks to be a curl or just a lazy route, but unfortunately the receiver inside him is being covered to the outside with zone coverage, making a throw that way risky. That other receiver appears to be running an out route, possibly just an outward curl (though he appears to stop once the ball leaves Sanchez's hands). Kerley is running an outward curl against inside coverage from an LB, which is a nice mismatch. Looks like Sanchez goes for that matchup.

Unfortunately it looks like McKnight isn't in the progression or too far along to make a difference. When pausing, there's a chance WFH and the pass rusher on that side are also in Sanchez's passing lane to McKnight when he decides to release the ball. I'd need to watch the whole game to see how WFH was handling himself that night, but I doubt Sanchez had any trust in the guy at that point, and with the types of routes being run it was made for a quick read and throw anyway. It's tough to truly say either way, but had he held on to the ball to the point where he moved on to McKnight, Ihedigbo may have had enough time to break on the ball, or just make it a similar gain except to another receiver. The only chance anything good could have really come from that play was if Burress was meant to run a go route or deeper back shoulder fade, since the deep safety was beginning to move to the bottom of the screen.

Man, it's depressing watching stuff like this from 2011. Putrid play all round there.

What's even more hilarious is that Jets fans are shitting on Schotty while Titans fans are shitting on Fisher for the way the Rams offense looks.

Went to a Rams fan message board out of curiosity and there's a Fire Schotty thread.

    LOL.

The one and only. Seems like a lifetime ago when he was actually thought to be a future QB after getting him at a supposed bargain in the mid 2nd round.

The grumbling begins regarding Brian Schottenheimer

Posted by Mike Florio on September 27, 2013, 2:35 PM EDT

The defense isn’t the only thing some Rams are disgusted with in St. Louis.

Before offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer was hired by the Rams, he had become a pin cushion in New York. After crash-landing on his feet when the Jets were ready to move on from him, Schottenheimer put in a solid effort last year for a team that generated a surprising record of 7-8-1.

This year, the Rams are surprisingly bad. Per a league source, players on offense are starting to grumble privately about the coordinator.

In each game this year, the Rams have fallen behind by 10 or more points. In one game — the opener against the Cardinals — St. Louis came back and won.

The Rams currently rank 30th in per-game production, with 301.8 yards per game.

With the Rams ready and willing to sign quarterback Sam Bradford to a long-term deal, someone has to take the fall if the losses continue to pile up. Based on the noise currently coming from the locker room, that someone could be Schottenheimer.

    /florio still sucks

I remember players saying that Shotty would trot out a book full of new plays each week and run through them once, *ONCE*, in practice during the week. Bad enough to have a playbook full of shitty, overly complex plays. Introducing droves of them each week and only running through them once guarantees failure. Shottenheimer is the Muck Sanchez of offensive coordinators.

I thought it was funny, but that is obviously not a playbook he is looking at.

It's the stills from the last series.

I thought getting a fresh start would help Schotty, seems like the Rams are getting a little frustrated with him.

I do think Bradford isn't play very well either

That's the funny thing about Schotty. He will never get a job coaching a good QB going forward. Rightfully so.

So the failures of middling QBs will never get blamed on him, and he will continue to get jobs based on his last name.

Bradford posted career highs in every relevant statistical category. Let's wait and see before we throw Schotty under the bus.

I think it's more damning to consider the fact that they pretty much abandoned Schotty's playbook while Favre was here, went basic and let him change plays as he saw fit.

I'd rather have Brett Favre as an OC than Schottenheimer. And Favre is a dipshit.
