The team played well today. How do you knock the coach after a 2-1 start with a rookie QB that many said is not ready for the NFL? How do say it was one of the worst coached games when the Bills couldn't move the ball and the Jets had 500 yards of offense??? Ryan needs to make better use of his challenges and the rest of the CS needs to hold him back sometimes when he wants to throw that flag. While he took the blame for the penalties in his presser, most of those penalties were stupid and not because the players were beaten or burned.
You forgot on that E.J. fumble it wouldn't had matter if Jets had a challenge. There was a holding call on the Jets on that play.
Sick of the Rex haters. The challenges were terrible. But does the D get no credit for 8 sacks???? And I will be fair and not even give him credit for the offense, which was tremendous!
rex was absolutely fucking brutal today. very very poor job. yes probably the worst head coaching job since sperm was here.
He basically lost control of his players. There were even a couple of rough plays the refs didn't call but could have incl. one by David Harris in the 4th quarter. His challenges esp the first one were awful. It was obviously not a first down. If he hadn't challenged the Jets might have been able to then challenge that non fumble call and maybe gotten it reversed. Great D plan with the young guys a force all day. But 20 penalties is embarrassing. Can't beat the good teams with this kind of stuff going on. On the other hand his players on D are violent and scary and have gotten the notice of coaches and players in the league. And you can hang that on Rex who always gets his guys to play for him. It will be interesting to see if they can game plan against it. When you blitz too much you leave open receivers. We saw a little of this today in the 2nd half. But I'm not complaining about the D like you said it's about the head coaching.
Show me one HC that spear-heads all three phases. What does McCarthy do for his defense? Why does it feel like he is the OC instead? Why does it feel like Sean Payton is the OC in New Orleans? Why does it feel like Jim Harbaugh is the OC in SF?
Let me put it this way, a win is a win. Let's save all the Rex sucks and we need to fire him talk for after a loss. The Giants lost again and we are 2 and 1, I could not be happier right now. I'm a Jets fan, I'm just neurotic like that. The football gods are smiling upon us today my brothers.
Twenty penalties isn't going to reflect well on any coaching staff, but I'll give Rex the benefit of the doubt since we won.
Some are really missing the point here. What idiot is going to say anything about the defense? Rex is struggling this year because he is taking over the defense. His clock management sucks...his challenges today were borderline bizarre. And to the idiot who said you do not yell at a player coming off the field after fucking up and possibly costing you the game..what the fuck planet are you from. Great coaches call out players all the time on the field. Wilson selfishly almost cost this team the game...and somebody should have laid into him on the sidelines. AGAIN....I LIKE REX...but those defending his game management this season compared to in the past and dont see a fall off....thats blind love...good luck with that. He better start acting like an HC and not a DC because one screw up can be the difference between 8 wins and 9 wins and now thats two games...TWO GAMES...his game management has been poor. And another thing....I posted this thread right after Wilsons fuck ups....and its nice in hindsight for all of these very calm and cool jets FANS after the win to react like others are overreacting. If that Jets had lost this game after how that played out in the second half....many would be calling for his head.
christ...here we go again...he is the HEAD COACH..NOT THE D.C. nobody is saying the defense sucks...the defense is great..and yes because of him. IF anyone thinks that he isnt struggling this year with timeouts..challenges...clock management...etc....you are all saying that because we won today...and you all would be the first to scream bloody murder had we lost.
On the two sideline challenges, on the first challenge the Jet receiver got the first foot in and the 2nd foot scuffed the sideline with no great re-play footage, but the call went against the Jets, "No catch!!!". On the 2nd challenge, the Bills receiver got one foot in and the 2nd foot scuffed the sideline with no great re-play footage. Result? "Catch!!!". I guarantee tonight's refs will not be in the post season. But Rex will.
and Im not being sarcastic here Slim...but I have read that many times...Im the biggest bitch about calls but what exactly is everyone pissed about with the refs? The last Wilson personal foul when he just seemed to step over the guy? I really want to hear about all of these horrendous calls that somehow play into defending Rex at the same time. Wilson for example has not turned and seen a pass coming since his college days.
no...Rex first challenge was a running play that the whole world saw the first time was a yard short no?
1) He had one poor game with clock management, and two with 0 errors. 2) Challenges were bad, not sure who makes the call, but I blame Rex on both. 3)Depends on how the player reacts. You don't rip a player who handles just being explained/shown the pics/ etc by yelling. You rip a player who responds well to that. Not everyone responds the same, some players just tune out the coach once the coach gets angry. 4) Do you know nobody laid into him? Because Wilson came back into the came, made a key tackle, and some good passes defended. I think he bounced back well from his poor drive, somehow the coaches or himslef got his head straight. 5) There hasn't been a fall off, his struggles this year are challenges tihs game and clock management a game before. The same struggles we have had before under Rex. 6) I don't think his management has been overall poor in two games.
I had two issues today, neither of them a big deal but both a bit troublesome. 1. When Geno threw the pick to the linebacker the first thing I thought was "that's two mistakes". The read was bad but snapping the ball with the play clock at 18 and a two score lead was definitely not the right move. The Jets were not in the appropriate offensive flow for a 20-9 lead in the 3rd quarter. Every play should have been going down below 10 seconds on the play clock at that point and yet Geno kept snapping the ball at 15+. That's on the head coach. Gotta correct that in the game when you see it happening. 2. The back-to-back challenges felt like panic moves to me. You were up 20-6. Now it's 20-12 and you start challenging plays that have a low percentage of getting overturned. 20-20 is where that's headed and that's where they wound up.
That is correct, but I was commenting on the two sideline catches. They seemed identical, but both went the Bills way. If the first challenge was ruled 'incomplete', then the 2nd challenge should have been ruled the same.
The biggest potential problem was taking the late holding penalty making it 3rd & 24 instead of 4th & 14 I don't get that one, but no one asked him about it
All you naysayers are gonna hate it when our next coach stinks worse then rex. Good gameplan in the first half and the second we were playing solid till we let them get into it. I think rex was happy to be up 7 and knew his defense would finish the rest. Sloppy is more like it. But 8 and almost 9 sacks a game. I will take it. His defense shut the jills down after that TD and 2 pt convo.
How is a H.C. responsible for all those penalty's? I am done. Cannot argue with fans that blame the coach for penalty's ans INTs
