Just a little bit of craziness here. The chances of him even getting in are getting thinner and thinner. If he does get in that leaves a slight gap between starting and being useless and being one of the top 2-3 QB's of his generation. Don't worry about putting Brady to shame. I'd be happy if he could come in and be a good starting NFL QB. Would also be fine with Simms never getting a shot if Smith is even that.

How about we give Smith more than a 2-3 game audition????????? The way you avoid the bottom of the standings is by drafting and grooming a talented player to be a successful starting QB in the NFL, not by playing some kid who could not even hold down a starting job in college. You also don't win by changing QBs as often as you change underwear. Simms isn't going anywhere. He'll likely be there in training camp next year even if he doesn't play this year. Sanchez is a goner. The only question is whether Smith shows enough to avoid having to draft another QB in the first or second round next year.
This is a self-inflicted issue for the Jets. Matt Simms should never have been in camp let alone on the opening day roster.
