Johnny Manziel is nuts if he comes out next year. He stays one more year at Texas A&M and he has a shot at being the #1 pick. He could get hurt and he could slip some but he isn't going to be the first QB taken next year and maybe not in the top 10 overall.
Well he did say he couldn't wait to leave College Station and he seems to be doing everything he can do to get kicked out, don't see any scenario where he returns to A & M next year. _
i think he is as good as gone and if all things remain with his performances he will be top 10 material - likely top 5.... geez could u imagine him in green/white with rex staying on. the media would die for this.
thats my gig so far i think his ceiling will be limited despite him being a very good athlete. whether its his funky release, stubborness to run, and/or accuracy/precision - i dont think these negatives will disappear with expanded playing time. we'll see its just 2 games but come weeks 9, 10, 11 i need to see him display a bit more escapability and accuracy downfield.

I like Geno i like Geno a lot, way more poised than i thought he would as a rookie so far, but if Johnny Football is available with our first round pick, we pick him. This guy is special, beyond special, he's not a Tebow type and can throw way better than Tebow. He's six feet,and no does not have a rocket arm, but that can be improved. He just has IT, i saw every play of the game against Alabama and if A&M had any kind of a defense they win easily.Think Brees with Kaepernicks running ability i think he'll be that type of player.
The big red flag for me on Manziel is that he's very dependent on his legs. I saw Drew Brees play at Purdue and I really don't think Manziel is in the same tier as a passer. Brees just lit up defenses with regularity and those defenses didn't have a guy detailed just to spy the QB the way Texas A&M's opponent's do. Manziel could carry his whole game over to the pros but I think it's just as likely that he can't handle the pounding he'd take running as much as he does. Then the question is whether he's enough of a passer from the pocket to be a star in the NFL? He really needs another year in college to answer some of those questions. Doug Flutie was a truly great player at Boston College but it didn't carry over into the pros. Ditto for Tebow at Florida. Johnny Manziel could easily be in that class of athlete.
I can see Manziel being a turnover machine just as much as I see him succeeding. He is a hell of a risk. Part of me just doesnt see how his magical plays translate to the NFL (like the play vs Bama where he evaded a rush threw it up for grabs in the middle). At the same time he does have a ton of talent. Thats not even considering his character "concerns".
That play was cringeworthy, looked like Sanchez on that decision. The fact that he completed it was probably a bad thing, he can't be doing that in the NFL. My biggest issue with him is his arm, but he's still extremely young- not even 21- and Dilfer was talking about him this am about how he is going to get stronger and his arm should get better, much like how Brees continued to get stronger and develop arm strength as he got older. Said his arm is so much stronger now than it was at Purdue. _
I would be very surprised if a team takes Manziel in the first. He really fucked himself with the off field issues. No team wants to invest 30 million and a franchise in a "kid" "having fun".
With the rookie cap in place, how much of a difference is there between Manziel coming out in '14 or '15 ?
But it's not $30 million anymore. 10th pick got $12 million total, the 25th pick got $7 million total. He's kind of a knucklehead but he hasn't gotten into any real trouble, worst thing he did was show severe immaturity. Flip side is he's 20. If he puts up production like last year I could see a team taking a shot at him mid-to-late first round. I know Romo signed the big contract, but if he leads the Cowboys to a 7-9 record, you don't think Jerry Jones doesn't take a shot on the local Dallas kid with the big name? Romo IS 34. _
If you were to assume he's the number 1 pick in '15 and number 25 in '14, it's about $15 million total over 4 years. Not sure $$ is his total motivation, his family is fairly wealthy and he's probably already made $100K signing autographs :grin: I think he wants out of the college game, irrespective of draft position. _
There's a real difference between being in the realm of a 1st round pick and being projected as the first QB taken and in the top 5. If the people advising him aren't sure he's going to get drafted near the top or pan out as an NFL QB then he doesn't lose much if anything by staying in college another year. If it pushes his pick up higher then he's going to get a real compensation boost on what might be his only NFL contract.
Aaron Murray might go number 1. kid throws and plays like payton manning. I wouldn't mind the jets getting him. Manziel is gonna come out this year. Kid is money hungry. Teddy bridgewater can throw but only ran for like 4 yds last year. That is terrible. What happens if he needs to escape the pocket? Teddy is gonna be the bust out of all them and murray is gonna be the sleeper.
Johnny football is gonna be good no matter what. Aaron murray has "peyton " written all over him and Carr is gonna be good too. That's my order 1) manziel 2) murray 3) Carr
Lol, have you ever seen Teddy play or do you just look at stats? He can run just like Geno, he just chooses not to because he has a much better arm, is more accurate, has a quicker release and is constantly scanning downfield. Rushed for 40 yards this weekend because he was constantly getting flushed. A total athlete. Again, I like Murray but he's not going anywhere near 1. He's not in the top 4 maybe 5 QBs taken. _
