The Jets are also a much better team then people give them credit for (32nd power ranking). I'm not worried about our defense at all, if anything it's the unknown of our rookie QB that should concern you. It's either going to be an amazing surprise Sunday or a doom and gloom mentality after the game. I am not predicting we go 2-0 and I think we have a slow start to the season but I think this team gels after the first quarter and become serious contenders. I'm very optimistic for this season. Here's hoping for a competitive season!!!
I share this opinion. We can only be better then last year. Better QB(right?) Better OC(right?) More Depth(right?). We should be competitive all year barring injury.
The one thing we had to do was make our offense look like it can move the ball effectively. Will it have growing pains? Definitely, but I think we have done about as much as could be achieved in this area given our cap position and existing roster. Will that translate into a better record? I'm not so sure on this. I'll take 1-1 after 2 and 8-8 at the end of the season right now.
Well said.... The Jets are not as bad as they are being made out to be. While the offense should be of concern, I think they will rally around Geno and perform well on Sunday.
imo i think 1-1 not sure wich one we will lose, but dont think 0-2 at all. but there is a good point made our defense is very good against the pass but not so much against the run that combined with doug martin doesnt smell good. But we will see what MM has to give us with his offense looked good on preseason.
If we can win this game Sunday, and Geno gains some confidence, I do not see why we cannot go into Foxboro, and squeeze out a W. If the Jets get creamed Sunday and Geno throws multiple picks, Thursday night is going to be ugly... Its all about momentum.
At least 1-1.. I don't see why we can't beat the Bucs... Get pressure on Freeman, force him to make bad throws, and we win this game. MM will have a simple gameplan for Geno with safe throws that get us down the field.. Don't be surprised though if you see Geno take a couple of shots down field early.. CAN'T WAIT!!
I want nothing more than to win on Sunday and stick it to the media douches, but I have a bad feeling about a couple things: 1) Our suspect run D vs. Doug Martin, one of the most explosive RB talents in the game. 2) Milliner still has to get his NFL feet under him. Yes, he has tons of potential, but right now they are going to pick on him. Him and Wilson both. 3) Which Geno shows up to the game? Confident, poised Geno of training camp, or deer-in-headlights vs. Giants Geno? If the latter, it could be a long day. Do I think we have a real shot to win week 1? Yes. Do I think we have a real shot to win week 2? Yes. We plays the Pats strong, and they have shown some chinks in the armor. That said, I think there is more of a chance we go 0-2 or 1-1 than 2-0. 2-0 is a bit delusional at this point considering the issues I highlighted.
The bipolar-ness is pretty funny. I'd love for you to be right, even if the team kind of falls apart after the fact. If they could make things fun for even a few weeks I'll be happy.
Of course we can. I just see the Bucs as a much better team than they're getting credit for. I think our run defense will be fine this season, but Doug Martin Week 1 is a tough task. We can simplify the gameplan all we want but the Bucs will do the same. I'm betting on Geno to make the big turnover instead of Freeman.
soxxx proclaimed that the Jets wouldn't win a game with Geno at QB. Then soxxx proclaimed that we would go 2-0. Looks like we're going to be 1-1.
i agree. if he plays a solid mistake free game on sunday, then we are in MUCH better shape come thursday. and im not looking for him to throw for 300 and 3tds, i just want him to not turn the ball over and make smart, non sanchez like decisions. like dont force balls when no one is open. take the sack if you dont have a chance to throw it away. dont be affraid to run if you have a lane. things like that.
