This is what I am hoping for... McElroy needs to get away from the Jets. The organization doesn't realize what they have and the fans on this site definitely do not!
Sadly...that is the best thing that could happen to McElroy... The Bengals wouldn't be a bad place to be. I worry that Simms is going to pull something similar. I can see him telling the Jets he'll work with his existing one year deal this year and bolt next year for, no pun intended, greener pastures and a shot to actually compete for a starting job elsewhere. If I were him that is what I would do...
I don't know... We know Sanchez is 99% likely to be gone after this year. We know that Geno hasn't shown he's ready yet. IF Geno doesn't show anything, I'd think Jets camp would be a good place for him to be. A reasonably legitimate shot at starting. We only invested a 2nd rounder in Geno, it's not like he was the #5 pick overall. For comparison, Kellen Clemmens was a second rounder as well, and the previous regime didn't take all that long to give up on him either.
McElroy had a few sparks but couldn't produce a fame when he got his chance to start. He used his brain too much and overthought everything. Even though I won't miss him, I would rather have McElroy as a Jet over Smith.
not all of them. the mezz and I are amongst those who wanted to have simms, McElroy, and smith on the team, while jettisoning the taco. at least now you can see a history of dumbass moves by the team. cutting woodhead for a ravens reject. good thing this bunch wasn't around when chrebet came in as ufa. a friend who is a packers fan thought picking up Harrell was stupid. now, they cut a lb to bring in an ot who's had 2 knee surgeries in 2 years?
Simms is probably with the only team in the NFL that will give him a backup QB spot for the next season or two. It's possible that somebody else picks him up as cannon fodder, the way the Jets did, and that he then impresses them enough to make the cut as a backup but I doubt it.
I'd kind of like to know by what rod of experience do you base that statement on?? I certainly hope you aren't using the Jets Front Office as your barometer considering they've successfully crapped every QB they've ever drafted down the toilet. That's pretty much a team wide fact ever since Namath. :rofl2:
Looks like The Bengals disagree with this statement,he is meeting with them today from what I read on NFL network,Mclroy has been injured all summer ,not that I'm a Mclroy guy but how's he suppose to compete on the sidelines fella
They just invested a first rounder on Manual. I highly doubt they'll give up on him and give Simms a chance to legitimately start.
I think he meant with Kolb's concussion and Manuel's injury and the possibility of starting Jeff Tuel on Sunday.
Danny Watkins cut by the eagles. Kid was a mauler in college. Wonder if they'll kick the tires on him.
No it isn't, McElroni's arm is the same weak little pop gun as Pennington after 2 shoulder surgeries. Weeeeeeaaaaaak.
QFT... He through a sideline pass, I went, got a beer, took a leak and on the way back I heard them say.. "Incomplete"
Ha! Maybe they should have kept him. He could throw a clue up into the air and our beat writers could catch it near the end of the season.
Did Mcelroy make the Bengals squad? I like Bell too, but I think we are starting to get a log jam with the number of RB's here. Wouldnt surprise me if we resigned him once Ivory gets hurt. You know at some point that is bound to happen.
