They play in the NFL to win the SB so if you do not win the SB you are automatically a loser no matter what your W-L record is which exactly is what we are been doing now for 44 years now & counting

I really don't think the Jets are going 0-16. I do forsee a top ten draft pick and imminent coaching changes.

Some of these responses are laughable. It's random venting stemming from years of frustration most attributable to previous management.

We use the present tense to make a point about something that happened in the past. We blame current management for the mistakes of someone else. We criticize Iszick for his inability to draft talent, as if we had one ounce of fact yet, on and on.

Are we frustrated from years of hope with no results? Hell yes. But anyone that remotely thought this season was "plug a couple of holes and we are SB bound" was not very realistic.

I said it before, many times on this board, as well as many others much more knowledgeable than I. This year and next year are focused on retooling or rebuilding this team, like it or not. We must rid ourselves of bloated contracts for over the hill or overrated players and start building thru the draft. We must find the answer to QB albeit through trial and error. THIS WILL TAKE TIME.

OUR WINS AND LOOSES WILL BE A FACTOR OF HOW WELL THE YOUNGESTERS jell. But not all is dark and gloomy. We have a great OC, a no shit game plan designed to win games, a very promising defensive line, a group of wide receivers and TE that can make plays, and a running game that will surprise a few teams.

If you don't want to give this team and Idzick a chance and at least 3 years, then keep bitching about the sins of the past, get brained washed by a two bit imbecile like Metha and a worthless rag like the Daily Scandal, fire everybody, overpay for players that we think could make us win now, mortgage the future, and fall in the same trap, while the real winners are patiently building through the draft. This will guarantee more years of misery, and we can commensurate how well Cincinnati, the Colts and others are coming alone.

I for one, think this season will be exciting and very telling were we go from there, from the coach to the QB and the future drafts.

The funny thing is that many on this board and in the media have proclaimed that the Jets are a joke. The team sucks, the ownership sucks, the front office sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck. Yet through all of that the Jets have been an above .500 team even since Parcells left the Jets coaching ranks. If all of the above are so bad than what other variable has allowed the Jets to be an average team over the last 13 years (since Parcells left)? The cheerleaders?

This is not to say that there haven't been many glaring mistakes (of course there have been). The Jets are not a model franchise, but they aren't a joke. They are an average franchise since Parcells left - no more, no less.

Now I know that isn't good enough for many here. However, that's reality and the "woe is me" attitude can get pretty thick here sometimes.

Be careful. A lot of the haters are trolls from other teams. Look at the members that have joined this month for a good indication. They are flooding in this year instead of Teboners. Strange.

For example, there's no chance this guy is a real Jets fan. It's laughable how they come with these tired old cliches and nonsensical rants that no sane Jets fan would ever say. I just don't buy it, much like that RexMustGo guy. The site is getting trolled. We need Walter White to step out of the shadows and set these guys straight.

of course this has been a classic battle on here forever. all the sunshiners accuse the people that are tired of the shit show of not being real fans. please tell me what i said that wasnt true...if we come out and have a great season i'll happily admit I was wrong but we're going to be flat out awful and theres no getting around it. i wish it were different but thats the truth right now

When you resort to cheesy catch phrases and avoid any meaningful football discussion beyond "This dude sucks!", it becomes obvious who the trolls are. Just saying.

If you aren't a troll and seriously feel that way about the team, perhaps football isn't an ideal form of entertainment for you. Stress = bad.

This is an interesting thread...Jets fans taking other Jets fans to task...over media driven perceptions and overreactions. <sigh> How typical New York Jets fan of us all....

I'm definitely guilty of a spot of overreaction. It is human nature, when we do not have control of a situation, for people to overreact to what they see. The overreaction is a compensation mechanism.

I do take personal exception to the "Chicken Little" reference as I do not see as many folks wailing "The Sky is Falling" as I do fans who are still predicting at least a .500 season.

Also, I do see a VERY HOTLY contested debate about QB which I find is highly warranted. We have 4...excuse me, now 5, quarterbacks on the roster. Outside of Sanchez you can take their collective accomplishments and fit them in a 32oz. Big Gulp. If you include Sanchez you step up to the 64oz. cup. His 2 AFCCG not withstanding you have to take recent events into account. Same goes for the rookies. I don't care if they came from a 10 time national champion or Joe Schmucatelly State. The minute they were drafted, tried out or traded for all that college crap went bye bye too. Just telling you like it is.

The last time I checked the coaches do not play...they do not miss tackles...they do not forget their assignments...they do not blow their technique...they do not misread defenses and they do not turn over the ball. I never.....NEVER...EVER heard in a locker room, that I was in, hear a player call out a coach and say "he didn't coach me good enough." EVER!!! Something makes me feel that those calling for Rex Ryan's head haven't been Jets fans all that long...that or they have amnesia...let's review real quick on a couple points:

    1) if you think Rex Ryan's clock management is bad then you never watched a Herm Edwards team
    2) Dealing with the media and blow ups...look to Herm Edwards teams or worse...NO information when dealing with Mangina...or how about the blank looks that Coslett used to deliver
    3) Rich Kotite....ALL OF THE ABOVE

What does Rex Ryan have they all do not? A winning record! God forbid. Off with his head!!!!

The NY Media has been a freak show for years. Always has been...why would anyone expect anything less this year? Baseball the Mets are the whippin' boys, Hockey it's the Islanders...football...the Jets. Has been since Namath and always will be. If you don't like what they have to say then ignore them. I love the way Rex handles these clowns. They are the real circus...not the team. This team wouldn't have HALF the ridiculous press if they were in Kansas City or Jacksonville. You can mark that down and take it to the bank.

Finally...we seem to go through this on this message board every season. Everyone blows things, both good and bad, out of proportion...but it always settles down...for the most part. Let the season rock and roll and let's see where we end up.

BTW...Champ...you WILL be waiting another year for a SB Trophy so you can just simply stop watching right now and save yourself the disappointment of being let down again since that's your only criteria for success.

As a Rex Ryan supporter, I agree with most of this. I agree with about 85% of this. I bolded parts I disagree with.

Call me wildly optimistic if you want, but A.) I never believed in "rebuilding" or tanking in the NFL. Case and point, Vernon Gholston was a top 5 pick, and Wilkerson was drafted outside of the top 20. B.) I think the jets have improved in three out of the four, possibly four out of four areas that killed us last year. I remember when people were hailing Stephen Hill as a Calvin Johnson clone after last year's draft, and I got slammed for saying this dudes raw as hell give him a year. He could be poised for a breakout season. The interior line is vastly improved, which will help the much better feature back in the run game, and I love moving Q (hope his injury doesnt keep him out long) to a spot where he can do what he does and that's destroy QBs... Which he was doing until he got hurt. Starting Davis also adds much needed speed to the linebacker position. I think we've improved, and if somebody can be a solid QB this is a team with way more potential than last year.

I also think the Pats might be on the verge of a humbling season. I mean I know Tom Brady is Jesus Belicheck's God, and New England's the Holy Spirit, but they lost ALL of their weapons (Aaron Hernandez even lost his murder weapon... Sorry, had to). And Brady's not looking like himself either. If this DOES happen, the window's wide open.

But what's going on with Geno is definitely a cause for concern. Three teams with rookie QBs made the post season last year, and all those QBs earned their stripes in the preseason. The NFL is totally different beast and you have four games to get your shit together. The fact that he missed 2 flubbed 1 and idk, is he going to see any action in Philly? That's troubling to me.

    Huh?
You don't believe in rebuilding? So just keep adding good pieces to a broken machine, that's how you would do it? I suppose at some point it would end up being fixed, for a short time.

NOT rebuilding PROPERLY has been our teams achillies heel in the first place and I don't think we've ever 'tanked' a year, come to that I don't think any team has or would do.

The NFL is too flukey for teams to tank. A bad team could come out and win 5 games in a row. Any given Sunday. Any team that tanks for a rebuild is not a real team, IMO. The Jets are not rebuilding. Yeah, we had to replace Keller & Revis, and let Demario take Scott's place, and we added a couple new RBs, but that's not a complete rebuild. We have the same QB, and our best players aside from Revis & Landry are all still here.

I don't always agree with him, but this post is on the money.

we all want things to work out, and win a ton of games/trophies.

what you want vs. what you end up with is the difference that counts.

By my count, this is about the 39th rebuilding year out of the last 44. Maybe you can understand how that can get a little tiring after a while.

    ^that.

    Rebuilding doesn't exist.

And, FWIW, morningwood, is the difference.

Rex routinely, despite personnel, fields top 10 defenses.

This is his, and Sanchez first shot with a real OC.

Less than 9 wins is an embarrassment.

The issue thats been holding this team back, Since Rex got here...has been the OC.
