If Farve is here in 09 and 10 along with the same talent Mark had around him the Jets win at least one superbowl out of it.

you guys are nuts. he couldn't even get to one w/ more talent in Minnesota, he was old and beat up in 2010 yet we would have won a SB.

we didn't lose either title game b/c of the offense, if Brett could have stopped our D from choking we could have won.

Mark has 3 career postseason INTs, 4 career postseason TOs. In ONE postseason game Favre had SIX INTs.

Right and at 26 years old Favre was a Super Bowl champion. While your boy at that same age is competing for a starting job. Favre is a first ballot hall of famer, your boy when it's all said and done will be remembered for the buttfumble. Favre led his team to 6 straight post season appearances in the 90's. he was a multiple league MVP. Favre has had far and away more postseason success than Sanchez can even dream of.

It's a fact that Favre asked for his release immediately after Rex pulled the trigger on drafting Sanchez.

Whether Favre would or would not have returned to the Jets otherwise is speculation. I believe he would have come back for one more year.

He went on to have arguably one of the best years of his career in MINN.

If you got Minnesota Favre here in 2009 the Jets win a Super Bowl for sure. 2010 he was done though. And like others have said it's hard to project you'd have ever gotten the Minnesota Favre here given we were just a stopover for him.

The way I remember it is Favre actually asked for his release beforehand (maybe this was in Rex's book) and was told he'd be released if the Jets got a QB in the draft, which they did so they let him go. I do remember he 'retired' weeks before the draft in any case.

    We're comparing post season stats?

    Between Sanchez and Favre?

Their careers shouldnt be put in the same sentence, but we're going to cherry pick some playoff games? These arguments make zero sense.

No he wasn't, he was 27 and how many did he win after that?

in the div rd they had a PR TD and another long PR that set up another TD, they played a 2nd yr expansion team in the title game, they faced Drew Bledsoe led team in the SB. In 3 games their D allowed 16 PPG and they got 2 STs TDs. In our 2 PO runs our Ds allowed 19 PPG and 18 PPG and we never saw a STs TD.

Oh and we didn't have a disruptive force like reggie White either.

Favre is an all time great reg season QB but did it mostly in a weak division and when the bright lights in January came on he was hit or miss- mostly miss.

he wasn't coming back, he told the Jets that which was why we moved up to take Sanchez. it lessened the blow to the fans after we drafted Sanchez so PR wise he "asked" after we drafted him.

Minnesota Favre threw away their chance at the SB, why do we think he wouldn't have done that here?

If Favre put up his 2009 numbers with the Jets, the Jets win the division, secure a bye and he throws a bad pick in the title game- you'd blame the entire season on him becuase of your preconceived thoughts/beliefs of Brett Favre the player. You are out of your mind.

if he did all that and threw a bad pic to cost us the title game it would mean it wasn't his fault? oh so as long as you put up great reg season #s and make the playoffs everything else is ok, it doesn't matter what you do in postseason? that is the most asinine thing I have read on here in a while.

by the way, NE would have found a way to beat us out anyway.

the games mark cost us were the NO, Buf and NE games. We still lose 2 of those 3 w/ Favre and NE rested starters in week 17, if they needed to win they would have so they would have won division.

we are just a little over a week away from regular season sanchez bashing!

The Jet defense was much better than the Viking defense that year (about five fewer points allowed per game).

Favre has one more SB than Sanchez. Favre is a future hall of famer. To even compare them is lunacy.

in the div rd their D gave up 3 pts, the lowest amount our D ever gave up was 14.

w/ score tied 14-14 Minny STs set up favre at the 10 w/ 1 min left in the half. Favre then botched the handoff on 2nd and G from the 4 and they got no pts.

w/ score tied at 21, Favre throws INT on 2nd and 8 from NO 34

then w/ score tied at 28 in long FG range he threw another INT

but yeah, it was the Ds fault.

I am not saying mark is better but I'd trust 2009/2010 postseason sanchez over postseason favre any day. In 2008 favre had a team nearly as talented w/ a much weaker sched and no Brady to deal with and he couldn't even get us to the playoffs, in 2009 Sanchez as a rookie helped us get to the title game.

all-time great post. A picture (or in this case, two) really is worth a thousand words.

I think we would have been potentially great in 2009. Giving Favre a defense as good as our 2099 unit would have been unprecedented. I also think Rex would have been the perfect personality for Favre at that stage of his career. He would have let Bret do whatever he wanted and Favre would have given us a big effort. I still say that if he didn't get hurt in 08, we would have found ourselves in another AFC Championship game.

The only concern with Bret would have been whether or not he fucked up a big playoff game with his legendary propensity for game-changing interceptions.
