I know the Brett Favre era ended badly with the Jets right after they beat the Pats in Foxboro...Damn that win was great. However, the next season we got Rex/Sanchize...Great start to those two years together, but things have been rough Anyways, does anyone here feel like if Rex was head coach of the Jets while Brett was still the QB that it would have been a recipe for success? or ultimate disaster? I think Rex and Brett's personalities are made for each other.
Brett never wanted to be here, it would have been another forced year here and we would have gotten similar results probably missing the playoffs and if we made it we would have lost earlier b/c of his TOs.
The supporting cast/defense was great with Rex though. That could have helped. Best defense in the league in 2009
Junc thinks Mark Sanchez is a better Quarterback than Brett Favre  We'd have probably won the fucking Super Bowl with that roster, Brett Favre without a torn bicep, and the #1 D.
The supporting cast was nearly as good in 2008 and despite a weaker sched, no Brady(and from what I a hearing today a better coach in Eric Mangini) we couldn't even make the playoffs.
he had a better roster in Minnesota, was he holding the Lombardi? he had better rosters in an average year in GB and only won one(thanks to beating an expansion team in the title game and a KR winning MVP in the SB).
Blah blah blah. Brett Favre is better than Mark Sanchez. End of discussion. His average year in 96 is an unrealistic year for Sanchez.
oddly enough, Brett Favre won the biggest game of them all, and he also almost took a Vikings team to the Super Bowl. Although, yes he had one terrible pass in that game. Gunslinger Brett...It's Russian Roulette with him
he did but the MVP was a KR or Gb would have had a great shot to lose to a HUGE underdog NE team then a year later they lost to a huge underdog in Denver. Brett gets credit for "almost" taking a team to the SB but mark doesn't? did Mark's D hold an opponent to 3 pts in the div rd? did Mark throw an INT that cost his team the game in either title game?
I was thinking about this myself. I think the only "what if" game I played was if Rex had asked Brett to hang on another year while Snatchez or someone else was on the bench. While Brett's gun slinging probably would have got us into some trouble, we had a ridiculous running game w a qb that could just about throw and was mostly unknown. Have Brett would have kept 8 out of the box most of the time. This could have given Snachez time to groom and bang Jenny Sterger in the process
Rex and Favre would have took this league by storm and won. If he did that good with Sanchez throwing 20 picks, I think Favre would of got us to the big game.
favre didnt really think too highly of schotty iirc, so, in this scenario im going to imagine that schotty was let go as well, and in that case, i think we would have won a sb
Living in the past! Love it. Anyways.. Tough to say. I'd likely say same result/maybe a trip to the Bowl with a loss. Jet Favre never wanted to be here.
