Just in time for the playoff push! Mets signed RHP Daisuke Matsuzaka. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/mlb/776/daisuke-matsuzaka The news comes via CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, who writes that Matsuzaka "is expected to go right to the big leagues." Dice-K was released by the Indians on Tuesday after posting a 3.92 ERA and 95/39 K/BB ratio in 103 1/3 innings at Triple-A Columbus. He is doubtful to carry fantasy-relevance in New York.
straight out of left field surprising and I don't understand it. Low risk but the rest of the teams didn't want him on their roster, for obvious reasons. Next move is to bring back Johan Santana. What a rotation. Santana, Daisuke... oh wait, it's not 2008 anymore Some other guys the Mets should go after: Chipper Jones, Ryan Ludwick, Carlos Delgado (bring him back?), Albert Pujols, Josh Hamilton, Lance Berkman, Milton Bradley, Ryan Howard, Mike Mussina, Brandon Webb, Tim Lincecum, Roy Oswalt, Ted Lilly, Ryan Dempster, Ben Sheets, Brad Lidge, and K-Rod (wait, Mets already tried that one).
This gets even better. Daisuke is pitching on three days rest. He just started on Monday night against Norfolk.
Three days rest ? Way to give away a game . If they are so afraid of their young pitchers pitching , why don't they just bring up minor leagers ?
Scherzer vs Harvey will be the first time in Major League history that the two All Star game starters will square off in the regular season.

Matt Harvey has a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing elbow. He might need surgery and will no doubt not pitch again this season. Unbelievable. http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/mets-matt-harvey-has-torn-elbow-ligament-1.5959526
Just saw this, absolutely sickening as a Mets fan.... I feel bad for the kid because he would have had a legit shot at the Cy Young next season and more importantly it almost certainly will impact his career.
The Matt Harvey news is so depressing. It's times like these I'm just so grateful for the Jets. Oh, wait thinking about them is depressing too. At least I have the Knicks. Oh, wait again.
On the bright side, Wheeler, Niese, and Gee are a pretty good trio of starters to build around. Add in that Rafael Montero is doing this between Double- and Triple-A: 149 IP 133 H 38 BB 142 K .236 BAA 2.90 ERA Doubt we'll see Syndergaard, but add in Jennry Mejia and maybe Carlos Torres and starting pitching is still the teams strength next year.
My friend asked if this could anyway be a smokescreen so they can shut him down without getting any bad press. Obviously if this got out could be even worse so I don't think there is any smokescreen.
