Of course its an int but it was catchable and he had possesion of it and he let the defender rip it out of his hand, bad job
I thought the one he threw behind Spadola was the worst of the bunch. I want to go rewatch them, but the one to the d-lineman he just didn't read that it was a zone blitz and the lineman was going into coverage. It's a rookie mistake that can be fixed (unless you're Sanchez). I thought the other one sailed a bit high on him, and maybe he was thinking about the blitz presnap and got excited. Another rookie thing that maybe he could get under control with playing time.
LOL!!!!! That is classic and, it would seem, oh so true!!! I think the biggest thing I was looking for in Geno tonight was not "slug" play. Does anyone know what I mean? When Nacho plays it almost looks as if he is playing in glue. Geno appeared the same. Watch the game from tonight...Geno/Sanchez looked like they were muddling through glue. Simms came in and, for whatever reason looked like he was playing faster. Maybe it's just me and I'm not seeing things right? You know, I watched the Seattle/Green Bay game right before tonight's Jets/Gints game...watch Russell Wilson...it just appears that he is moving FASTER in all aspects than our two "potential" starters. Weird...
yes he was and I said with the 1s. Tonight he played with no ones so w/e to the rest of your post. Point of this whole thing is that Sanchez is the clear 1. Geno needs to sit for a year.
I noticed that, too. The receiver had some nice separation and probably could have gotten another 5-10 yards on the play, if he had received the ball in stride..
The first pick that was behind the WR was a good decision, bad throw. That can hopefully be fixed. The second pick was a blitz, he rushed a throw and tried to do way too much and couldn't step into it. The third pick was clear rookie mistake. Locked into a receiver before snap, stared him down, and completely misread the coverage.
I was hoping for something at least mediocre, with as many touchdowns as turnovers. Of course you'd like to see Geno Smith come out and be Joe Montana, but I would have been happy if he was just reasonably efficient.
Rookie, 1st game, the o line blows, he wasn't good, he'll get better, Sandwedge is this bad in his 5th year
Let's not overlook the play of Matt Simms. He plays extremely well for a so called rookie, great arm, makes really good throws, and so far hasn't made the bone head play. I know it's early but he's looked very good when called upon. jf
You bet!!! And against the SAME 3rd stringers that dismantled poor Sanchez and caused him to fumble a snap and leave with a hurt shoulder!!!
i feel like some people don't fully understand what we have with geno. the mistakes he made can clearly be helped as he stares down receivers too much and looks too giddy in the pocket. also, his starting position on some of those drives were god awful, especially on the safety. look, im not defending geno as he didn't play well tonight, but through experience and reps, i truly believe he can be a viable QB for this team. don't shit on the kid because of one night, like joe flacco, jay cutler, russell wilson, eli manning, and other QBs have also played pretty shitty this preseason
That's fair. I was honestly hoping for no turnovers from him. That's it. Not because I believe that report that it would have won him the job but just because I am so sick of seeing Sanchez turn it over if we could have got an indication that Geno was better in that regard it would have been refreshing. I know it is just one preseason game so I won't jump off any buildings yet, but that was what I was hoping for so I'm kind of disappointed on that end.
No one is saying throw the "Baby out with the bathwater." What we're saying is he looked nowhere near ready to take over this team in game one of this season. What we ARE saying is neither did Nacho. Further more...what I am saying is Matt Simms, with the exact same players Nacho had...against the exact same players Nacho failed against, looked better than BOTH starting QB's. Call it what you will but Matt Simms came in and lit up the exact same fools Sanchez couldn't handle. THAT tells me something.
He looked pretty good again. When he came in the game I was thinking he was the only player the whole stadium was going to cheer for.
Rich Cimini @RichCimini 31s Sanchez will have MRI tomorrow. I'm told his shoulder is very sore. #Jets
