Awesome night for Wheeler.... 6 IP 12K's....waiting for the bullpen to blow this one. He won't get the W as he got nu support and left with the score 1-1.

I'll be pissed if I drive to SD to see Harvey have 10K's and get a ND. BTW already prchased my tickets.

Mejia on Saturday and Harvey on Sunday.....

I get what you say re Choo..just feel he fits the Mets plans..

Great all round performance last night....defensive play was stellar in OF...really seeing the benefit of not trying to have Duda play OF.

Wheeler has a real heater....hope he continues to improve his off speed pitches in the winter..we really will have a 1a and 1b partnership..

Anyway bring D'Arnaud up and lets enjoy late Aug / Sept!!

I'm ok with instant replay, but not the one their thinking of implementing. The challenge system sounds like a nightmare.

To me the most important thing is to get it right, but Collins is right that this could affect things like the neighborhood play at second base in unintended ways. If a shortstop or second baseman needs to make sure they step on the bag with the ball on a double play, sooner or later someone is going to get seriously hurt as a result. You'll also see lots of middle infileders getting spiked on attempted steals if the swipe tag is eliminated from games as a result of replay.

Travis D'Arnaud has been called up as John Buck will leave the team to be with his wife for the birth of their child. D'Arnaud will make his debut tomorrow (well tonight for most of you) in San Diego and I'll be there!!!!

they just said on SNY that D'Arnaud is listed as 6'2 225.

He looks more like 5'11 190.

He is now 0/5 with 5 walks. .500 OBP, .000 BA

It didn't even seem like he made contact, looks like he is going to have quite an adjustment to the bigs although to be fair he saw probably the two best pitchers SD had in Volquez and Stults. His catching was even a little suspect.

I missed what happened to Mejia, I was getting a hot dog and as I was walking up the stairs back to my seats I saw the training staff out there. I knew as soon as Aardsma came in it was over, the same when Terry left Feliciano in there for his 2nd inning we were doomed.

My son got Justin Turner's autograph before the game and I got some good pics of Harvey. Will have to post. For the record SD might be one of the most fan friendly ballparks in all of baseball. I have been to Petco a few times and I love it. I am gonna try to make another game before the end of the season.

I've seen the Mets play SD 4 times in Petco and once at Jack Murphy and we got a big sombrero in those 5 games. At least yesterday wasn't the walkoff grand slam I saw KRod give up a few years ago. Still can't believe the Padres scored 2 runs off infield hits... disgusting.

Well, at least d'Arnaud won't end up with a lifetime .000 major league batting average.

And Ike looks more and more like Dave Kingman - capable of impressive moon shots, but usually a complete waste.

That might have been the longest homerun I've seen hit at CitiField.

Haha! I never watch the postgame show on SNY. Is Bobby fucking Valentine there often, or did I just get lucky tonight?

Wheeler has been very good lately, I feel very good about having him and Harvey leading this rotation. They are no Bill Pulsipher and Jason Isiringhausen, that's for sure.

Josh Satin ties Steve Henderson's team (rookie?) record in getting on base in his first 29 starts of the season.

Could be just a Mets rookie record because I noticed Henderson was also a rookie when he did it.

    a deal with the devil?

Lagares made a hell of a play today in center.

And Satin hit a solo homer.

    Mets blow it

Niese shaken up after hitting Heyward in the face, allows two straight hits

then a questionable call in the top of the 10th allows the braves to keep hitting, leading to a 3 run homer by Johnson, as good as a walkoff

Murphy was due to lead off the bottom of the inning, but he got ejected for arguing with the ump.

Heyward out 4-6 weeks with a fractured jaw. Their playoff opener would be about six weeks from today.
