That is the problem with Jets fans. They are ridiculous. If this is a real competition, Sanchez literally has won it easily. Geno has done nothing. He also got hurt. If it was flipped around and Geno looked average, Sanchez was hurt, no one would care or say MARK DESERVES TO START WEEK 3! It is more of a hate of Sanchez, than anything else.

Geno got bullshit playcalls against Detroit and did not play against JAX...The calls he did get against Detroit he went 6-7 and looked pretty accurate.. MM said it himself that he didn't let Geno loose and the next time he plays, he will get to really sling the ball.. How has Geno done nothing? He has played one time...

The point is, Mark has looked better, to this point. Geno went 6 for 7, but it was more than vanilla. Pro-Geno starting guys need to have him start vs. the Giants. That is my point. You continuing to argue Geno should start, is completely due to your lack of faith in Sanchez, not Geno's ability. We need to see how he plays.

How has Geno done nothing? He has played one time. You answered your own question. If Geno didn't turn that ankle, who knows he might have had some different calls in Detroit as the game went on, but the sample size is way too low to proclaim him starter or even close to it. He'll need at least one very good preseason game to secure it. At this point, Sanchez is the clear favorite. It's pretty hard to deny that without blinders on. He's only really dominated Sanchez once in TC thus far, and had a few days were he was slightly ahead. The rest of the days were mostly Sanchez based on what I've read. People don't like to hear the truth, but he's way ahead right now.

Mark Sanchez has not looked better to this point. He's looked like a bad NFL QB and he's done it under the low pressure of pre-season football.

I just don't understand why people do not get that a QB who has 2 or 3 bad drives a game is just killing his team's chances to win. Literally killing them.

Sanchez handed the Lions 7 points early last game. He took at least 6 points off the board against the Jaguars in the first half. These are not trivial details. They not "oops, my bad". They're the things wins and losses are made out of and Sanchez has cost the Jets a bunch of wins over the four years he has been starting for them.

Sanchez has shown himself to be the same guy we saw at the end of last year, erratic.

there is def a window open for Geno against the Giants.

if the pro game hasn't slowed down enough for him yet then Sanchez starts week 1 ... but Mark has certainly not wrapped anything up by his performances

Look at Bradways post to see my stance on that. Spot on. We dont hate Sanchez, we hate his game.

Reality is that Geno will be making some of the same mistakes Sanchez is making if he starts. I can live with it if the flip side of the coin is a few more explosive plays to counter the errors or he helps himself by making a few plays with his feet. It might open up the running game some since no one respects Sanchez' accuracy or his ability to make plays with his feet. Sanchez continues to show he is a poor game manager and lacks situational awareness. If Geno can even rise to that minimum level of competent game manager then he should play. It no longer should be about if Geno can "outplay" Sanchez. Geno's competition is himself. If he has a competent working knowledge of the offense I will trust Geno's overal decision making and game management over Sanchez' only because Sanchez continues to display he has been an abject dismal failure in that regard.

I think Sanchez fits well in the west coast offense but unfourtanetly for him it's to late,I still feel that Sanchez starts week 1 and will have to perform really well to keep the job from that day foward,But we haven't seen enough of Geno yet so hopefully they split reps with starters this weekend

You expect rookies to make the mistakes Sanchez does. Not 5th year guys. So another "flip side" is that hopefully if Geno starts and makes those mistakes eventually (hopefully sooner than later) he learns and stops making those mistakes.

I feel like they won't wanna hurt Sanchez already shaken confidence so I say Sanchez starts and Geno comes in after Sanchez plays 3 or 4 series

Have you seen more than one of Bridgewater's games? What have you seen in his game that you can honestly say he's better than Geno?

Geno needs to start this week. We have to see what he can bring to the table.

Maybe he'll perform well, maybe he'll crap the bed, but one way or the other we have to figure out what he can do.

It is unfair though that Geno has to play "great" against a way better defense in the Giants if he wants to win the job, while Sanchez got to go up against arguably the worst defense in the league and Sanchez still struggled.. Hopefully Rex & Co take that into consideration when they are making the final decision.
