Well now knowing that we can actually put some points on the board, I think we go 8-8 or better... We are not going to be as bad as last year with that predictable offense.
I still think 8-8 is the ceiling. Maybe, mayyyybe 9-7 at absolute best, but wouldn't count on that. 6-10 or 7-9 was my prediction before, I'll stick with that now.
I will still predict 6-7 wins as of now but I think we can be even better. The performance of the D scared me a little but we aren't showing anything in preseason, I like the structure of the offense- if we stop making some boneheaded decisions we can win some games and w/ the good news about Holmes I think our O will be a lot better than most are expecting.
Where did you get 9-7? After seeing them in a few games 4 to 6 wins, defense looks horrible, which is odd seeing how that's where the majority of our top picks have been spent on.
Thinking along those same lines, took Gabbert's success with a grain of salt, Rex not showing anything in preseason...however Coples injury is a problem on a team severely defficient in pass rush ability
It was a meaingless preseason game that we won by almost 30 points and Jets fans are falling off the cliff,Rex likes to call situation type plays in the pre season he likes to try a bunch of stuff to see what will stick
The defenses poor play was quite predictable. Too many new faces to integrate. A less than big league group of safeties. Millner did not play much in pre-season. The Coples move to OLB was and is ridiculous - he can't set the edge or cover in space. His late year sacks last season were against inferior competition and his motor and smarts are questionable. The linebackers are still slow, unproven, and in the case of guys like Harris and Barnes one dimensional which is why the hurry up offense just kills them. This team has 4-12 written all over it. Maybe worse. But fear not. Lots of high draft picks and being free of the overrated Rex and poisons like Sanchez and Holmes will be the road back to recovery. (Now if we could only get rid of the clueless owner.)
Considering we scored more points in the Jacksonville game than we did during the entire preseason of 2012, I'd say we're in a much better spot this year. Having a real OC is going to work wonders. People predicting 6-10 or worse are just trend followers. It happened last year so it HAS to happen again, right? Most illogical captain! Right now our offense is ranked 7th in total preseason yards. Not bad. A few weeks ago I didn't even see that as a possibility, I figured mediocre 15-16th at absolute best. FYI, here are last year's preseason results: 1 @ Cincinnati L 17-6 2 vs New York L 26-3 3 vs Carolina L 17-12 4. @ Philadelphia L 28-10 Not a single first team TD. Huge difference. Yeah Jacksonville is bad, but good teams are supposed to blow out bad teams. Looks like that's what happened here, but it's preseason so there's no way to tell for sure. I'm cautiously optimistic about the season. Powell has been good enough, that we might not even need Goodson. Ivory and Powell could be a good 1 2 punch. Hill is improved, Cumberland is improved. Sanchez even looks a a bit better than last year. My prediction is still the same. We win 9, possibly 10 games.
It was because Rex wasn't gameplanning for the no huddle offense ,this was the first time Jax and Gabbert ran this offense ,The defense will be a top 8 defense
13 total points allowed is horrible, yeah. If our defense does that all year they will be terrible!!!! They had 2 bad drives at most. For the most part they kept them in check although Jacksonville was penalty central, and certainly didn't help their own cause.
Anywhere between 5-11 ~ 8-8, but not higher. I seriously hope the int machine is jettisoned after this season - even for no compensation.
best case is 8-8, that's if everything works perfectly no more major injuries etc. This is a 4 to 8 win team guys, anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional. Our division is much stronger, Bills and Dolphins are better than the Jets, I can see a 1-5 divisional record easily. I don't have enough info on Geno yet to determine his talent. But I think Sanchez is named starter anyway and that'a good for a few losses to start the season. Defense looks like crap, the 2's are better than the 1's......it's only pre season I know but you can see some bad trends developing early.
8-8 is a competitive fun season. 8 wins keeps us in the hunt. More than likely Geno takes over at some point.
We go as far as far as Sanchez takes us. To me that is 10-6, 11-5. Sanchez sucks just sucks 6-10, 5-11
The defense was bad. Looked lost, couldnt tackle. Gabbert, who's awful made us look foolish. If the defense is anything less than really good this year, we'll be in the Clowney sweepstakes.
