you judge on fantasy #s, you'd rather have a Romo/Rivers type that outs up great fantasy #s and can't win in January than a QB w/ lesser #s that wins.
If Aaron Rodgers, Flacco, Eli, Ben and Peyton can win SB's and put up "fantasy #s" then we shouldn't settle for bad QB play. You only settle for it because you have an emotional attachment to a QB.
Flacco and Eli didn't put up great fantasy #s. Eli's first SB he threw 20 INTs, how soon we forget Ravens fans were ready to run Flacco out of town until that great postseason. Flacco has never thrown more than 35 TDs in a season w/ elite weapons around him. Rodgers had his worst #s season since 2009 in their 2010 SB year Peyton had led 2 teams to SBs w/ SB caliber talent every year and the one SB he won everything fell perfectly into place beating a medicore Chiefs team, no offense Ravens, a Pats team w/ Caldwell and Gaffney as top 2 weapons and a Rex Grossman led Bears team. In a perfect world you want #s and wins, the elite guys can do that but there are only a few of those guys.
That's how I judge QBs. Do you help the team win? Can you make crucial plays when it matters the most? People here seem to love QBs like Dalton, Rivers, Schaub, and Freeman. These QBs are losers that put up good numbers on stacked teams. That's not what I want in a QB. They cannot win a big game to save their lives. The ability to make plays in big moments is an innate ability that not many QBs have.
They've all posted fantasy numbers in seasons that they won a Super Bowl. All that stuff you're saying is your usual spin doctor routine.
Sanchez playoff wins came because our run game, offensive line and defense helped push us through. Yes he made some key throws but when you're the 5th pick in the draft that should be expected no? As the talent has gotten worse or veteran leadership has left Sanchez has gotten worse..a qb especially drafted where he was needs to make the receivers around him better...yes our o line has been worse the last couple years but there's been times he's had all day to throw the ball and he makes an inaccurate pass or dumb decision. And when he does he puts his head down and sits on the bench...this organization needs a qb that's mentally tough enough to handle himself on the field and off, especially in New York -Qb needs to have mental strength. When he throws a pick, he needs to stay positive keep the offense alive and tell them he will throw a td on the next drive -pocket awareness! Be able to get rid of the ball quickly understanding the pressure around him -pre snap reads: needs to be able to adapt to the situation in the game and read the defense -be a leader: first one to practice, last one to leave...work with the receivers, during the game talk to everyone on offense, keep everyone's spirits up -show no fear: when the defense hits him or pressures him, get right back up and talk shit to them don't smile or get deer in headlights look like our pretty boy qb -be from a cold weather college!!! Especially in New York! Stay away from California qb's
Eli threw 23 TDs and 20 INTs in his first SB year. Those are great fantasy #s? then you should love mark w/ his 26 TDs and 18 INTs in 2011. Eli also lost 7 fumbles that year so that was 27 turnovers- a # Mark has never reached. Flacco threw 22 and 10 last year, decent #s but not great #s Eli in his 2nd SB year threw 29 and 16. Just 3 more Tds than Mark that year and just 2 less INTs. what is the next excuse?
SMH... Stop you have no idea what you're talking about. Just a bunch of rubbish. This topic is a wash in general. Better off merging it with the Sanchez Sucks thread.
Their play is the difference. Like you always say "context" right? Eli in his 1st Super Bowl season was iffy. His second Super Bowl he was good. Flacco was making plays. Sanchez in 2011 had a lot of TD's but was still sucking.
Eli in his 2 SB runs was like Sanchez in his 2 title game runs. Both played very well and helped their teams but each team won primarily b/c of Defense.
I don't pay any attention to how the QB actually plays at all. If they are on a football team that wins some games, then that means they are good. I love Mark Sanchez.
Eli was "great", mark "sucked" year Eli threw only 3 more TDs and 2 less INTs w/ vastly superior weapons and his team won one more game. I know Eli was Better, I don't judge just based on #s but for the guys always harping on #s how can you tell me he was much better?
Context. Sanchez threw game-changing, crippling INTs. (Ladarius Webb, Andre Goodman, Ninkovich pick sixes, Tyvon Branch end zone INT, two INTs to a nose tackle). His turnovers broke our back in 2011. Remember, its about context, you said it yourself.
