Thanks for the reply, MoWilk. I don't mind it so much elsewhere, but the training camp threads are my only real source of info, and it's just annoying to have to read through a bunch of Sanchez arguments where anyone who says something negative about him is a tool, an idiot, has no business expressing their opinion, etc... just to get some info on camp itself. Also, any idea how Ivory did today?

Funny how Philip Rivers 2012 numbers don't "need to be put in context"

Yet another thread hijacked by Hobbes and/or Junc to spew their drivel. Getting close to needing a new message board to visit.

On a brighter note, happy Geno seems to have bounced back from turning his ankle. Good sign.

How about we give him a chance to play with the first team for once because quite frankly he earned it.

Yes he did look bad on his one and only start.....and Sanchez looked putrid in many of his starts so help me there.

The argument of playing against 3rd stringers cuts both ways. He is also throwing to 3rd stringers and has a weak OL, yet he did pretty damn good and did not seem to throw idiotic screens to the D like Mark did.

I want Mark to succeed, don't get me wrong, but fans are getting sick and tired of his major lapses that inevitably cost us the game. Plus, he just can not throw a screen which is death in the WCO

I agree. Very good sign. Means that we'll get an opportunity as both a coaching staff and in our case, a fan base to see Geno Smith vs. the Jaguars this coming Saturday. Really would like to see Geno under center with the first string unit surrounded by players such as Ivory and McKnight in the backfield, Hill and Braylon on the outside with Kerley working the slot along with both of Winslow Jr. and Cumberland working the middle of the field as our pass catching TE's.

Considering that McElroy had little to no reps with the 1's last year he did alright in his first start.

Everybody else sucks because they suck. But only Sanchez sucking needs to be put in context.

I dont recall anyone ever saying that.
    Mark has a fumble problem.

    Mark makes bad decisions.

But the talent. And OC issues, have held him back.

    Thats not disputable.

It is a 100% gurantee, that Sanchez has a career uear.

    Hey, Gmac played great.

Against guys that wont be in the NFL in September.

In his last appearance with the ones, he took...11 sacks?

  10. ...Well that's the exact problem on here for both sides of the argument. It always has to be all or nothing. Perfection or disaster.

Football is a messy game. Not everything is gonna be w/ 100% clarity & without bumps along the way. So Sanchez isn't the golden boy franchise QB & has some flaws. Big whoop. So does 98% of the overall NFL player population. That doesn't mean he can't gain consistency to go along w/ his natural ability.Which he clearly has.

Geno deserves to start with the ones, because frankly
He got crap playcalling the other night.

And, these guys hate the argument, that Marty is going to be the variable, that tells you if he can.

The bold proves my point. Never any accountability for his fuck ups by his supporters.

McElroy also was throwing to guys and was being protected by guys that won't be in the league either. It works both ways.

Btw you of all people can't judge a player based on 1 game.

You have to stop with this shit that an entire year means nothing. You say that 2012 means nothing because of his circumstances. What if I said 2009 means nothing because he was supported by a top 5 team and had the luxury of a top 5 run game, defense, OL and special teams? Maybe we should discount that entire season because pretty much anybody couldve QB'd this team and we would have made the playoffs.

I dont care if he's throwing to Jerry Rice or Mardy Gilyard. You simply cannot discount 25% of his career. You certainly can factor the circumstances into your judgement. But theres no way in hell anyone is forgetting last season. That included Rex, Idzik and Mark himself.

Last year is called adversity. Sanchez crumbled. He did not weather any storm. He became part of that storm. Any supposed franchise QB being paid his paycheck is supposed to provide a little bit more hope then he did.

Agreed. It's the same shit in 5-6 threads at this point. Can we please limit it to one? The Sanchez sucks thread perhaps?

After 4 years of mediocrity most fans patience has ran out and rightfully so. No one is saying he has to be perfect but he damn sure shouldn't be 52 turnovers in 2 years bad, nor should he still be making rookie mistakes at this juncture of his career. The problem is that he's never had consistency unless you mean consistently bad. He does have natural ability but so does every QB in the league. Some put it together while others don't. At this point the odds are stacked against him that he'll turn into the QB we need him to be in order for the Jets to eventually compete and win a championship.

That's unfortunately the same boat I'm in. But I don't think Sanchez needs to be a back up, but needs a change of scenery. Ppl so called fans have so much hate, some well earned, and some not so. I think in a more open, fast pace offense he will succeed. If you notice in 2010 he did well when he was behind and not thinking, hence all the comeback victories.

In the wc he should do well, and caters to hits strengths. It should be an interesting year for sure. The jets management wants Geno to start badly but that can bite them also. Young qb, New system, in N.Y. with a poor season... Detriment to a young sensitive qb
