The Good - ST teams play - Colon adding leadership and some balls on the O - starting defensive unit - guys like Hill, Gates, Kerley, Winslow and Cumberland getting open and holding onto the ball. MM's offense has potential. - the 1 TD drive led by Sanchez - McElroy's play - Milliner looked good - Wilk solid as expected - D'brick looked really good. The Bad - Sanchez cannot throw a screen pass. still making bad decisions and shows no respect for protecting the football. - Geno twisting the ankle. I hope that doesn't become a default reason to start Sanchez. Needed to see more of him this preseason. - way too many undisciplined penalties - Peterman doesn't look like a starter to me (why didn't Winters go?) - Walls out of position against the run and pass. We'll need reliable CB depth with Berry down. Kyle Wilson didn't impress me either, but wasn't terrible. - Davis was somewhere between invisible and unimpressive. We need him to make an impact. - We need healthy, unincarcerated RB's. Might be time to bring in another vet. The Ugly - Griffin's injury. literally a tough break. i think he would have made the team. - Sanchez pick 6. absolutely terrible. - Aboushi. getting your QB drilled, poor run blocking, and bad penalties are no way to make the team.
I think were very thin at LB still. Antwan Barnes looked good. Harris looked ok, but Demario Davis looked like dogshit. I think our DL was a litte overrated. Where was Kenrick Ellis? still invisible. Didn't see anything from Coples that I liked. It's too bad cause he looked good the first year too. Wilkerson looked good. Richardson was invisible. I liked Milliner. Kyle Wilson still not turning his head. This guy sucks. Cut #30 please. Good lord. Unfortunately we looked lost at times on defense. Really missing someone like Scott who's a natural leader out there The OL stood up nicely against the 1s. Unfortunately we absolutely have no depth. Who is 75? Please never make him see the light of day. I think our WR depth is fine even without Holmes. Our RBS though. Losing Griffin really f'n sucks. Fuck that Detroit guy. Powell looked decent. MOST IMPORTANT TAKEWAY: Finally nice to see we had guys open and looking like an actual offense. But then again it's against a Lions secondary that's absolutely terrible. We'll see
I think you missed the tweet/news that Rex is going to promote Jarrett to the 1st team. He's earned it.
imo dee is good, d line was not monster but wasnt bad either. we looked like a pass over run offense tbh but just pre season. we will see what comes now
My 2cents: Ricky Sapp aka Captain Camp - cut (sick of hearing about him great practices) Barnes - how about not jumping offsides. Better than McIntyre though. DLine - ok - like what i saw from Mo, Coples, even a little Sheldon. Ellis not so much. LB's - mediocre. Outside of harris, nothing special. D Mill - looked like he can play. Safeties - need help Sanchez - had i not watched the first drive, i'd say looking good. Sanchez should never EVER be allowed to run screenplays. they are like bubble gum and peanuts. Geno- looked good, nothing great. rookie stuff, but held his own. GMac - looked good as well. don't see him as starting material, but i think he'll make a decent backup. Peterman - did Winters play? how the fuck can he not beat this tomato can out? this guy sucks. Austin - better, but his blocking still scares me. Oday - fuck dude. you looked like trash. 5th rd OL should be potential starters. you got ragdolled Campbell - seen him a few plays - reminded me of B. Moore (and wearing 65). Won't surprise me if this kid makes the team or PS. Rodgers - looked like our victor cruz, minus the enormous drop (penalty or not) Spadola - kid looked decent. Gates - ran a proper route and caught a ball. let's hope it continues. Hill - he caught a pass. that's good. RB's - not worried yet, until Ivory pulls his hammy and Goodson goes to jail. Aussie TE - i already forgot his name. Winslow - looks like a contributor as long as he stays healthy (not likely). Bohanan - FB can catch - nothing special, but neither is Lex Hilliard, expect him to make ST. I'm sick of seeing guys like Bellore, Landolt, Sapp, Schauderuffy etc (throw Mauga in there although i don't remember him playing). these guys are a dime a dozen. can't crack the starter line, get rid of them, try other Jags. Sucks for Spann. Kyle "Neck Brace" Wilson my amateur opinion
Gotta say somethin' The number 1s looked pretty good. O-line showed some moxxy. Too early to tell on the RBs. Sanchez had the look of a starter. Walls, the right CB needs to mature. Milner looked pretty good...bad call on the challenged reception....it's pre season for the reffs too I quess. D-Line looks like they were having fun.
nothing really surprising - the Jets are who we think they are for the most part. the LB corp did very little, which is a shame when you think how good the DL played.
GMac played well even though his blocking was horrible, SOS...same old Sanchez! Sanchez must have a horseshoe stuck in his sissy headband, Garrard and Geno injuries will make him a starter...uggghhhh!
ha forgot to say liked how winslow was fast reacting to the almost pick that tackle saved sanchez drive.
Imagine Sanchez throws thst pick six at home. It will be like the Arizona game. He's not the QB for this team. Time to move on. Geno's injury certainly comes into play but when he's healed, I make him the QB.
Reports are saying that Geno was walking through the locker room with no limp. Kid will be back at practice tomorrow, starting vs JAX. They are gonna let Geno get some more passing plays next preseason game... Geno will be the starter for the NY Jets against the Bucs Week 1...
kind of dumb question but after last night i start to think Geno can also scramble every now and then with decent speed right? I mean its no RG3 ofc but he seemed to be quick in the pocket just not sure how fast in scrambling few yards.
I think you could put Geno in the good pile too. But for stupid stupid penalties he might not have had those 3 and outs. Overall I thought he played well, zip on the ball, good reads and mobility. I was also very impressed with Tommy Bohanon, great hands for a FB and strong enough to make some good blocks, Hilliard will be gone. Colon should be in the bad pile for me. For all the good he did, his lack of discipline from time to time could prove costly. Outside of the majority of the starting O line, things don't look good, so even more praise goes to McElroy who was outstanding and (I'm sorry to say) the best of our 3 QBs on the night. I would love to see what GMac can do with the 1s against a 1s D, a year is a long time. I have to say those here that have said he has no arm, of which I was one are now wrong. He had a quick release and read the field well, never looking like he was going to get intercepted. Sanchez could do well to look at how GMac stayed in the pocket and stayed calm, despite some absolutely shocking blocking. WRs: Zach Roger's drop is going to haunt him and the CS will have a good hard look at him after that. I don't think he'll make it. Ben Obomanu did himself a massive favour with a great showing, good route running and what looks to be a very soft pair of hands. I don't think Rex gave away anything defensively last night which was tough to watch. I think we know who the CBs are going to be and was glad that Milliner didn't play too hard. There was a screen pass to HB (I think) that he should have made the tackle, but didn't, come game 1 he'll make it. Richardson looked hellish good, drawing a couple of double teams, he is so fast! Kyle Wilson was all over the field and played pretty well, nothing spectacular but he did his job well, nice to see. I think we will see our D step it up in the Giants game onwards. NFL.com are doing nice stats sheets now http://www.nfl.com/liveupdate/gamecenter/56100/DET_Gamebook.pdf
Just a couple points...Sanchez should have caught the FB getting tackled and hit him with the ball, not Ziggy. But, lets not pretend he hit him in the numbers, Zigggy plucked that ball from 9 feet in the air....bud, a shit decision, a guy inhis fifth year would have drilled the FB, as he was getting tackled. brady would have, manning would have. And gotten the holding call, instead of the pick six. However... The boxscore..10/13,125 TD,-int, 99 passer rating. where would this team be, if we had gotten that for the last 4 years. In fact all three QBs finished over 90. Thank god Schotty is gone. The defense, to my recollection, always looks like shit early in the pre season, i wouldnt worry over that I agree with you. Milliners breakup in the End zone was a great play. Rogers, quote me now...will be the next Woodhead. Hes going to keep making plays, the drop notwithstanding, and wind up dangling out there....and move north. And GMax was not better than Sanchez, even with the pick six. But all three guys, finished well in the 90s in passer rating.....the offense will keep up with the defense this year.
My take - we scored an offensive touchdown before the final preseason game compared to the shit show last year is a win in my book
I haven't seen the game yet...they ran the Pats game here. yuck. But you're right...it sounds like at least we were moving the ball. If the D equals last seasons squad...we should win, or at least be in a few more, games.
I honestly feel that Sanchez will start week 1. I'm okay with that. Maybe things change by next week.
