Would rather have Sanchez then McElroy 10/10. We can't trust a guy who can't stay on the field for more then 4 quarters. Plain and simple Marks not great, But we wouldn't be on our QB#3 after a half of FB either. McElroy is just to small for the NFL, in every way you can think of.
Basing it on the fact that when I see Sanchez play he absolutely doesn't have one thing that you can say he is above average in that category. Average NFL arm, average speed, average athleticism, can't consistently read a defense, lackluster pocket presence, scared in the pocket, makes poor decisions. McElroy at least has Sanchez beat in his ability to read defenses, he will throw the ball away before he tries to force a pass, better pocket presence and he's much more poised in the pocket than Sanchez. Plus he will use his legs and scramble, something Sanchez rarely ever does anymore he just stands there in the pocket like a statue.
He doesn't fit in the Jets future. That being said , he was and is a good Jet and I hope he stays on as a backup.
While Mac lacks the big-time arm, he does have smarts, is accurate, and puts enough zip on the intermediate throws in the WC and as a QB that's been on an NFL roster going into his 3rd year, it's not like he can't throw a ball 50 yards down the sideline should any defense think he's incapable of it--his bomb to Spadola last Saturday in the G&W proved that .... I can still see Michael Campbell dropping McElroy's game winning pre-season TD pass against Houston. He's not Brett Ratliff. Keep him as a 3rd string backup. Player - Ptc. - QB Rating Nacho - 55.1 - 71.7 McElroy-61.2 - 79.2 G.Smith- n/a - n/a just to keep it in 'context' for some, some playoff 'stats': Sanchez - comp. pct. 60.5%; QBR - 94.3 ;-)
"Too small?" The guy's 6' 2" and 220. There are a number of QBs (e.g. Brees, Wilson) smaller than him.
he's at best a game manager that can step in as the backup. cant ever see him making more noise than that. that said, if had it my way he would start the season until geno is ready, and sanchez could sit his no good ass on the pine all year
bingo! correct. :metal: abyzmal can't see it, although he claims he no longer smokes weed. must be mushrooms instead?
rex hangs his hat on el taco. what does that tell you about his offensive skills? he didn't like greg telling the truth about the offense after the 2011 season. he is making the same mistake here that got his dad fired in both philly and arizona. remember when buddy was the oilers dc and took a swing at gilbride, the oilers oc, on national tv? that type of lack of offense and player judgement will get him tossed out as jets hc if he continues it.
how is that going to happen when the head coach has el taco tatooed (on the wife) on his arm? he NEVER learned from what happened to his dad, who made the same mistake with two teams as the head coach, and got fired in both places.
The question that still resonates in my head is why in hell did our OL give up 53 sacks in ONE FUCKING GAME???? (yes, I know it wasn't 53, seemed more like 54). Did pulling Mark tell the team the season was over? Adios losers!!! Did pulling Mark piss off KEY men like Mangold/Brick? Or did our OL actually play STELLAR football only to have an inempt QB get himself killed over and over again??? I've never fully understood big Mac's first shot going so horribly horribly wrong.
