Really? That's interesting since supposed much better QBs w/ much more talent around them couldn't even get that far and have struggled their entire postseason careers. You guys think you can throw any QB in there and win, it doesn't work that way especially w/ the roads to the title games that we had. Yep, he set a Jets record for total TDs in 2011 then had ONE bad year where no QB would have succeeded. He has issues w/o a doubt but it is so incredibly naïve to blame everything on him and pretend he held us back in '09 and '10.
don't his technical flaws outweigh his postseason victories? I mean thats the difference between matt ryan and tim tebow, they have the same amount of postseason wins but one is clearly the better QB. with Sanchez I'm pretty much over those wins for our current purposes because his own individual flaws (namely the late thrown passes for whatever reason and panicking in the pocket) mean more now. he can win the playoffs 3 years ago. great, but he hasn't shown the ability to do it again. I don't see why prior playoff victories mean so much.
Any Qb? Who ever said that? If you can find a post carrying such a contention, please post it and I'll argue against it 'till the cows come home as well. If not, then your statement has nothing to do with "debating."
It is by no means he fault for all of the issues in 2011 or 2012 but he was more part of the problem than the solution. If he was good he would show flashes of a good QB who needed help. He just looks bad. It was not his fault alone but it is his time to go.
Tebow one a single playoff game at home in the WC rd, Mark has helped his team win 4 road playoff games including 2 div rd games where they were HUGE underdogs. I think Ryan is better but if they had postseason Sanchez as their QB they would have more than 1 playoff win the last 5 years. he hasn't shown the ability to do it again b/c we haven't had a playoff caliber team around him, no QB was winning w/ our healthy talent a year ago.
the majority here act like any QB would have won, mark was "carried", along for the ride. They ignore the fact that he played very well and was a HUGE reason why we were winning. He clearly showed flashes in both years(more in 2011 than 2012). That doesn't mean he doesn't get his share of the blame but there were many more issues than just the QB and he has proven he can win w/ talent around him. he hasn't had it since 2010.
He is not good. Even Pete Caroll told him to stay in school because he was not ready. He should win the QB competition hands down in a west coast offense that is designed for his strengths. If he loses to a second rd rookie what more is there to say about him.
Lol it is the offseason. You beating your dead horse is purely entertainment for 95% of this forum 5 more days...
Pete Carroll told him to stay in school b/c Pete wanted to win a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. It was selfish reasons why he did that and mark proved he was ready as he helped us make 2 title games in his first 2 years.
From the looks of things Pete was right. Sanchez is one year away from being a journeyman backup if that.
I have a question for you. Of all of the starting Quarterbacks in the NFL which ones would you not take over Sanchez?
Pete's been coaching in this league for 7 seasons, he has 2 playoff wins. Mark had 4 in 2 years, I don't think Pete was right. He clearly proved he could play and win in this league, he's had ONE bad year where no QB would have succeeded. This doesn't mean he doesn't need to greatly improve but he's proven he can play and win in this league which is something many other supposed much better QBs haven't proven.
If all things were equal w/ regards to talent? Brady Brees Rodgers Ben Peyton Luck Ryan- I think he will be able to break through Wilson other than that I'll tale my chances winning w/ Mark if everything was equal. If Mark has the crappy 2012 jets talent and another QB has elite talent that's not fair to judge. mark won w/ less talent than many supposed much better QBs.
Comparing playoff wins between a coach and a player / within situations that are/were in no way related to one another is crazy stupid. Crazy stupid. Either way Sanchez is going to finish his career with 4 P.O. wins and Carroll has 2 and counting... Lets see if you want to make that same silly, in no way related argument in 3 years.
Pete inherited a NE team that was young and coming off a SB app, as soon as he left they became a dynasty In Seattle he took over when the division stunk and he could make a postseason and host a playoff game w/ only a 7-9 record. Carroll has 3 more seasons in this league and half the playoff wins despite being in much better situations but Mark sucks and Pete is God.
so Sanchez's technical flaws don't outweigh his playoff wins? Telegraphing his throws, slowing their release uselessly, that doesn't matter as long as he won a few games a couple years ago? I noticed you haven't touched on that... lets say tebow wins in the playoffs again, this time on the road in Cincinnati with the current patriots group of receivers. he runs for over a hundred and goes about 10-18, gets a few choice first downs most of the game leading to a lot of field goals, and manages to score the game winner late in the game. lets say ryan doesn't win one. is he better than ryan?
He's regressed and picked up some bad habits, he didn't have these bad habits a few years ago. technically is there anyone better than Peyton? No but it's about more than the technical aspect of the game, some guys struggle under pressure and others can perform. Mark can perform. Tebow was a 1 game fluke, he needed 8 wins to get to the playoffs and hosted a playoff game. I don't think Mark is better than Ryan, I expect ryan will break out sooner than later but so far Mark has been the much better postseason QB- that's not debateable especially since Ryan has had MUCH more talent around him to work with.
I don't think anyone is saying Pete is God by any means. And why would he publically anounce that Mark wasn't ready for the NFL if he didn't actually mean it? Bitterness because he left early? I'm not buying it. Carroll knew Sanchez wasn't ready for the NFL and he was right. Go ahead and continue to bring up those 4 playoff wins, because theres just no wayyyy a sub-par quarterback could ride the coat tails of a top defense to a couple playoff wins right?? Right.
