So, my wife turned on NFLN to see how the Cowboys are doing, I look at the crawl at the bottom of the screen and it says Brian Baldinger: Geno Smith's conditioning is "embarrassing" Did I miss something? Isn't Baldinger in Philly today??? What is the basis for this? Don't get me wrong, I hate sports media, but from my time watching NFLN a few years ago, I heard Baldy claim to be a Jets fan many times. Is there substance to this or does he just want Sanchez to start?
I think they mentioned on-air today that Baldinger was at Jets camp yesterday. He is in Philly today. From what I remember, the article was about 90% praise for Geno's performance at camp, and then 10% against 'poor conditioning'. That said, the headline is his 'embarrassing conditioning' of course.
Hehe, I finally got a minute to look that article up and he's talking about gassers at the end of practice. I definitely don't want the guy to be out of shape, but this definitely seems like a media turd.
I usually like Leberfeld, but he really seems to have his knickers in a twist over this conditioning issue. ------ It shows poor leadership to show up out of shape ----- The quarterback is the most important player on an NFL team. Any player who wants to start at that position needs to be a leader, set a tone for his teammates. That is why this assessment of Geno Smith from the NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger doesn’t reflect well on the player. “Geno Smith looked like he had done no conditioning,” Baldinger said. ”It was actually embarrassing to see how far behind he was behind (Mark) Sanchez and (Matt) Simms and everybody else that’s there (in a running drill after practice).” I will have more on this in the premium section later, but this is inexcusable. Smith has a chance to start for an NFL team, and he can’t even bother showing up in shape? Geno has a ton of potential, and has a chance to be very good, but he clearly has some maturing to do. http://www.jetsconfidential.com/news/it-shows-poor-leadership-to-show-up-out-of-shape-nyj/
Geno out of shape? Sorry my phone isnt letting me post the link for some reason, but according to pro football talk Brian Baldinger of the NFL network was at camp and thought Geno looked out of shape. Apparently was having trouble with end of practice gassers? Thoughts?
Yea - he's ripping it up in practice and way ahead of schedule but he's sucking wind running the gassers at the end.
annnnnnnd- NBCsports runs that tagline. like fucking clockwork, one person mentions he's out of shape and what should i see but a link with the title:"Geno Smith looks out of shape at Jets camp" not even gonna click. won't give them the satisfaction. there was more to cover on smiths day, hell more to cover for the jets overall positive (hill improving?) and negative (halfback issues...) but nope, lets give the dumbass bottom feeders what they're use to hearing, after all thats what we planted the seeds of doubt in their heads for. fucking hacks...
don't worry about it, you'll hear rex dismiss it and then some other BS non-story I'm sure. Hes fine physically, its just a nitpick if anything.
Yeah I find it funny that one of the worst reporters at camp sees something which would be obvious but no other reporter noticed it.
Come on, man, Leberfeld is a pathetic twerp. Why the hell do you "usually like him"? He is a worm that tries harder to be a douce than the actual beat reporters we have. That is saying something. Fuck that guy.
Geno looks in shape to me. Can't even get through PFT, the comments are so ignorant. There's probably a 'circus' reference, a buttfumble one, some random racist statement, something about Jay-z, and finally 'WRECKS is fat'...idiots
Running gassers, the measure of all the great QB's! Marino, Manning, Montana, all well known for their ability to run gassers! Gassers!
Semi-relevant, anyone see this picture of Eddie Lacy? Yet Geno is out of shape because he gets tired running gassers...
Gassers are meant to make you tired... Hence the name... Clearly none of these writers have ever ran a gasser in their life...
