Please note I'm only playing devil's advocate here: BUT, with nyjunc logic, Kaepernick is nearly a legend already... same with Wilson - while a guy like Luck we might aswell forget about. Because all that really matters, is playoff wins. Everything else is just average fan fantasy #'s.
stop looking at rankings, our run game was nowhere near great in 2010 and the D was up and down all year.
Touche. Even though we all know Sanchez doesn't throw interceptions. He's just a really, really, really good 3rd down punter.
Luck proved nothing? A rookie QB who turns a 2-14 doormat into a 11-5 playoff team proves that kid can win. I'll let you two wrestle with those statements (above in bold) to determine who's right.
for folks that don't understand the game they rely on stats and rankings, for those that do they realize they tell part of the story. For anyone to say we had a great run game and D in 2010 I question your knowledge of this game. It was great at times, but very inconsistent especially the run game but folks look at the #s and we must have been great! they dragged our terrible QB all year b/c it's so easy to win consistently w/ poor QB play.
Luck put up numbers AND won and helped turned a 2-14 team into a playoff team. Proving that great numbers and winning aren't exclusive from each other.
Well, since you're both birds of the same feather Sanchez-wise, I sought to determine whether or not Andrew Luck's "winning" trumps his "many INTS" Meaning that if Mark's a "winner" should we ignore his TD/INT ratio, his QB rating, i.e. those "fantasy football" stats? ... Food for thought.
The run game was good in 2010 LT really saved the team that year. Because Greene struggled early on then by mid season Greene stepped up. The defense was good especially at stopping the run and pass defense. The defense couldn't consistently get to the QB or was able to create a lot of turnovers. They were a bend but don't break defense. I watched every game that season and the stats aren't too far from the reality of what our defense and run game produced that year.
My point being that you can't discredit a QB's performance based on the strength or weakness of the team around them. Sure, that has a big effect, but you can still judge the QB's performance as an individual. I wasn't knocking g Sanchez in this case...
I evaluate a certain way, others evaluate their way. B/c we come to the same conclusion doesn't mean we get there the same way. I am about winning, in a perfect world I'd like a #s guy and a winner but as long as the wins come I don't really care. The last year and half has sucked and he hasn't helped us in either area but he has the ability which is why I don't want to throw him out.
He played well and there is no shame in losing to the eventual SB champions on their home field. What's scary about Sanchez is that he's asked to manage the game and take short safe throws and yet he still has a high number of turnovers. At least with Luck he's taking more shots down field so his INT's aren't a huge killer because he's able to make plays and put up points.
LT was great for about a month, the rest of the year he was less than mediocre. You see good overall #s and think he was good.
Playoff wins matter. That is when everything gets ratcheted up a notch. Kap has shown the moment is not to big for him as well as Wilson. Rg3 and Luck still have to show that. None of them have proven anything as of yet only that they had a good year. DC now have a lot of tape on them let's see how they do. Their running games and their ability to run hides a lot of deficiencies and although the rules are changing a running QB has never won a Super bowl
You can't blame Sanchez for scheme. I think you get a better Sanchez if you let him fling it around a bit and live with a few ints. Ground and pound philosophy never allowed him to grow past the mistakes. Geno supposedly looking good maybe we don't have to worry about Mark anymore we can start bashing Geno for throwing a few picks as rookies like to do.
