I know. You are such a downer! But I agreed with a lot you said. May be a little too late for Sanchez here in NY
He is passing the eye test for now, lets see how he looks with some actual pads and a live NFL game setting. Its interesting that braylon noted that there is actually a QB competition form the first day of camp.
http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/sto...york-jets-tells-mark-sanchez-geno-smith-legit At least we got a legit competition now..at least Edwards thinks so
what did geno smiths footwork look like? how did he move from under center? these are the important things that i have seen absolutely no mention of.
Yep. And you won't. These moron beat writers know little about football. TIGHT SPIRALS! That is about the most in depth analysis you will get from a guy that makes his money quoting invisible men. Don't hold your breath, alley.
haha yeah those tight spirals. so much talk and so little actual information. but hey they are selling hashtags or some shit.
No, because theyve never given him anything but has beens and retreads. Its the main reason I am still in his camp. A decent OC, and even if holmes doesnt play, Hill,Kerley,Edwards, Cumberland, will be enough to get the production out, I believe.
Ive seen scant clips of Geno, but he looks like the real deal, If Sanchez can hold him off till opening day, this team is set for a very long time. Look at it this way...expierience, right now is the biggest factor. So, lets say Sanchez wins the day. If the Jets are successful, they have a very cap friendly QB situation for the next 4 years. 13 mil, a year (rough) between two players at QB. If you can milk that till you extend Geno.... Man oh man...
I've watched clips from his college career and his camp appearances and those workout videos with Antonio Brown, and while I am not a QB expert in any sense of the word, I can figure out intelligent ways to understand his skills. The beat writer a-holes stayed there for a couple of days and said he had a tight spiral. No wonder newspaper companies are dying. They hire writers and pretend the are specialists in whatever field they report on. And I agree with you to a point. He really has the physical skills and mechanics to be the guy. It's the part upstairs that needs to be proven.
http://www.newsday.com/sports/football/jets/nothing-but-jets-1.1279166/to-the-surprise-of-jets-no-ints-yet-for-geno-1.5789568 interesting tidbit, no interceptions yet. it can't last but its weird you think he would have slipped up by now, he's only human.
If Geno was anything in College he was very careful when throwing the football. He just didn't throw many INT's.
Definitely, 25 TD's to 0 INT's in the first 6 weeks of his last season. Not to mention only throwing 6 total to his 42 TD's? Turn overs dont SEEM to be a problem.
There's still a ways to go, but I can see this QB duel ending rather quickly and Geno being announced as the starter. I hope my worries about him turn out to be incorrect and he ends up being a star!
1 thing about Geno he'll take a sack before forcing a throw He has to escape the rush and hit a receiver on the run or use his legs for a gain
I honestly feel like we have found our franchise QB in Eugene. He just has that star player look to him. Dude is gonna be a great role model for kids.
He loves the game which is #1 And I think him being linked to Jay-Z gives him a confidence to want to shine bright
