I still believe in Sanchez, but I understand it's an uphill battle for him to continue to be the QB of the future.

There's no future in Mark Sanchez and the Jets QB job. He's either the QB of today and a good one or he's gone tomorrow.

He may win the job in training camp if Geno Smith is not ready to go yet but he has no room for error at this point. If he screws up the way he has been since mid-November of 2011 the Jets are just going to turn the page by bringing Geno in to see what he's got.

Then next year they'll either draft a QB early or not but they'll cut Sanchez either way.

We're going to find out what Sanchez has when his back is to the wall and there's no way out but forward. Hopefully it's not more of what we've already seen.

    Geno needs to get tighter

He has small hands so he has to position the ball better and his footwork has to be almost perfect

I can't wait to see him in the preseason

If Sanchez adapts well to the new system and thrives in it there is a future with him. If the offense struggles like it has the last ear and a half then Mark will be gone and theyll move on.

why can't our 5th overall pick elevate the play around him?

If Chad Pennington works on his mechanics and learns from a judo master how to fall without injury, he can regain his old form and lead the Jets to a SB.

Some people have more patience than others. We have watched half a dozen teams over the past three years win a lot of games with surprising rookies.

I, for one, have seen enough of Mark Sanchez. I don't blame anyone for wanting to see him to prove himself one last time.

I will root for him if he starts. But I don't expect anything more than what I have seen in the regular season, and we don't have the defense to carry him into the post season right now. They are too young.

If it happens, I will love it. I really don't think it will.

Because they know he can't do such a thing. He's an average talent who plays like garbage. The best he could hope to be is an 'ok' game-manager, but it's doubtful he ever becomes that.

Sadly, Tannenbaum utterly screwed us by extending Intchez.

Naaah. Guys will be attending practices, so it will be good to have places to get the notes on each player.

They merge often, once the season starts, one of the two threads should probably get locked.

maybe it's just me, but i don't think the offensive talent is as bad as people think. andrew luck did great things last year with no name players with the exception of reggie wayne. if stephen hill plays well, i think we'll be alright. having tone will be huge though

Maybe you didn't read the other thread. He is learning how to walk again. He still can't put any weight on that foot.

I doubt we get him back for more than 8 games this season.

Can't wait to be rid of him.

I'd rather have Reggie and Kerley than Holmes and Kerley

    Scheme. Sanchez will be fine.

Before Winslow, cumberland,Hill,Holmes,Kerley should have been enough to field an offense in the top 15, coupled with this defense thats enough.

Adding Ivory,Goodson,Winslow, should give MM what he needs to be close to or in the top 10.

Thats right. Scheme matters. No one else seems to think it does.

While people are justifiably focusing on our WR/TEs I still think the biggest difference in our game is going to be through the run game. Sanchez was successful with mediocre WR/TE talent (albeit better than we currently have) when we had a good run game, when the run game went down hill the last few years so did our overall offense.

I haven't seen much of Ivory or Goodson, also not totally sold on McKnight outside of the odd snap and returns, but it can't be much worse than last year. If our run game is good it'll set up a lot more 2nd or 3rd and shorts and, more importantly, make the defense worry about the run game. Last year they knew Greene couldn't get outside, he just ran straight ahead and fell at the first contact he faced, so they didn't have to worry about it as much. Ivory seems a little more cagey and able to get outside the edges so, ideally, it'll keep the secondary a little more worried which could open up some seams for our WR/TEs.

At this point I'm still of the belief that Sanchez will (and should) start the season but that he is given a very short leash. Unless he has a crazy bounce back year and is at least above average (sad that that idea is "crazy" to me) then he keeps the job for this year at least. If he's below average by the bye week or before (depending how bad we're talking) then he's holding the clipboard and we see what Geno can do.

Honestly I think Sanchez will start out mediocre, go on a bit of a hot streak and then fall completely off the map all by the bye week. That Geno will come in after the bye week and then we'll be able to judge if he's the kind of guy we can go forward with as the starter or if we're going to have to cut Sanchez and bring in another QB in the offseason for Geno to battle with.

Scheme matters a lot. So does talent and the basic understanding of playing QB in the NFL. Sanchez displayed VERY little of the latter. System is irrelevant when it comes to flat out decision making, protecting the ball and pocket presence. You can go ahead and blame the o-line, which you will, but Mark is pure shit in the pocket. You know you make most timing throws from the pocket, correct?

Pretty much this but I doubt Geno goes in with the Playoff birth still on the line unless Sanchez played like he did in Tennessee. I have seen the good Sanchez and the bad Sanchez and think MM fits what Mark can do well.

IF I am wrong go Geno if I am right go Sanchez.
