Answer the question like it should be We all know he'd go with Mark if the season started today I mean duh Geno is a rookie who's yet to have a training camp Rex says dumb shit too much, just let the process play out I get the feeling hell go with Sanchez no matter what forcing Idziks hand where he either cuts Mark or fires Rex or both
I'm mad because the decision is already made Sanchez is starting and these guys haven't even taken snaps in training camp nor a preseason game Geno had no shot to begin with with Rex as our head coach he's not gonna sit Sanchez to start and this comment proves it No coach would start a rookie who hasn't even gone through camp or preseason, it's obvious so him saying this is dumb since its common knowledge that jobs are won in camp and during the preseason Rex will play Sanchez no matter how bad he looks in the preseason, I've come to accept that and I don't like it because Geno is not getting a fair shot
Idk, I think Hobbes poisoned you a little bit. Nothing is certain until we are at least two preseason games in. The media will try really hard to paint a nice doom and gloom "Stuck with Sanchez" stroy to generate headlines until its proven otherwise.
You are overreacting on this one. Who's to say Rex didn't make the comment to fire up Geno? After all Geno has to earn the job just as well as Sanchez does. Everything said this time of year is hot air anyway. Don't read too much into a quote that will be forgotten & meaningless as early as this coming week
Ill be patient but I got a bad feeling Rex has too much bias and will choose Sanchez The sad part is it should be Marty's choice since he's the OC and has control over the offense
You mean the guy who hasn't signed a contract? You realize camp hasn't started yet, right? You is insane.
Ryan is done sticking up for Sanchez. We should all know that by now. Ryan won't ignore Lee and MM on this, if they come up to him and say Smith is it, he'll go with him. He won't be stubborn and say "well alright but I REALLY want to give Sanchez one last shot so ill start him". He did that already. the moments passed, Sanchez has to legitimately earn it to a point where MM backs him. If Sanchez starts it will either be because he's actually good or because Geno needed more time, which is fine. If he starts all 16 games it means Hobbes was right and the Jets went 11-5 or something like it under Sanchez's tenure, which is great. But best believe if he's given the reigns day 1 and slips up at any point, he's dropping nacho like a bad habit, like the one rex had with actual actual nachos.
Rex' comments are being blown way out of proportion. Who WOULDN'T start a 5th year vet over a green rookie who hasn't even taken a single snap in camp if the season started tomorrow? Also, do you seriously think Rex would leave his job security in the hands of Sanchez, even if he thought Geno was better, just because he's his "guy"? C'mon. Hell, the look he had after Tennessee last year should tell you all you need to know about what Rex thinks of Mark. It's simple: the two will battle it out and the guy who performs the best wins. Whether that be Mark or Geno is irrelevant.
It's obvious anyone would start Mark right now But I've yet to see one teammate or coach come out and support Geno Rex Mangold Holmes I want this thing to play out without it looking like sides are being taken
The Jets drafted him in the second round. That's all the support he'll get till camp starts. One thing's for sure...Geno is not gonna win the job with schmooze politics.
you are being impatient, and overreacting. Rex said nothing but the obvious, as you already have pointed out. So why are you tripping? There is no blind loyalty to Sanchez. Take a look at how Rex looked at Sanchez after the Tenn game again. In my opinion he's seen enough. Factor in that he is also coaching for his job this year, and Geno will play as soon as he's ready (barring Sanchez completely outplaying him).. Also, it should not be Marty's choice. It is Rex's choice, with input from Marty and Lee. The HC makes that call..
I'm afraid Alex Smith is his ceiling now. The offensive system might make him look better than he really is, but if replace him, the offense becomes more dynamic and really flourishes. At this point, Alex Smith would be a good step forward for Sanchez and the team. Protect the ball, make throws when they're there, don't force anything, don't force anything, don't force anything, don't force anything. Yeah I do believe Sanchez looked worse than he really was last year, but instead of looking like a bottom 3 QB in the league I see him more as a bottom 10 just by the way he played regardless of talent or lack of it. Isn't this the time you kind of start to wait for training camp cuts and see who's available through there? Maybe we hit on one of our UDFA guys, but I think we might be waiting for that. We really can't roll out with Hill and Kerley while Holmes is rehabbing. On top of that, Hill has shown some injury problems. I'm not going to call him injury prone, but he's had some struggles
i think its stupid because he should have said we will see what happens in camp. the fact sancho would start tomorrow doesnt mean anything, so why say some stupid shit like that? this is the same guy who stood there on draft day and told us how kyle wilson would start. he just has a penchant for saying stupid things. that said i dont think it means that sancho has been given the job already.
Sanchez, is working on cutting down on Fumbles, and the scheme should cut down on his INTS. Geno, is working on dropping back. This was never going to be an even race. Besides, while I defend Sanchez, because of the horrid coaching he has had here, and think he will be a good player under Morningwood.... Its not fair to fuck Geno Smith over, or the franchise based on the crap offensive coaching we have had, invalidating Sanchez. The best possible outcome is for Sanchez succeed enough to keep Geno on the bench, until he gets close to the end of his Rookie deal. Now, ...that may be possible, on the few clips Ive seen since he was drafted, i think his release is faster and more authoritative than Sanchez.... But... If the Jets contend for, or make the p,ayoffs this year....it's likely that idzik has dollar signs in his eyes, because Sanchez having been overpaid, will (sort of...) be underpaid, and depending on how Geno develops, he will be underpaid for a long time. (though that opens up a Revis situation, with a far more important player, and hes currently unsigned over 300k in guarantees on a 5 year deal)
Its pretty much his job to lose. Now, imho the if/when is a low percentage play. I see 3-1 at least over the first four, and the back end isnt a killer.
You earn the QB job in the film room and on the practice field. Preseason is even meaningless because of the vanilla defense and offense played. Why is hard to believe Sanchez will start and is the starter. If the team thought Geno was ready to start Day 1 he would have been drafted higher. The worst thing the Jets can do is start Geno before he is ready because fans like jeti are sick of Sanchez. One has nothing to do with other there is no man love for Mark or Geno. There is an outside chance Geno out performs Sanchez in camp but is very unlikely. Geno will be eased in to this offense and developed to get him every chance to succeed. Typical jet fans they think Geno should be tom Brady day 1 It takes 4 to 5 years to develop QB sometimes longer. Mark was on a similar to track to QB's like big Ben until that disaster of last season. Let's what he can do with a decent OC I still worry the talent is not there and no need to get a rookie QB killed with no weapons.
And the moment Mark sucks again (he most likely will) you'll go RIGHT ahead and blame Marty for being a bad OC. Yep...I can see you and Hobbes now
The thing to remember about what's going on with the Jets QB's and Marty M is that he's not a miracle worker. At the end of the day Michael Vick did get his completion percentage up but he was still a turnover prone often-injured QB. The main failings that he had as a player were masked by MM's WCO not fixed by it. So expecting the new WCO to get Sanchez completion percentage up is not unreasonable but expecting him to not turn the ball over is. The turnovers are the most destructive aspect of Sanchez game at this point. That's why a move to Geno Smith sooner or later seems inevitable. He may also have fatal flaws that prevent him from becoming a good NFL QB but they're not proven at this point like Sanchez flaws are.
