No doubt man don't take my quotes as disputing your account of what happened. I believe you. My point is that you absolutely do not take the account of a poster on a message board that you don't even know and use that as evidence that overrides everything else when there is ample evidence on game tape to tell you what to expect from said QB. The guy has serious confirmation bias issues.
No worries man. I hate to single the guy out...You have to admire his passion. What I don't understand is it's almost become like he's more of a Sanchez fan than a Jets fan. To outright deny clearview notions like the butt fumble is just irrational. I'll say this though...I hope he's right. I hope Sanchez proves everyone wrong & finally plays up to his potential. This franchise has had sore QB luck for far too long
Unfortunately, Sanchez's play has forced the issue. If he has sat out the last half of last season, he wouldn't have spun down the rabbit hole. Now he's got to prove himself every time he steps on the field. Too bad really. But that's today's NFL. The media doesn't help either. The machine must be fed.
Its funny now the media is coming out and defending him once a real challenger finally steps up to the plate. Make up your mind! I was a huge Sanchez supporter but now its "meh". I mean he still has time but it just sucks that we never got a game from Sanchez where its like, wow he DOMINATED that game! It never happens, and it seems he not the type who can elevate the play of others yet (might happen this season) but thats just disappointing.
That he can't. Sanchez is a product of whats around him, give him a great RB and steady weapons and watch your offense be alright. otherwise he'll struggle. It applies to a lot of QB's, but thats what separates the franchise QB's from the JAG's. Sanchez is an experienced JAG with playoff experience. He only very rarely LEADS a team to victory not he field (and that certainly hasn't occurred lately) and any team with him has ore to compensate for then that bargained. I could see him doing really well in minnesota right now. In NY, he'll be at most a steady stop gap. though yes, at the cost of Hobbes going on an I was right tour, I would love for him to turn into an elite man with this new offense. Its his only shot at staying a Jet.
Exactly, I understand Hobbes and the "Nobody else is better... so deal with it" but come on? Fans cant dream of having an elite QB or at least a top 15 QB for this team? This is why when a guy like Geno smith gets drafted people cling on to him to be the next Savior, because there are unknowns with him. With Sanchez... 95% is known.
Thats a good still. Thanks. And no, if I blew past the pic, my apologies...its totally appreciated. It doesnt really show in the clip.(and...wtf is Greenes purpose there...? There is still another player to occupy the CB, And the detritus on the line is an impediment to getting to the ball carrier) I still think the blocking matters. And the fact that Hillliarad had a grand total of eight carries, and Sparano called about 40 passes to backfield players says other wise. I still think Greene blows the play, just on the stats, and Sparanos play calling..while i was clearly wrong on Hilliard being set...his not being surprised and Greene hanging out with no purpose, could say Hilliard was a factor to freeze the defense and open the hole(hence the 2 on 3 block that occurs, which admittedly could also be happenstance)But is it more likely, or less likely, that (and look at the hole) theyd be giving Hilliard a ninth carry, and putting him against the safety, or putting him blocking the safety giving Greene, who has no purpose int the play as shown, a chance to go the distance?) While the picture proves me wrong about hilliard in a taking position, he still doesnt seem surprised when he doesnt get the ball....but in any case....it is far more plausible... But...hey I was wrong about Hilliard not flashing his hands. I do appreciate the pic....(and the effort) At the end of the day....this play, has been over exaggerated ad nauseum. Backfield players run into OL players, constantly, in the St.Louis game, Jackson runs into his centers ass, he just doesnt cough it up..if Sanchez has the ball covered and doesnt fumble it..we aint talkin about it, and thats on him. He is very careless about holding the ball..for a guy that touches it every snap, thats a big issue.
How about we start, with having a coach that can build an elite offense. There should be no confusion here. I want Smith to succeed. Be better than Sanchez. I dont think he is right now, and...think that Sanchez (everyone here knows it) has been mismanaged. The best outcome for the Jets, not Sanchez and Smith...is for Sanchez to succeed, and Smith to grow,
QFT. Do you also notice, how the machine never talks about coaching except at the head coach level? I dont think he spun down the bunnyhole, but...carelessnes with the ball has got him, and us to this point. The difference is, I think thats a coaching issue, In every Major sport guys get to that level on talent, not mechanics. Try watching Major league baseball players try to bunt. Its the most basic hitting approach possible. And most....cant.
i dont want this. i dont think that mark sanchez potential is very high. if he plays up to what i consider his potential i worry that we will end up going with him the full year this year and then next year. now if he goes out there and plays far beyond what i consider his potential and is a top 10 qb then i will be happy, for the short term. i dont really think mark sanchez can make me happy for the long term. even if he played well i would have absolutely no confidence he would be consistent at it.
Rex said if we played tomorrow he'd go with Sanchez but were not playing tomorrow No shit Rex you go with Mark but why say some dumb shit like that
How awesome would it be if Geno Smith turns out to be amazing like one of the 2012 rookie QB's and all the posts in this thread turn out to be meaningless?
Oh yes...even after your points have been obliterated, the play has been broken down to stills and analyzed, and quotes from actual players involved in the play have been taken into consideration, you still say Greene blows the play based on stats. Great job, bro! You aren't a Jets fan. You are a Sanchez groupie.
Yeah...the "bunnyhole" maybe the wrong phrase, but it was obvious that Sanchez was in some kind of funk. Whatever you call it, he wasn't working it out on the field or getting it done against decent teams. The coaching was (is?) horrible, but the decision to not bench him was just dumb on Rex's part. I wish "carelessnes with the ball" was Sancho's only problem. Holding onto the ball with two hands is easier to correct than blindly throwing downfield into triple coverage. Those are two different issues. People lump them together to amplify his turnovers, but they're two distinctly different problems. I'm having trouble understanding the bunting analogy...if you're batting .195 but you can lay down a great bunt, you are not batting third.
lol yeah the bunting analogy is dumb because it is obvious why learning how to do it correctly would take a backseat to other things. There is no obvious reason as to why a yr 4 QB wouldn't have learned how to protect the ball, other than that at game speed he loses his head.
Im a Jets fan first, Kurt. Imp, its better that Sanchez flourish under a decent Oc, forcing Smith to the bench, until after his second contract is signed, Sanchez has flashed enough talent to warrant a shot under a real O.C. And...fwiw.,,check out Beaches posts.....in the football areana, 75% of his posts are troll stalking me or Junc. I wasnt putting you on the spot, just noting your observation. I think, in spots hes shown thattalent. Obviously others disagree, and think team play made every thinghappen for him. Like Holmes repeating hos SB catch in NE. Or Edwards in Ne and in Indy so on and so forth. Its ireational to blame the QB for every thing and credit him for nothing, and the fact is.,,for a Jet...Sanchez has produced more of those moments that any other QB. Under shit coaching. I dont see that as a bad argument.
