I'm going to close the other thread but will start the new one with the US winning for the 8th straight time tonight this time with a 1-0 win over Costa Rica in the Gold Cup. Brek Shea scores the winning goal for the US who certainly look the class of the tournament so far...of course Mexico will be waiting for us.
Not shocked but disapointed that Edinson Cavani was sold to PSG for a record fee (for France) of 84 million. PSG should absolutely destroy the rest of Ligue 1 as their bench is better than most teams 1st team.
Won the group, We're gonna do something finally? Next Game (Means nuthin) Sunday, July 21 United States vs. El Salvador, 4 p.m. ET (M&T Bank Field; Baltimore, Md.)
As a Napoli fan I'm sad to see him go although it is cool to see him reunited with Lavezzi. I'm sure we'll see Ibra move on. He's not worth 84 million.
Why is PSG dropping money like this...Wow, that league is crap and honestly they need to shore up on defense...They have the offense. Ibra come to Arsenal
Because they can. That's the only reason lol. De Laurentis put such a high release clause in Cavani's contract because he was sure no one would match it. He wasn't counting on the Parisians and A.S. Monaco essentially having their own French arms race. I'd love to see Ibra land in the EPL. I'd also like to see him go back to Italy, but he's played for all the Milan teams as well as Juvie, so there's nowhere to really go besides Rome. At the end of the day, I still think he follows Ancelotti and ends up on Real Madrid. As for Napoli, it's going to be pretty awesome rooting for one of the only Seria A teams that has money to drop. I didn't think they'd be big players in the transfer market, but apparently with Albiol looking to come on board they've also touched base and have a legitimate shot at swooping in and taking Hugain away from what looked like a sure negotiation with Arsenal.
I believe he's Russian, but he still has enough in the bank vault to buy the Greek isle of Cyprios for his daughter as a birthday present in between throwing down the funds for Joao Mutinho and Falcao.
I had to look it up, yup Russian who I'm sure made all his money legally BTW for a Russian Billionaire's daughter I expected better, kind of disapointing.
Is it the QF? I thought that was the last game before the QF?... Holy Shit, I just checked...you're right! :metal: Makes me wanna go get tix now
US now with 9 straight wins a record, granted they haven't played against top teams but some younger guys building confidence. I really am liking what I am seeing frome Joe Corona and Eddie Johnson has had a fantastic summer. They look like the best squad in the Gold Cup but if I remember correctly this isn't the year that the winner goes to the Confed Cup. That's in 2 years.
I don't want to derail the thread but I am amazed by how soccer is really becoming popular. I heard hundreds of folks tuned in for the USA vs. Washington generals match the other day. I was wrong and you guys were right:grin:
