You can't label him a bust because you assume he will do poorly in the future. You judge him based on what he has done so far and that is a winning record in the regular season and postseason in 4 years. Jamarcus Russell is a bust. Gholston is a bust. Sanchez has won most of his career.
So we can look at a few positive games and take those out and would that "skew the numbers" as well? So if I take away the week 1 Bills game and 1st Patriots game then I can say those skewed his numbers last season right? How about in 2010? Take away the Bills games, 1st Pats game and the Bears games numbers and those might skew the numbers and he was actually worse. You can't simply take away certain games. You'll literally do anything to defend Sanchez even at the expense at any kind of sound logic and reasoning.
I judge him based on how he's performed individually. Not by adding team stats and credit it to Sanchez like it's an individual accomplishment. This isn't tennis or golf. Has he helped this team his 1st two years? Yes. But he's regressed since then. And even if he improves this season it wont be the kind of improvement that this team needs in order for the Jets to compete for a SB again. If Sanchez was drafted in the 4th round then no one would call him a bust. And most people would say that they got more out of him than they would a typical 4th round QB. But sadly his draft position dictates that he's a bust because when you're drafted 5th overall, you expect to get someone that could be a franchise QB. Not a QB that you are asking to manage a game.
Wow...585 pages of this thread...can someone shut this down and start a new one...it's not worth reading.
agree maybe we should shut down all MS threads and start 1 master thread when camp starts. and maybe another one when the reg season starts.
Doesn't matter what you label him, the Jets label him a bust and that is why there is now Geno Smith on the roster. Unless of course you want us all to believe that the Jets had no greater need in the second round tan a QB to sit on the bench.
No, but Kellen Clemens isn't a good QB either. Sanchez is clearly color blind. The system run by Schotty sucks, but it doesn't matter how good the OC is if your QB continually can't make ANY throws correctly. A slant route is a slant route no matter whose system it is. There's no excuse for throwing behind the receiver or overthrowing him badly and getting picked off.
Guys, thats what the "last" button is for. Plus, it probably accounts for 90 percent of Petros traffic, at this point in time. Look at it this way, by week 3 preseason when Sanchez is starting, half of the hatebreed will start looking the other way, and by week 4, when the Jets are 3-1, the only posts will be Me heckling the naysayers....
:rofl2: Value. Pick. If the Jets were intent on Smith Replacing Sanchez, they dont play the 39 th pick lottery to get him.
Simply put, as others have said, Geno has a 98 percent chance of at LEAST playing on Sanchez's level for a significantly cheaper price. The only reason why we're even having a nearly 600 page discussion about him is because of that God-awful extension our FORMER (see the emphasis?) General Manager gave him. Without that extension, he's playing for the Chiefs.
go ahead if you want to, he stunk in 2012. You are reaching b/c you see what the reality is. He's not a bust, a bust is a guy who never has any success. he holds the franchise record for playoff wins, winning in the playoffs is what this game is all about. You can have all the meaningless fantasy stats you want, I want wins. First 2+ years was really good, last year+ was really bad. Brett Favre is pretty good, right(or was)? how come we couldn't even make the playoffs?
That former GM built teams that made 3 postseasons and won 4 postseason games, more than any other GM in the history of the franchise. It amazes me how our QB sucks, the GM sucks, some say the HC sucks yet we have the most successful stretch in franchise history. while geno is cheaper, we don't save any money if we cut Sanchez so that theory kind of goes out the window. mark will be given a chance to win his job, if he does he has one last chance top prove he's the long term guy. if not Geno will be playing sooner than later.
He had a couple good drives in that game but he had a couple crippling picks including one that gave the Jags the ball at their 45 leading to a TD, and a pick from the Jets 45. I don't know why you are so averse to assigning blame to a guy who routinely throws bad picks from good field position in games decided by a FG or less
you know that sack was on him? even if it was how did he play god awful when he led us to 22 pts and gave us a late lead w/ a long TD drive? There are numerous examples of god awful play from him through the years, the Jax game was not one of them. Name these games where he has done this? I give him blame, the blame he deserves. Folks like you blame everything on him and an example of that is blaming him for the jax game where our D blew a late lead AGAIN.
What sack are you talking about? Did I mention a sack? And it is easier for a D to blow leads when you leave points on the field. That much should be obvious. Play better for a whole game and late drives to take the lead should put the game away.
