The fumble numbers are a bit high for Geno Smith. He did play 96% of his snaps at WVU out of the shotgun or pistol though. That does have an effect on overall fumble numbers.
I think you put way to much milage on a timing based west coast offense working wonders. I agree, it'll make things better, but its not full proof. The logic that we played well in flashes under a bad system means we can play very well in a better system only goes so far. we still have a questionably effective pair of WR's (ones hurt, ones still raw) and while the slot is just fine (and would be very effective with better outside guys) and the running game has improved we don't know how good our starting QB will play. The best laid plans and all that, we're not in the position to have confidence in what we have, and we're especially not in the position to have it if we don't have an optimistic projection of what we have. A good system can't fix lack of talent (for whatever reason it exists) that much. Pressure is the name of the game, if he can't handle that then he should't be a professional QB. Thats a lousy excuse, what QB isn't under pressure from exterior factors? A QB has to, above all things, make the best out of whatever situation he's in. If its bad, make it work the best you can. Thats not saying one should always play perfectly when the situation isn't ideal, but competence under any scenario is needed to play the position. Not everything will be perfect, especially not for the 2013 Jets.
Sanchez "can write his own script"... Problem is he'd forget it on the way to the line. No, I think the key to his success is to play within his ability and not try to force things.
vicks running ability keeps another defender out of coverage and keeps the pass rush muffled so they can keep the pocket contained.that should have helped vicks comp%. my point is still valid ryan put up better #'s with the same wr.(I could argue worse with vick having dunn to throw to also) and made his wr's better.
I said this before the draft that Geno Smith has major issues with ball security. He has small hands and holds onto the football too long. Has nothing to do with being in the pistol or shotgun. RGIII didn't have that issue and he played in the shotgun the majority of his college career. Geno Smith is not ready to start, just like Aaron Rodgers before him, he needs some major restructuring. Footwork and other fundamentals.
and you wouldn't win in January. Rivers at his peak was a terrible big game QB who cost his loaded team chance after chance. The difference in our div rd meeting in 2009 was at QB, one QB tried to force things to happen and the other did not. Nicks at 50% is better than Schilens at 100% and at the very least he's a damn good decoy. W/ the Rbs they had, Cruz and a banged up Nicks it was significantly better than what we would have had healthy last year and of course we were never healthy. I love ravioli's. He wouldn't have pulled the plug(see Simms, phil circa 1984) but he would have made damn sure he stopped w/ the silly turnovers. as a rookie he had: Michael Turner Jerious Norwood Roddy White Michael Jenkins That's a lot better than what Mark had as a rookie and probably better than what he had in 2010 when he had peak talent around him. Roddy White was a young QB in 2006, do you think he broke out in 2007 b/c Joey Harrington was his QB? Jenkins #s got better b/c White got so much better and he demanded more attention thus less attention to Jenkins. Ryan is a damn good QB who I think one day will bust through in January but until he does he's just a fantasy guy. he has incredible weapons and has pretty much since day 1. After 2008 they only added the best receiving TE in NFL history(or at least top 3) and then Julio Jones who is BETTER than White and White would be the best WR we've had since Keyshawn. It was based on 2012, the fact that he was 28th and not 32nd tells us a lot based on what he did last year.
Well I hope U all saw yesterdays NFL 32 show on ESPN where Jaws did a # on our QB. He in fact said he was not a quality NFL QB or for that matter will ever be a elite NFL QB sorry to say
jaws is the same guy that told us Kellen Clemens was going to be a really good starter in this league. I doubt he said exactly what champ says but he hears and sees things differently than they actually are. I am sure he bashed his poor play from last year as anyone should but I doubt he said he's not a quality NFL QB.
I expected nothing less from U. Since I guess U did not see the program I would suggest U keep your dial tuned to ESPN & watch a rerun & see exactly what he said. After U do U can then comment leaving your bias towards MS however outside the door
Since it appears U did not see or hear it then really U cannot comment on what was said or not said
Yeah I'm gonna take Jaws seriously when he ranked Matt Flynn, a QB that didn't take one snap last year as his top 30 or whatever QBs. I saw his rankings last year too and they sucked
I love how nyjunc is defending Sanchez for his performance from two years ago(last playoff win). As he can hopefully see, a lot of things change in two years. Sanchez is not good, has been mediocre, and will most likely not become good barring a miracle. I'm sorry, but it's true. We should try and ease Geno into the starting role now and see what he has. If we don't, it will be a mistake.
I have said all along he was awful last year, I don't know what else you guys want me to say? but b/c a guy has a bad year does that mean he can't playa again in this league? does that mean we give up on him? you know he's not the first player to have a bad year in this league, right?
He was awful last year, bad the year before that, mediocre the year before that, and bad the year before that. Has yet to have a good season. He hasn't regressed he just hasn't progressed, and that's the problem.
