Rex has had enough of him, I think. That Tennessee game where he walked RIGHT past him says it all...
Being a head coach is a different process than being a coordinator. A coordinator has multiple levels of people above and alongside him who have real input into whether a player is good enough to play or not. A head coach has nobody but the GM and most GM's will not over-rule the HC on a player talent decision. That's part of the job of being a head coach, to make the tough calls when you like a player but he's just not good enough to play for you on a regular basis. Rex has to get this down. Staying with guys he's comfortable with has been dragging the team down the last couple of years. He needs to get edgy at this point and take some risks on younger guys because the vets are killing him.
Jesus. You speak like Jets offense gave the defense a chance. No, they didn't. Like I said above, if they could manage stinking 5 yards and FG, the defense wouldn't have needed to worry about Tebow running - so they could concentrate on anything more than 5 yard outside. FG doesn't tie the game now - that's a HUGE difference. Instead, the offense does NOTHING. Or should I say, the defense should be thankful that Sanchez didn't throw pick 6 again? That, in a nutshell, is Sanchez game for the past two years. As I would jokingly say, if Sanchez hits his passes just like Tebow does, WITHOUT THE RUNNING THREAT, what good is he anyway in the first place? [In terms of completion rate, Tebow came first, and Sanchez came at 7th from behind, among starters. That list included: Tebow, Gabbert, Bradford, Painter, Ponder, Skelton then Sanchez. Good riddance.] And I don't even hate Sanchez like most of the blind Sanchez haters here do. You know that, Hobbes.
Just rewatch the last game of the season vs Buffalo. Look at the incompetent throws Sanchez makes all game long, and listen to the incredulous reactions of Rich Gannon ... And then come back here and tell me Sanchez isn't easily among the 4 or 5 worst starting QBs in the league. Gannon doesn't provide Sanchez with the laundry list of excuses we hear from Hobbes and the other Sanchez supporters. The man knows what it takes to play QB in the NFL and he just shakes his head in disbelief at the "quality" of Sanchez's play, and says that he simply needs to play much better. Period. Our problem is that he can't play much better. He's shown us who he is. The guy is a panicky, innacurate, mistake-prone, turnover machine, and if he's starting on opening day we better hope Wilkerson, Miliner, Coples, Cromartie etc. play like All-Pros every game he's in there ... Because if they don't give us that level of play we have very little shot of winning many of those first 9 games. By the time we come back from the BYE, Sanchez will certainly be on the bench and we'll be seeing what we have in Geno Smith. Suck it up guys ... It's almost over. We just need to deal with this garbage play for 9 more games at most.
Week 17 should not count, as he was benched, then thrown into action randomly on Thursday of that week. Team had already quit too. Doesn't matter though. If you only count 2012, then Sanchez is probably the worst QB in the NFL. Can't do that though. It is unfair to him.
Horrible game played yes, but he also didn't get many reps that week in practice or chance to prepare. I remember Sanchez throwing a horrible pass in the beginning, & an amazing pass to J. Kerley who couldn't stay in bounds. You can see that pass on youtube in J. Kerley highlights. Sanchez gets decked and drops a dime on the left sideline. Just shows the inconsistency with him and frustration with our offense.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxxusXZ-1xc&feature=youtube_gdata_player That's the video, shows some good stuff from Kerley and Sanchez. The pass im speaking of is at 2:27 mark or close to it. Good stuff Also on the video you can see Sanchez working the pocket, & put the ball in where his wr can get it. It's kinda like a Sanchez highlight video also. Just wish he and the offense were more consistent.
I don't deflect blame, I give him and the O proper blame. I a not naïve enough to think ALL of our problems were b/c of him and the O. To pretend like our D was great like you are. He has better fantasy #s and to the average fan that is all they care about. It can be easier to see from afar. 2009 was nothing like 2012, he had a few terrible, rookie like games to skew his #s but he was good overall and played excellent football in postseason. 2010 had a couple of down momments but was mostly up, 2011 was more up and down and ended poorly. he has had ONE bad year, a year where Chaz Schilens and Clyde Gates were 2 of his main weapons. 2 stacked teams? he's NEVER played on a stacked team, never had elite weapons, never had a truly great D. he had a "great" reg season run game in 2009 but in postseason Thomas Jones was awful and Greene had a couple of good runs. The team was so stacked when he took over that w/ a HOF QB, no Tom Brady and the easiest sched we have ever seen they couldn't make the playoffs the year before.
I was bored the other day and actually zipped through the week 1 game thread. The optimism was rampant. Too bad our season resembled a Korean missile test.
50% is not the proper amount of blame for a QB who was given the ball near midfield twice and at the Titans 35 yardline and 25 yardline and led the team to just 10 points. 50% is not the proper amount of blame for a QB who had FIVE turnovers in a 4 point loss. Our D held the Titans to 0 points off of our O's FIVE turnovers. They held the Titans to 14 points and our special teams blocked a FG. The D had some breakdowns and they deserve a small share of the blame. But it is tiny compared to Sanchez and the O. This is a team game and is never 100% on 1 player but in the Titans game Sanchez was as close as 1 player can get. Someone who only places 50% on Sanchez is not someone who knows the game. That person would be a Superfan.
The D also allowed TDs right after we scored to take leads. To act like the D was great is being silly and unfair. Ten's O was every bit as bad as ours and our D allowed them to tale back leads twice on TDs. keep hurling insults, unfortunately for you it doesn't help you understand this game.
Insults? You have a Superfan logo as your avatar. Sorry if me calling someone who only places 50% of the blame on Sanchez in that game a Superfan offended you. My posts speak for themselves just as your posts do. They makes it pretty clear who understands the game and who doesn't.
You don't get why I have that logo as my avatar? You have never said something more true, our posts speak for themselves. There are those that know the game and those that are average fans, it's not an insult to be an average fan so don't take it that way. Most people are average fans and rely solely on rankings and nonsense like that to "evaluate". the average fan thinks we had a truly great defense, the average fan thinks a great D can win w/ any QB. As you learn and acquire more knowledge you'll understand that isn't true.
I wouldn't have said it if it weren't true. You just have no clue which side of the fence you are sitting on. I have no idea why you have that logo as your avatar. I thought it was because you finally accepted the fact that you are a Superfan but it offends you when someone calls you that so I guess that is not the reason. It is a bit hypocritical for you to accuse me of hurling insults and then go on to tell me that I don't know the game and am an average fan. I don't take offense to it. You say the same thing to other great posters all the time so I take it as a compliment. I actually feel bad for you sometimes. You are like a crazy person that thinks that he is the only sane person and everyone else around him is crazy.
I do feel like the only sane person here sometimes, it's tough dealing w/ certain folks who have no idea what they are watching.
anyone who blames mark by himself w/o realizing the circumstances doesn't have a clue. he deserves to be bashed for hi spoor play but we also have to realize what he had to work with. I think that is something that most ignore and it's not really fair. I have never said mark is great or that he will be great but it's hard to win in January in this league and we know with the right cast around him he can win in January so I'm not quite ready to give up on him yet.
Junc ^ "You think Sanchez deserves more than 50% of the blame for 5 turnovers and leading the O to 10 points in a 4 points loss? You just don't know what you are watching. I'm the only sane person here." OK I've had my fun. I'm going to stop now. You can keep calling me an average fan and saying that I don't know the game. I'll let the posts speak for themselves. I will respond when you want to start talking about football again.
