I would think last year's Super Bowl probably started past his bedtime, because about a billion people saw the momentum clearly shift in SF's favor after the lights went out.

But don't believe me, believe Ed Reed.

"The problem was, we were talking it up on the sideline, like 'They're trying to take our momentum,' " Baltimore safety Ed Reed said. "And I was like, 'There are two teams on this field right here.' But once we started talking about it, it happened."

I believe momentum does have an affect but it is just a feeling. It gets the players pumped up or lets them down. One drive or play does not end the game like Junc makes it out. A shift in momentum should not be an excuse for putrid play the rest of the game. How many times have you seen momentum shift back and forth in games? Good teams respond to shifts in momentum. Putting 50% of the blame on the D for the Titans loss when they allowed 14 points all game and blaming it on momentum is insane. They allowed 2 TDs. Why didn't the O get some momentum when they held them to 0 points off of 5 turnovers?

You forgot about the 11 drives in between where the O had the chance to extend the lead beyond 3 point.

Our O STUNK, especially at that point. What would have helped a struggling O would have been to shut down Tennessee rather than allow them to immediately score and take the lead.

no, right where he was drafted. Would you rather have Josh Freeman? I love this hindsight 20/20 type of reaction. SHould Pat WHite have been drafted in the 2nd round? SHould Mike Wallace been drafted in the 3rd?

Yeah, the Titans game should not be discussed by anyone, anymore. We need to put that game (and 2012 season) behind us. Definitely can't just blame momentum for that loss. Can't credit the Titans either. Embarrassing.

It is just a classic example of how Junc thinks. The O scores 10 points and turns the ball over 5 times including a fumble when we had it on the Titans 24 yardline and the D deserves 50% of the blame for allowing 14 points. :eek:hmy:

You can't make this stuff up. I could take him more seriously if he would man up and place the blame where it belongs. The D deserves some of the blame but it is not anywhere near what the O deserves. There is no shame in calling it like it is.

It's a classic example of how someone that knows the game thinks. Someone like you THINKS the D was outstanding and did all they could, my point all along was that the D was not great, they had chances and blew it too so while mark Sanchez and the O get and deserve the bulk of the blame the defense deserves their share as well. Not as much as the O but their share.

    What are you smoking, junc?

If, for instance, Sanchez just took a sack then punted the ball away, Broncos are not in position to mount anything with half semblance of comeback. It is mathematically impossible. You cannot mount a comeback in 2 possession game. If Broncos did score TD, Jets would either run the clock down, or punt the ball away with less than a minute left on the clock, probably with no time out left for Broncos. The only reason Denver had any reason to play that last drive was precisely because of that gay bitch you so staunchly defend.

Do you know what's funny? Know that, I didn't want to bring X's and O's to this discussion (as I feel like I am cheating in doing so.) Plax has been giving signs to Sanchez all game long, to THROW OVER THE DEFENDER. I have seen it - it was seen a few times in the camera, so I am more than certain they talked over that in sideline. Plax has beaten his defender a few times, [which in itself is a rarity] was waiting for the ball over his shoulder, only to see the ball zipping at him through low altitude. The defenders gleefully deflected it. Not once. Not twice. ALL GAME LONG.

What does that mean? Throw over the defender because - the defender is sitting in a zone, waiting for the pass. [Yes. That's how the Broncos defended Plax - not giving any free lane for easy slants and posts. Since his speed is not a concern, zones with brackets are more than sufficient to snuff the threat over Plax except... at the sideline; they basically gambled that Sanchez won't throw a fade. He didn't all game long.] Since Plax has height advantage, he can punish the defense just like that. Also, if Sanchez doesn't lob the ball, the pass is picked off.

So what does Sanchez do? He throws a BULLET, which was readily picked off for 6 (It was intended for Plax, mind you); the defenders KNEW it was coming. All right? Defend that. Tell me how that is the defense's fault. Tell me how the defense could have stopped that from happening. Tell me why the defense is to blame for that stupidity. I will be looking forward to it. Like I said above, if Sanchez just took a sack then punted the ball away, it is Jets game to lose, with no comeback of any sort in sight. [And don't think this is but the only case either; Jets games are literally LITTERED with this sort of bullshit. I am saying the Offense is at fault for a reason.]

Was the D put on the field w/ a lead late and w/ the opponent pinned deep in their territory w/ a QB that can't throw?

Now you know what signals Plax was giving to Sanchez?

mark and the O were TERRIBLE that night, the D played GREAT for all but 5 minutes but a big time D doesn't allow a QB that can't throw to go 95 yds in the closing minute. At the very least they hold Den to a FG attempt so the game goes to OT but they couldn't even do that.

    1. Watch the game tape yourself. You will see frustrated Plax telling Sanchez to throw OVER. A few times.

    2. The score is 10-3 at that point. The last thing you want is a pick 6 - which is precisely what Sanchez does. How can anybody defend that? Ah. Right. You ignore that, since you KNOW it is indefensible. (Pretty neat trick there, by the way. Won't work here though. Defend that.)

    3. Last, but not the least, you seem to underestimate Tebow. He has killed numerous teams at the last minute drives. He is a running threat himself, so you need to have safeties in the box more often than not. Unless the offense blows the game out of the water, to the point where you can basically tell Tebow to run the clock down, he has to be accounted for in defensive game planning. Defending Tebow is not as easy as you make it sound. He had 4 comeback wins during that season, and one more in the playoffs - against the vaunted Steelers, notwithstanding. It just shows how biased you are, in defense of that worthless gay bitch.

    4. What's funny is, Jets could have been in that precise position to ignore Tebow's threat on the ground. Only Sanchez fucked it up. Yet it is not his fault. Just amazing.

I am not defending him in any way, if he doesn't throw that pick 6 maybe we win? or maybe the D collapses AGAIN. We don't know but what we do know is that w/ a 3 pt lead late the defense allowed a QB that can't throw a football to lead his offense 95 yds in the final minutes for the win.

Someone who knows the game doesn't put 50% of the blame on the D for that game. A Superfan does.

You don't even read properly, do you?

Jets were at 21 yard line at that time. If they punted the ball away, Tebow would have to march down 70 yards or so, with 7 points down. If the previous drive is any indication, Tebow with 7 points down - it ain't happening. He couldn't do a thing from Jets 44 yards line. No reason to believe, all of a sudden, he gets a life back and mounts anything serious, with 7 points down, at his own 30.

And you make it sound like the defense didn't do the job; tell me, the defense held Denver scoreless, starting from JETS 40. Not once, not twice, THREE TIMES in the second half alone. What was Sanchez doing all the time? He was 1. going 3-and-outs, and 2. throwing pick 6's.

Moreover, it is not like the offense didn't have a chance to ice the game away either. With the score at 13-10, they had the ball at Denver 45, before Tebow marched for 95 yards. Just, Sanchez went 3 and out like he always does. [Special teams and defense played with near perfection, pinning the Broncos near their 10 yard line - and the offense had to just go 3 and out.]

So, since the offense gave the team 3 point lead at the last minute, the defense has to hold it? That's your WHOLE FUCKING POINT? Then, in reverse, if the defense affords a good field position, isn't it the offense's job to score? Pinned deep in your own territory? That's what special teams are for - to PUNT THE BALL AWAY. No?

i completely disagree with you. there were 5 turnovers, which is 5 extra times they had to defend, typically from worse field position than they would have had to if there wasnt a turnover. the d played amazingly with what they were faced with because of the HORRIBLE qb play. its absurd to say the d was 50 percent to blame for that loss.

i dont remember if it was testaverde or whoever it was that started the momentum talk, it is real and it does absolutely matter. for anyone who has played at even the pop warner level its something that is difficult to control. when things start rolling and you get in that zone its almost impossible to be stopped. when the momentum is against you it is difficult to stop it and you know that all you have to do is make one stop to put the brakes on it but its just so difficult to do. i can remember many times in my playing days standing on the field knowing that we had to break the momentum.

He led his O NINETY FIVE yards for a TD, why couldn't he lead them 70 yards for a TD?

Again, the D played great up until the game winning/losing drive, once they blew the rest of the good lay gets thrown out the window.

I just love the notion that if we didn't throw that INT that Den couldn't score on a 70 yd drive meanwhile they wound up scoring on a 95 yd drive. Just amazing.

The D didn't play amazing, they faced an offense as bad as ours and when that offense needed a score against our D they got it. I don't remember saying 50% but they get their share of the blame regardless of what the % is. I am pretty sure I said Mark and the O deserved most of the blame.

Of course momentum is real, anyone in that Stadium that day understood what that 99 yd TD did for BOTH teams. It changed a game and season for both teams.

i dont remember your original post so i cant say the numbers for sure.

if you are giving sanchez the lions share of hte blame for that loss then i am with you. sometimes with so many people things get out of context.
