Of course Brandon Weeden and Mark Sanchez can be discussed in the same context. And of course, completion percentage is the only stat in football that matters. I don't want the Jets to win a Super Bowl, I just want my QB to pad his percentage stats.
i have to be fair about it, i cant question sanchez dedication or toughness. those are the 2 things he really does do well. he works hard and he stays on the field. to say that isnt true you are getting too in love with your position of not liking him or you havent been watching. everything points to his work ethic being good and we have seen he plays just about every week.
This is very fair, and its part of why I feel its not time to abandon him YET. Guys who work hard but have flaws are sometimes able to overcome their issues. He's still young, the talent is there, and as bad as he's been at times, he's also shown flashes of utter brilliance. Giving up is for losers.
Sarcasm's fun. Mark has a chance to become one of the greatest comeback stories in NFL history. The guy is constantly criticized and critiqued, both fairly and unfairly. All I want to see is some fucking fire out of this guy. I do not want to see him dancing around like a frat boy for his buddy to videotape and put on the Internet.
Nice deflection, it is the basis of our disagreement that you cant win so of course you would deflect. And Yes, Mark Sanchez did have the worst supporting cast last year in the NFL. I dont need to YouTube the worst of Mark Sanchez 2011 or 2012, maybe you need to YouTube the Best of Mark Sanchez 2009 and 2010...I bet you see a guy with time in the pocket and quality skilled players getting open and catching the ball...
It does look immature but honestly most of us would love to be where he is. Young, rich, in good shape, partying with good looking girls, and not giving a shit your fan base thinks you are the football equivalent of elephant excrement. I'm reserving my reservations until mid-late preseason. I'm excited about the new o system but really worried about the receiving corps. Will be a very uncertain time.
I agree, he's never been known to be a slacker, in fact the opposite. He's also always been very tough and durable on the field. The problem is that when he would take a big hit in 09 or 10 he would get back up looking unphased and determined. When he took big hits in 11 and 12 he would get up looking skittish and in pain. No question he can take a beating and keep on playing, but after 2010 he seemed to lose his ability to mentally bounce back from big hits and he just hasn't been the same since, regardless of who you want to blame for that. I just can't see holding out much hope that he's suddenly going to get his mojo back but I guess it's possible...
He did mention that Sanchez made his share of mistakes .... what you did is called selective reading. Either way ... I hope the Jets name a starter soon so we can semi put this damn thing to bed. Its tiresome.
I've been saying this for a while now. You can't coach mental toughness. If you lose it, it's gone - only Mark himself can regain that confidence in himself.
2012? I see an offense lead by a guy that isnt an OC, where the number 1 TE, misses half a season, where the number one WR, misses 12 games, the number two WR, a raw second rd pick, misses about 8 games, the slot receiver is now number one, and the OC, stops throwing the ball to backfield players. Did you see something different?
This is case in point why they should've sent Rex packing with Tannenbaum. If you are going to rebuild, do it right. Don't half-ass it, with a new GM who wants to rebuild and a HC/QB combo that can't afford to rebuild. That costs this organization a whole year on the field, and sets them back with personnel. I believe at the end of the year, what you described will be exactly how it shakes out... (except I believe Geno will get some garbage time at the end of the year)
No, its a team sport. Mark shoulders a decent amount of the blame IMO as he is tasked with making decisions. Now his decisions are forced when the New York Jets fail to surround him with an adequate supporting cast (something they haven done since 2010). If anybody on this board thinks Geno Smith (or insert any QB you want aside from Brady, Peyton, Breese, and Rodgers) could have lead this team to a playoff birth last year than you are just kidding yourself. Its not everybodys else's fault but Mark, but its not all on Mark as a vast majority here would have you believe...
I read it but I don't agree with the talent argument Aaron Rodgers has a shit O-Line No BIG TIME receiver(Nelson, Jennings, Cobb and Jones are all good not great) and an inconsistent Tight End and no run game and still made the playoffs At some point Sanchez needed to step up and perform, regardless of anything and we are going to expect the same thing out of Geno when it's his turn But at this point all Mark has shown is he needs Elite everything around him something we don't have. Great QBs elevate the play of others around them, Sanchez doesn't
