I'm REALLY tired of all the QB talk... i'm surprised you all haven't ran out of things to say about it.... so just to get an input and change the subject for 45 minutes.. who is your current roster - top 5 favorite jet to burst onto the scene ? in order starting from #1 being most likely. mine is 1.) Muhammad Wilkerson 2.) Jeremy Kerley 3.) Quinton Coples 4.) Sheldon Richardson 5.) Stephen Hill <--- ... oh god have mercy on our souls i hope.
Well for my semi-monthy post, I'd say 1 MoWilk - He's already breaking out, but it will be louder/more appreciated this year 2 Coples - Too much talent and size/speed to not be successful 3 Geno Smith - young running QBs always seem to have some early success until defenses adjust to them, if he starts 8 games or so I can see him having success 4 Stephen Hill - showed a lot of promise early last year, needs to stay healthy and he's a matchup nightmare 5 Josh Bush - Liked what I read about him in the Cromarte camp article, Think he could step up as a league-average starting safety for us
good thread. i will get mine in before thisturns into a sanchez thread 1. demario davis.his speed is going to be a big upgrade from past years. 2. joe mcknight. he is goingto get the ball in space and show the athleticism that makes him dangerous. 3. hill. he is a project but it will come together for him. this year? i think so 4.howard. he showed some skill last year.this year he cements his position on the line 5. coples. double digit sacks coming soon
I know... for some reason it's either good hands no speed,or stone hands super sonic... Rarely do you find a WR with both.. now Hill can break out and be a top WR if he just get's his hands right. we will have to hope....
I'm feeling these ones.. Joe McKnight wasn't ever used properly,but now with a OC that knows how to use him it turns McKnight into a VERY useful back. Plus the man just WANTS the starting job so bad he can taste it i love his determination. he WANTS to be a jet. And Coples is just a monster.. size,speed - plus lining up from different angles,different defensive positions... YEAH double digits sacks ARE coming.
1. Mo Wilkerson - Dude would have gotten so much more national attention last year if Watts didn't have the season he did. 2. Quinton Coples - Double digit sacks lining up at both end and OLB. 3. Chris Ivory - This dude was an absolute monster in NO but he was in a crowded backfield so never got his chance to really shine. 4. Demario Davis - With his speed and familiarity of playing in coverage, he is going to be a much needed upgrade to MLB. Lets hop his run support is up to par. 5. GENOOOOOOOOO - He is going to come in and shock the majority of the NFL. Dude is pissed he wasn't drafted in the Top 10 and has a chip on his shoulder. Look at what MM did with Nick Foles who ran a similar system in college as Geno. Geno is going to take us to the playoffs this year. Book it.
That's tricky because while Smith has the necessary speed to be a running quarterback, he wasn't one at WVU. Maybe some indecisiveness as a rookie passer will get him running more, or perhaps it'll even be built into the game plan, but I wouldn't assume that the switch will just turn on at the next level.
That is correct.. he didn't run all that much.. looking at his highlights from Youtube.. the man only had 2 rushing TD's. But regardless if you can take off with it and get nice yardage... then so be it,we can use it to our advantage. The problem with Tebow was,is when he came in EVERY NFL DEFENSE KNEW it's either a short pass or a run.... as in Denver he was throwing too,so it worked way more effectively.. but please no more QB talk lol.. just had to get that out.
Wilkerson broke out last year so I can't include him on the list. 1. Quinton Coples 2. Santonio Holmes 3. Mark Sanchez 4. Stephen Hill 5. Vlad Ducasse runner ups: Kerley, Demario Davis, Mcknight Coples kind of goes without saying. He'll be bouncing around the line this year, and he'll see way more snaps. Last year he took a while to learn the defense, but once he got it he was beasting. I'm looking forward to his progress this year. I know Santonio Holmes is a weird one, but based on his stats the last couple years, he wasn't where he should be. You could blame lack of targets, injury, and lack of other good WRs to take the pressure off, but I predict a career season for him barring injuries to our WR core. Sanchez is arguably the most important. He has under performed virtually every year here. If he can have a 2011 type season minus the turnovers and get his comp% over 60, he'll be putting up at least top 15 level numbers. He's not there yet, but I certainly feel this is attainable. Stephen Hill is starting slow, but I feel that he can pull it together. Obviously his big issue is holding onto the ball, and we know Rex is on his ass about it. I think he'll eventually come around. We know his route running isn't the problem, he makes good double moves and hesitation steps to get some separation, and he's really quick but he's just gotta catch the ball. Vlad Ducasse is an X factor this year. Our line is depleted of guards and we need him to step it up. Many folks give him a hard time but if you follow his progress, he has indeed steadily improved his game over the last year and change. Yeah, it's slow progress, but it's still progress. His biggest area of concern is pass protection. If he can iron out this aspect of his game he has the potential to start wrecking people. He's been good as far as run blocking goes.

Demario Davis Wilkerson has already solidified himself as a top 3 3-4 DE in the league IMO, so Id consider last year his break through. Kerley has showed he can be a solid WR. IMO, Chris Ivory can lead the AFC in rushing if he stays healthy. Thats a big if, but this guy has some of the best pure running skills in the league. I think he could be our version of Marshawn Lynch if he can stay on the field. Coples should lead the team in sacks this year, especially now that he'll be playing on the edge more. Hill is the one player that this team desperately needs to step up (outside of QB). We are so thin at WR, that we need him to step up big time. He needs to be healthy, and he needs to be able to stay on the field.
Sanchez. Richardson comes off the list, every one else except Hill moves down a spot. Technically Richardson cant have a breakout year, because he hasnt had a year.
Good thread Here is my take in order of surprise 1) Joe McKnight. Vastly underutilized for his strengths in Sporano's lack of offense. Put him down for 1500 all purpose yards. 2) Mark Sanchez. People under estimate the mess of an offensive system and lack of talent he was forced to play with. His poor judgement did not help, but MM will get the most out of him 3) C. Ivory. The return of the running game to the Jets begins with Ivory. Running behind a much improved line and a creative offense will do wonders for Ivory. 4) S. Hill. He will reduce the drops by a bunch and come thru with some monster grabs. 5) Q. Coples. He was a force in the making last year. He will be ready this year.
