If the Jets don't go Geno this year and Sanchez doesn't breakout we're screwed. We go into the draft next year with almost a mandate to get one of the 1st round QB's and we've never actually seen Geno in action before we do that. If the Jets do go Geno this year things become much simpler next year. We either take the QB if we don't like what we saw out of Geno or we go with a play maker if Geno looks like the guy. If Sanchez breaks out this year? Then pink bunny rabbits will hop into the draft next year and shield Clowney until he gets down to the Jets pick.
Definitely not a hell of a lot better. They did say that there were some "catchable balls" that the receivers just didn't catch, which wouldn't necessarily have registered as a drop, so it may have been a bit better if the receivers didn't suck...but regardless it doesn't sound too positive to me.
Another positive today- The turnovers are being limited. I think the offensive camp's emphasis on limiting turnovers is starting to work.
Kimberley A. Martin @KMart_LI 7m Every #Jets offensive player I've seen/talked to either says he's "excited about" or "I love" Marty Mornhinweg's offense. #nyj
This is just stupid logic if they did not think Geno can play and want to draft a QB next season they should not have drafted him. Geno is a rookie playing him or him performing in practice will tell the coaching staff if they like what they have. We drafted a QB pretty high this year very doubtful we draft another one next year no matter what Geno or Mark do this season. Best case scenerios both Qbs look good we trade one. There is no dire need to play Geno let him learn let him get comfortable in an NFL offense give the kid a chance. My guess when the Jets are out of the playoff picture Geno will play unless Mkrk is playing lights out and the rest of the team sucks. By know means will I judge how good Geno can be with a handful of games his rookie year. I am still not sold on Cam or Kapernik they still have a lot to prove as does Luck and RG3.
Yeah he said that sunday too. Honestly I don't believe squat of that. It really still is up in the air, both have their ups and downs, neither has truly separated form the other they haven't made their decision. You have to stop believing they're that committed to him dude. If they wanted to have him start, they'll say he's going to start without false narratives.
This has been my opinion since the moment that they drafted Smith. They have to see what Smith has, or they will just experience another year of drafting QB in the wrong year. I'd rather see a year of Smith stinking up the joint than 3/4's of a year of Sanchez suck and then going forward with Smith, not knowing if he can do the job, and yet again missing out on the best QB prospects. We have to stop with having the worst timing for high-talent drafts. The Colts went from Manning to Luck on purpose. They won. I want to win for a change.
Brian Costello @BrianCoz 24m Cromartie is excused for personal reasons, team spokesman says Brian Costello @BrianCoz 7m Nice pass from Geno to Hill and he caught it! About 50 yards. Chris Nimbley @Cnimbley 7m Coples was lined up on the edge & dropped back to cover Winslow across the middle, Geno delivered a 40-50 yard strike which Hill held on to Brian Costello @BrianCoz 4m Jets doing a lot of running in practice today. That is one way to combat all the drops. Brian Costello @BrianCoz 53s Sanchez did not attempt a pass during first 11 on 11 period. New game plan.
Conor Orr @ConorTOrr 14m Ball wasnt thrown to Cumberland on that last pass but seeing him line up on the outside, one on one with a DB -- still has good speed. Conor Orr @ConorTOrr 29m Stephen Hill with a catch in traffic from Geno Smith that went about 20 yards. A welcome sight for Rex. #nyj
Kristian Dyer @KristianRDyer 1m Aaron Berry continues impressive minicamp, steps in front of Vidal Hazelton to intercept Geno Smith.
Oh boy, but damn Geno is getting the ball to his receivers and they are making plays. Good stuff - I'm guessing he's going against the 1s?
