Dunno, dude. Little Billy Franklin famously threw that banana peel in the field of play, but Sanchez knew better than to slip on it at age 10. Jimmy was just pretending that the ball was overthrown. The hormones were planted by the opposition. The play stands, and it is the reason why Sanchez should start this year.
No they didn't. holmes played 3 1/2 games Keller played in 8 games and wasn't healthy for any of them and soon after coming back was out again and missed last qtr of season. We got Edwards w/ a few games left midweek in a brand new system and this was not Braylon Edwards 2010, this was the Braylon who was released in 2011 and 2012. Santana Moss or Pierre garcon would have been #1 options on our teams last year. RGIII was much better but he was also a guy who ran the ball and had an elite RB to hand off to. 2 things Mark didn't have and if you look back they beat 2 playoff bound teams all year- Minnesota who wasn't very good and Baltimore when bal was struggling. Please stop, they had excellent WRs and they brought in more talent for Peyton. Are you really comparing what Mark had last year to what Peyton had last year? Tom Brady was already separating himself w/ the Pats. The CS was very high on him entering 2001, they didn't think he'd have to play but they were confident in him when he took over and the franchise took off when he took over. I don't seem to recall that happening w/ McElroy and obviously he isn't impressing in practice or Matt Simms wouldn't be ahead of him right now. That is the sad thing. We have fans that don't really want to win if they don't have their guys.
It is, the point was pointless. First off peyton manning is one of the greatest reg season QBs of all time so to compare Mark to him isn't far. Second, he had MUCH more talent. His 4th ot 5th option was better than our first for most of the year PLUS he played in an incredibly weak division.
The point wasn't to compare Manning to Sanchez. The point was that great (or even good) QBs elevate the play of those around them. Manning came to a team with unproven WRs...talk about potential or talent until the cows come home, but those guys didn't really do anything before last year. Sanchez hasn't elevated anyone's play. And for a guy that likes to spin this "Sanchez plays big in big spots" thing, I wonder why you were so dead set against giving Tebow a shot. He did that a lot in 2011. It's entirely possible for a guy to do that and not be a good QB, huh?
when brady came in they coddled him pretty well. he was not asked to be a big playmaker. he was treated much like mark was his first year. you can say the same thing about roethlischeeseburger it wasnt until really year 3 that either one of them really started to show the brilliance they are known for.
Peyton took over a team that made the div rd in 2011, in 2012 he made the div rd. Mark Sanchez 2010 div rd at NE: led O to 28 pts, threw 3 TDs, 0 INTs in 28-21 win Tim tebow 2011 div rd at NE: led O to 10 pts, 0 TDs, 0 INTs, never in game in 45-10 loss. Same field, same round, we probably played a better version of the Pats yet we won and mark played a million times better than tebow. Tom Brady is the best QB of his generation and probably the only guy that hasn't needed big talent to win big. Mark Sanchez will never be Tom Brady, very few in the history of this league have ben as good as him. Ben walked into a WR corps w/ Plax and Ward plus a very good run game, they lost Plax after year 1 but have continued to add playmakers year after year after year for Ben. have we done that w/ Mark?
:rofl2: Oh, so....you think Tebow is an NFL level Passer? Odd, 32 GMs seem to disagree. Including John Elway, who let him go AFTER getting to the playoffs?
This is maybe the most self-aware idea you've ever posted given that the Jets are 6-12 in Sanchez last 18 starts and yet you can't hack the idea that it might be time to replace him.
A) I am smart enough to realize that record is much more than just the QB play. B) If it was and Geno Smith stepped in and we took off I'd be rooting like heck for Geno. All I care about is winning, I want players to help us win, I KNOW we can win big w/ Mark Sanchez if surrounded w/ the right mix of talent and I don't want to give up on him b/c he had incredibly poor talent around him a year ago.
They have "playmakers" in Pittsburgh because they have a QB who does a great job putting these guys in position to make plays, by delivering timely passes and making dynamic plays himself. We took perhaps his biggest "playmaker" and look where that's gotten us. It never seems to amaze me how you will downplay the accomplishments of other QBs and laud their playmakers when in reality, these other QBs are THE primary reason the plays are being made... (i'm talking Big Ben, Peyton, Eli, Flacco, etc.)
You know what never ceases to amaze me...the complete lack of Irony, with your utter hatred of Sanchez, given your monniker. And FWIW.. Rapelisberger has time to "make" plays because he gets about 6 seconds in the pocket,
Look where it got us? it got us closer to a SB than at any point since SB III. Ben is a top QB in this league, I am not taking anything away from him but Stevie Wonder could see the talent they have given him to work w/ just like Eli and what Flacco had this past year was insane. Do you guys watch football? do you really think what we had last year matched what those other QBs have had? do you think '09/'10 matched what those other QBs had and last I checked Ben has missed 2 of the last 4 postseasons and Eli 3 of the last. Maybe playing QB and winning is harder than you think?
Junc, you would think that would be fairly obvious. 5 pick, 50 million dollar plus investment...lets not see what can be gotten out of it. Madden must be fun.
You must not watch any Steelers games.. Big Ben is one of, if not the most pressured QB in the league. He does a great job avoiding that pressure by moving around the pocket well and having the size to be difficult to bring down.. but he has had one of the worst pass blocking lines in the NFL overall for about 5-6 years now.
Roethlisberger is one of two QB's in the entire NFL that is basically line independent, able to function in a broken pocket fairly often. Aaron Rodgers is the other. If you want to know who the truly great QB's are look for the guys who get sacked heavily year after year but their personal performance remains high and their teams keep winning.
I don't think you watch the Steelers very often. Big Ben creates a lot of time for himself by scrambling and extending the play. Something Sanchez used to be fairly good at. He used to be much better at making plays/extending plays with his legs in the past than now. Now he has trouble feeling the pressure let alone scrambling away from it
