That's what worrisome. However, I think Idzik will follow SF's model in that case and use him as trade bait.
Yeah, way to completely blow off some valid points I made. I give the Sancho homos credit too for completely ignoring them. Tebow rarely threw the football anyway? We are talking about production by the offensive receiving weapons, in part. The 2011 Broncos threw the ball MORE TIMES than the 2009 Jets under Sanchise. True fact. Peyton Manning came to town and about doubled or tripled his top receivers production. That means nothing? And what about the magical "big spot" quality of Sanchez that certain people like to completely downplay about Tebow? No, the homers like to point out Tebow's completion percentage and shit like that...they display a complete double-standard when comparing the same things between the two QBs. They act like Tebow is pure garbage while ignoring that he's done a lot of the same things as Sanchez as far as results go...except Tebow hasn't entirely shit the bed yet.
~ Pearls from 'The Self-Annointed One' ~ Cowchips. Name me one former NFL GM presently working in a mailroom. There you are, posting a gazillion times on this thread during working hours (read: mailroom). lol, nice try. I already refuted points in your posts and in return what did I get? You cherrypicking, misquoting, and conveniently ignoring many of the points I made, so I'm sorry to say oh self-annointed one, your claim of "game over" rings hollow. Nice try though.
nyjunc works in the PR department for the Jets or has some sort of position where they write his paycheck. That's why he never thinks anyone is at fault(Tanny,Woody,Schotty,Rex,Sanchez---nobody is responsible) and has enough time to blow gusts of sunshine on this forum between the hours of 8-5 M-F.
no tomorrow will be day 0 we start counting backward the next day. no backtracking, just more fun. maybe you could explain to me what june 1st means again. there is no back track in this situation.
They didn't need to take a look at McElroy. They already know he doesn't have an NFL arm and his instincts are too slow for the speed of the NFL game. Combine those two factors and there's no way he sticks in the NFL for long. He's a very intelligent player and he understands the game including the intricacies of NFL defensive schemes. The problem is that he's just not quick enough to take advantage of the passes he knows should be there and his arm isn't strong enough to make up for the "who, what, where?" that happens on bang bang plays all the time in the NFL. All of this was known coming out of college with the scouts divided between "he can make most of the throws" and "he doesn't have an NFL arm". They all agreed he wasn't a natural passer though and that reaction time was going to be an issue. Reading he can do, getting the ball to where it needs to be when it needs to be there he can't.
Criteria for the NY Jets to start Mark Sanchez: 2013 season- Outplayed Geno Smith/ Geno Smith is deemed not ready to start. (chances of happening: 50%) 2014 season- started in 2013, played lights out all year long putting up pro bowl numbers, thus worth the 13 million he's making next year instead of cutting him for 8 million (chances of happening- 10%) 2015 season- The dude has been fixed and is an elite starting QB completely worth the money he's owed, which this year would be 15 mil ( chances of happening: 5%) he doesn't start this year he's done, we'll cut him next year, probably keep him as a backup for now. I honestly believe the starting spot is up in the air right now, but this is put up or shut up time for mark, gotta be excellent to keep his job. Next year he's more attractive to cut, if he isn't a cut above Smith.
Sanchez is gonna have to have a really good season to have a chance to stick around past 2013. I firmly believe Geno is gonna win the job. Sanchez has ALWAYS looked good in OTA's and training camp in the past. So even if Sanchez is lighting it up in May let's see how he and the offense looks come August in pre season, where in the past 2 seasons have been a preview of what the offense would look like once the season started.
Br4dw4y5ux, while McElroy's chicken wing arm makes the following somewhat of a moot point, I am curious however about his reactions being too slow, particulary in light of his inherent smarts and his understanding the intricacies of NFL defensive schemes. Could his 'slow instincts' possibly be a case of what originaly plagued Chad Pennington in the eyes of Herm Edwards, that is, his cerebral approach causing him to be too analytical and not "just setting up and winging it?" Thoghts? thx Agreed, put up or shut up year for Mark. That said, just my opinion (and this is more of a hunch) but I think Nacho starts because I'm not sure (or sold) on Smith being the long term answer (read: 2014 draft). I only saw him live once (in the snow vs. Syracuse). Was his solid TD/Int ratio more about Geno, the scheme, or his Austin/Steadman weapons? Fwiw, I also saw Barkley/USC against Syracuse early in the year at Metlife and he looked like a more polished QB than the bigger-armed Smith but again, it was only one game. Everything's up in the air; Sanchez on a hunch.
I'm dumb? And you cant grasp the straw that two guys, coming off the same team, playing the same role learned to read defenses the same way. :rofl2: Back under the bridge troll.
Then I have to ask the obvious... What the fuck is he doing on the team? Wouldn't it make more sense to have a Brad Smith type player that can be used in other ways?
I have no idea what it is. NFL QB is a very demanding position. You have to be able to do almost everything at a high level or you wash out. You can cover some weaknesses with a strong and accurate arm. You can't really cover for a subpar arm though. The other things just kill you when that's what you're bringing to the field. That's where McElroy is.
I understand your concerns but he hasn't had an adequate chance to prove he can adjust and play despite his weaknesses.
What's taking Sanchez so long? Isn't that what the experts said about Joe Montana? He did ok. From the little (emphasis on little) that I've seen McElroy play, he looked ok to me. I wish they would have played him the final few games last season. Good or bad, it would have answered some questions. And if he is as nonathletic as you say, then he's got no place on the team
Even if he does play great this season they will restructure his contract after this year if they plan on keeping him. No way he makes 13M in 2014 in a Jets uni.
