June 10th or 11th I think is projected for Wheeler. I don't think I'll get to see him pitch before he gets the call up.

Gee is dealing today. Now let's get him some runs.

Aaargh! It's one thing when Keith constantly gets it wrong, but when Ron Darling pulls out the "leadoff walks always seem to score" card he's just embarrassing all of his fellow Yale graduates around the world!

Pulling Gee here is why Collins is a pathetic in game manager.

What the hell is Collins doing? Gee has retired 15 straight hitters, including the last 5 on strikeouts, and has thrown 88 pitches, and he pulls him with 1 out and no one on in the 8th with a 3-1 lead? If the bullpen blows this (particularly in this inning), this is all on him.

Why pull gee? He's retiring batter after batter. Why pull him out?

But this is beyond that. A pathetic in game manager would blindly follow "conventional wisdom". This is just bizarre.

Rice isn't gonna be able to lift his arm by the time Terry is done with him.

Mets pitchers retire the last 20 Yankee hitters and the Mets sweep the 4 games!

Actually everyone is still questioning it - Bobby Ojeda just made a point of saying how he still couldn't disagree more with it. It was utterly moronic, and the fact that it worked out tonight does absolutely nothing to change that.

88 freaking pitches... the only explanation I can think of is maybe Gee had some soreness and it was precautionary. Other than that it's completely stupid. It may have worked but doesn't change the fact that it was stupid.

Not excited over this sweep, im excited because we have won 5 straight. Could care less if it was over the Yankees or the Royals.

This reminds me when the Jets called beating the Patriots is there Super Bowl. Our goal should be World Series, not to be a thorn in the Yankees side.

and if the World Series isn't a realistic expectation this year, than the fans shouldn't be excited about minor successes like sweeping the Yankees? that is outright stupid.

The goal is the World Series but this is not a playoff caliber team. You can downplay it all you like but this sweep is huge for the Mets and their fans. This team might not win 75 games so things like this are good in a long season that will likely end in horrible fashion. If only for one week the Mets are the best team in New York.

He pulls Gee at 88 pitches and lets Harvey start innings at 110 pitches lmao

Well that's obvious. Harvey is light years better than Gee, I think any manager would do that. You can't compare Harvey to Gee.

The issue is that Gee was actually pitching well, like unbelievably well. He had just KO'ed the previous five batters.

It's couldn't care less, and this is huge, considering this team will almost certainly not reach the playoffs.

First season sweep for the Mets since the Subway Series began (the Yankees did it in 2003, going 6-0).

The Yankees are now in second, barely ahead of Baltimore and Tampa Bay.
