You will never find a better collection of receivers than those 5 guys? Not a single PB caliber player in the bunch, Holmes missed 4 games, Cotch missed multiple games and played hurt multiple games, LT slowed down badly the 2nd half of the year due to age. Edwards was very good and Keller was good. Brandon Pettigrew is better than Dustin keller by a wide margin Holmes/Edwards 2010: 105 recs-1591 yds, 13 TDs Calvin John average the last 3 years: 98 recs, 1588 yds, 11 TDs Nate Burleson who was Stafford's 3rd option was basically as good as Holmes Tomlinson was in the top 5...in 2006. It had been a long time since he was a top back. w/ all that talent that was rarely all healthy and playing together he led 4-5 late game comebacks, helped us win 11 games and helped us get w/in a few pts of the Super Bowl. There have been many ludicrous statements on this board through the years but this just might be the most ludicrous by far. Wow! you can't make this stuff up. do people actually watch football? I really wonder sometimes. he has gotten worse as the talent has eroded but in 2011 3 of his main weapons would be out of football in 2012 and one of them was fresh off a 2 year prison sentence. In 2012 only kerley would have been playing major snaps if our guys were healthy. Our healthy weapons were a joke, NO QB would have succeeded w/ those healthy weapons.
Ok this is the second time you've mentioned Brandon Pettigrew and Nate Fucking Burleson, as if they are good. Why do you throw out this stupid shit for your boy Sanchez.. Ask ANY, I mean ANY Detroit fan what they think of Brandon Pettigrew. They would laugh their asses off at you. The guy can't catch a cold!! Nate Burleson??!?! You just compared a career 3rd/4th receiver to a Superbowl MVP in Santonio Holmes. Nate Burleson = Jeremy Kerley, with less upside
Excellent synopsis. If Sanchez couldn't complete over 60% with that crew, he'll never do it ever in his career. Sanchez held that team back. An average starting QB puts up pro bowl numbers with that crew in 2010, gets the jets the 2 extra wins needed for a bye week/home playoff games and likely a spot in the SB.
Pettigrew can't catch a cold yet has averaged 71 recs a year which includes missing multiple games last year. In 2004 w/ Minny Burleson did something Holmes and Edwards have done once each in their careers- go over 1,000 rec yds. and guys like that are that much better when you have a calvin Johnson commanding all the attention. Who on the Jets commanded any attention? we had quality talent, good WRs, good TE but to act like we had amazing talent is just asinine. :rofl2::rofl2: he held them back by leading them to 11 wins and overcoming late defensive lapses and an up and down run game. damn that sanchez guy! what you guys want are pro bowl #s, what I want is to win. You'd rather have Stafford 2011 than Sanchez 2010. It's the fantasy football culture.
So, when Sanchez is under center opening day, does that mean Geno is a bigger scrub? I just want you to make that clear, before it happens.
It just means that Geno hasn't acclimated yet, which would be a shame. Hell, if they sign another vet QB, we might not even worry about Saint Chez.
You are right about Pettigrew's catches, just imagine how many more he'd have if he could catch the football... probably over 100. Keller puts up better numbers in Detroit with a reliable QB like Stafford. It's obvious by these horrendous statements that you don't watch the Detroit Lions ever.. So I suggest instead of making yourself look stupid, use other examples to make excuses for Mark Sanchez.
I want good QBs... the Jets Football team won 11 games in 2010, in spite of poor and inconsistent QB play.. a better, more consistent QB gets them the division in 2010, and possibly a SB title... which was my point. I don't give a fuck about fantasy football, that's just a red herring you and really only YOU seem to always bring up when defending the California golden boy.
Keller had a future HOFer throwing passes to him in 2008 and he had 48 recs, w/ sanchez he had 55 & 65 catch seasons. In 2010 w/ Shaun Hill & Drew Stanton most of the year Pettigrew caught 71 balls There are people making themselves look stupid in this thread, go look in a mirror to see one of them.
Like your Avvy? A decent OC, gets them a division title, and a VLT. The jets had Good QBs in Penny, and Favre...how did that work out? 3 qb's of differing and varying skill sets, one shitty offense...hmmmm...whats the common thread....right..Sanchez sucks.:rofl2:
Really? so you think we win 15 games w/ a better QB? man we were really good outside the QB! The best QB in the game lost at home in the div rd that year, was outplayed by the California golden boy despite having a more talented team.
It is interesting that you bring Simms up. I saw an interview w/ Parcells talking about how Simms lost his job in year 5 then reclaimed it in year 6 which is when he started to take off.
They WERE really good outside of the QB. Thank you for reiterating my point. And the Patriots team that year had a lot less talent overall than the Jets. Defense = huge advantage, Jets Offense, outside of QB = advantage Jets QB = huge huge huge advantage, Patriots. The California golden boy outplayed Brady in that game because he wasn't facing the Jets defense.. He faced a bottom barrell defense. All things considered though Sanchez would never outplay Brady in any other scenario ever. That's obvious to most people on planet earth
blue (easier to read than green; not nyg-centric) Er, we lost? Memo to Mark: points scored count, no matter when they're put up on the board.
Steve Young is another one. Good college career, couple years in the USFL, blew dogs for a few years in Tampon Bay, sat for a few more after TB let him go to SF. Talks like hes been a HoF QB since day one. At least when Simms calls games, hes not an asshole. I know you dont like this point, but maybe someone else could remind me...who coached Drew Brees to such poor play, that the Charges spent a number one pick on Rivers?
Our D was better, it wasn't a huge edge. RBs- edge NE WRs- edge Jets TE- HUGE edge NE Ben and peyton didn't have too many problems in the title games against our "great" defense.
