we didn't have some amazing collection of talent, we had quality talent but you don't win consistently(and we won consistently for 2+ years) in this league w/o quality QB play. maybe you make it through a year but the next year it will catch up. There have been truly great teams that couldn't win more b/c of poor QB play but we are supposed to believe our good but not great D was carrying a bad QB to the brink of the SB 2 straight years?

Jet fans and football fans in general tend to overrated our Ds and underrated the role our QB had.

The same 09 Lions that came off a 0-16 season the year before?

There was a point where you were a decent poster, those days are long gone. You fell in w/ the wrong crowd and followed the wrong posters.

Stafford has one down year, that's still much better the one Sanchez had and you think this is supposed to prove something?

    Compare their careers..

Stafford has had incredibly less talent on his rosters in the 4 years in Detroit and while he hasn't always been great he's been a good QB. Top 10-15 type NFL Starting QB. .. (something Sanchez would dream to be)

The funny thing is that if I put this stamp of approval in my sig, I would actually gain respect on this forum.

respect from those that don't know the game, congrats!

Sanchez has had one down year and he's never had a Calvin Johnson where he can just throw it up for grabs.

Incredibly less talent? calvin Johnson ALONE gives him more talent plus he's had nate Burleson, Brandon Pettigrew.

I have not watched Stafford play, so I can't really give a fair assessment. Going on stats alone, you don't think throwing for 2,000 more yards is much better? You don't think having 345 more passing attempts and still having a 5.5% higher completion percentage is much better? You don't think having 11 more total TDs with 5 fewer total turnovers is much better?

I'm not sure how much blame you can put on Stafford for the losses when the D allowed 30 or more points in losses 6 times.

he threw a lot of picks and threw the ball up for grabs a lot. The difference is Calvin Johnson caught a bunch of those passes.

He puts similar to Sanchez numbers with the Jets talent. Or more than likley gets hurt.

Don't get me wrong I like Stafford I just do not think he is that much better than Sanchez if better at all. Without the Butt fumble collapse Sanchez would have had a better year but we all know where if ands and buts get you.

The point is Sanchez is the worst QB ever and Stafford is all everything does not make much sense when they play very similarly.

Thank U for your understanding & support

Some day the realization will set in to all those that do not subscribe to the mantra that is if you do not win the SB then the NYJs were one of the 31 losing teams that particular season. In FACT in the NYJs case it is now been 44 years since they last appeared & won a SB

No, stafford has had one good year.

He's 17-28. Plays in a Dome at least 10x a year, and has the leagues most talented receiver.

Sanchez, has one losing season....the same number of winning seasons, Stafford has.

Stafford is 0-1 in the playoffs, and missed 19 games due to injury in his first two seasons.

Stafford has been a better fantasy stats guy. When hes been on the field.
    Please stop.

    good for him.

no, really, good for Mark, as much as I've grown tired of his mistakes its nice to see he's at least feeling good about this system.

he's probably gone next year if geno is anywhere close, but I still hope he improves while he's here.

heres hoping this sticks for once.

The reason people aren't calling for Stafford's head at this point is that he's had seasons where he looked like an NFL QB, at least one of them quite a good season.

Sanchez just doesn't have that in his record.

If the Lions have a weak season this year and Stafford looks like he did last year again you're going to hear the calls for his exit begin to mount in Detroit. Teams do not reach or maintain elite status without having the QB lead the way unless everybody else is topnotch. It's easier to find that QB than it is to build the great team.

Sanchez does have that and he's done it w/o the best WR in the league. I like Stafford, he was terrible last year but he was very good the year before and can be a top QB. His ceiling is higher than mark's(especially w/ Calvin) but this game is about winning and mark has him beat there.

In 2010 Mark Sanchez had Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards, Jerrico Cotchery, Dustin Keller and LaDainian Tomlinson as his receivers. You will NEVER find a better collection of receivers for an NFL QB than those 5 guys.

None of them were the best at what they did although Tomlinson was in the top 5. All of them were highly competent playmakers who could take any given play and turn it into a big gainer.

The line in front of Sanchez included four good to great linemen and one guy at replacement level.

What did Sanchez do with that remarkable collection of talent?

54.8 completion percentage. With 5 guys who were good at catching the ball in the rotation. That's 7 points below the NFL average in that season with 5 guys who could run routes and catch the ball.

6.49 yards per attempt. With 5 guys who were capable of breaking a big play and very good at yards after the catch. That's .2 yards per attempt below the NFL average that year. With 5 guys who could make extra yards on any given reception.

3.4% TD percentage. With 5 quality receivers Sanchez was still ranked 19 in overall TD's thrown. The guy he was tied with, Ben Roethlisberger, had 118 fewer passes thrown. The guy he was just ahead of, Jon Kitna, had 189 fewer passes thrown.

With all that talent Sanchez looked below average in every category but Interceptions thrown, where he was slightly above average.

Is it any surprise that when the talent around him degraded he began to look just terrible?
