It's funny that I'm getting a lot of raised eye brows for suggesting the best candidate is someone that was stuck with a team that refused to spend money for 13 of his 15 years with Buffalo, and then designated Darcy Regier as the man making the decisions on how to spend Pegula's money once he bought the team for the remaining two seasons. But throwing out Gravy, who has worked in community relations ever since he retired, is someone that people will get behind? Come on guys. Graves is probably my favorite all time player and I got to know him well during my time spent working with the team but he's not coaching anywhere. Messier at least has the makeup of being around the team for the past few years, but I don't think he's being groomed to be a coach as much as a team executive. I thought Ruff was the frontrunner for this job once the Rangers went down 0-3 in the Boston series. A good friend of mine that is somewhat unfortunately a faithful Sabre fan seems to think that he'd do wonders with a lot of the two-way forwards on the team.
Finally home so I can post my opinion on Torts being fired (As if anyone cares): Things I like about Torts: He's not afraid to speak his mind, he doesn't kiss the media's ass. Things I don't like about Torts: He refuses to use players based on their talents and likes to try to put square pegs through round holes, his coaching strategy is way too one-sided, he punishes certain players for minor mess-ups but lets other players get away with God awful play game after game (Richards).
he had Miller in net which wasn't too shabby and some decent teams/personnel over the years. I can't imagine them going in this direction....but then again i was sure they wouldn't fire Torts, so obviously i know shit.
He really fucked with Kreider this year. Someone would dive and draw a penalty on Kreider, then Torts would pull him for the rest of the game and send him down to the minors for it.
