Yes, amusing......but the situations are nowhere in the same ball park. A lundqvist jersey is a safe fan investment. Btw those Canuck jerseys were brutal

Mess was more of a hired gun to me. Hank has played his whole career here, slightly different.

My guess would be that if Tortorella is still at the Rangers at the end of next season then Lundqvist will consider other offers. I don't think Tortorella's winning another Stanley Cup, the first one was largely as a result of lucking into a ridiculously talented roster at Tampa and he just doesn't have the smarts to do it again. If Hank's going to get a ring, he's going to need a different coach and I'm sure he knows it.

I believe Tortorella is out of contract at the end of next season as well. If the choice is between him and Lundqvist it should be a pretty easy one.

Bottom line is this: The same people who are saying "No Way Hank Leaves" also said "No Way Mess Leaves"

I'm not sure if Larry Brooks is laughing gleefully at the demise of his nemesis, or weeping bitterly at the fact that he now has to go back to being just another embittered hack.

Anyway, it was the only sensible decision the Rangers could make. A poor coach with an increasingly loose grip on reality, and who managed to make the team less than the sum of its parts for large parts of this season. The comments about Hagelin should have been the final straw.

I am going to miss the press conferences. The one where he told the media to kiss his ass was great.

Got to think that Vigneault is going to be an early contender, but personally I'd look at some younger up and coming coaches. Kevin Dineen is doing a good job in Florida regardless of this season's results.
