I go with what I saw and what Sanchez said- “It’s embarrassing,” said Sanchez. “You screw up the play (and) I’m trying to do the right thing. It’s not like I’m trying to force something. I start to slide and I slide in the worst spot I possibly could: right into Brandon Moore.” “Hopefully we’ll laugh about it later,” Sanchez said. The quarterback said he wasn’t hurt on the play. “I guess more stunned than anything,” said Sanchez. “Like a car accident. I was like woah – what just happened. And then the ball’s gone. It was weird, it sucked.” btw...Collinsworth was wrong.
Collinsworth was 100% wrong. I've seen that play a million times by now. Moore was NOT pushed into Sanchez. That is not what caused that monstrosity. Anyone with two eyes can see that. Wilfork pushed Moore back about three inches, and then after Sanchez hit bottom, Wilfork continued to push Moore, who fell down because he tripped over Sanchez, who was on the turf at that point. Sanchez kinda helped put Moore on the ground too, running into him low and from behind like he did. Gotta be the biggest Sanchez homer in the world to not concede that point. Seriously, Sanchez comically ran straight into Moore's ass. Football follies at their best (or worst). You don't have to know shit about shit to see what happened.
cris collinsworth is one of the more annoying people i have ever heard. him and bill walton should off eachother. that said, is hobbes really saying that the buttfumble was not mark sanchez fault? i mean really has it gotten to that point? we are at your an asshat level if thats the case.
Yeah...that's what he's saying. Weird huh? Usually he makes so much sense. Want a really good laugh? Ask him who's fault the last turnover in the Titans game was...
Ive aoways said, the fumbling, all of it, that one included is on him. Hes horrible at holding on to the Football. He doesnt keep two hands on it when waiting to throw, nor does he tuck it away when he runs.
So, 5 years in why should the Jets think that Sanchez is suddenly going to slap his forehead and say "I've been such a moron, got to keep two hands on the ball, got to tuck it away when I run." Seriously, there are so many things that Mark Sanchez does out of habit that are suboptimal at this point that it's hard to see why the Jets are even giving him the opportunity to suddenly get a clue, even in OTA's. I wish he was a smarter player but really he isn't. He's been killing himself and the Jets for most of his career with clumsy poorly thought out play that leads to inevitable catastrophes. Every time you think it couldn't possibly get worse it does. That pick into coverage at the end of the Titan's game was like the fifth straw that broke the camel's back. Damn camel has been limping around with a broken back for 18 months now and somehow it keeps getting back up and then OOMPH Sanchez drops it again. Enough is enough. If Sanchez was a young guy getting his feet on the ground you live with the errors and take the occasional benefits that come with playing all balls and no brains. He's not a young guy. He's middle-aged by NFL standards and he's still playing all balls and no brain. Time to move on.
It takes a coach with attention to detail, just like it did for Tiki Narber. He had beeen a running back his whole life, and didnt cure his fumblitis till well into his NFL career. Odd you use that phrase. The haters go apeshit when you say the problem is his balls are bigger than his brains. Cue the. Morons calling this a defense, its not....its mildly observant given the season he had in 2011. Couple more scores, couple less turnover we arent having this conversation. 2 things will dramatically shift his ratio ofmscores to turnovers this year, getting the ball out quicker, will lead to lesss fumbles and less picks on late long balls, and the change in the routes theyre asking him to throw.
I don't know how you can be so confident that Sanchez will achieve this...he can barely throw a screen pass without it being intercepted.
We could do with more than a "couple". If Sancho clicks in the new system, we should be in decent shape. Just keep moving the chains and things will be much better. We had far too many 3 & outs last year....just ridiculous.
Sorry about the links. I don't know what happened. Rex and Mark's quotes can be found here: http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/art...layed-Us/270e4501-73b0-4604-92c9-0c52a1ac5110 I remember when Collinsworth said that during the game, and I asked my friends what is he talking about? We watched the replay over and over again and he is just flat out wrong. As a Jets fan, it would be a little less embarrassing if Wilfork threw Moore into Sanchez but it never happened. How many other guys do you know that will blame other players for the buttfumble? To be fair, Hobbes has always said the ball security is on Sanchez for the actual fumble but he blames Greene for running the wrong way and not taking the handoff and he blames Moore for getting thrown into Sanchez. See below: Asked about when Sanchez said: I was thinking a different play in my head. Just a mental error there.
Sometimes Collinsworth gets caught up in the hype and a little bit of man-love for the Patriots. He was dead wrong on that play.
Last year the Jets ranked 27th in 3 and out percentage at 26.29% of drives. In 2011 the Jets ranked 29th in 3 and out percentage at 28.57% of drives in 2010 The Jets ranked 18th in 3 and out percentage at 22.61% of drives in 2009 they ranked 22nd at 25.25% of drives being 3 and out. Their two best years were also years the Jets running game was at it's best. Compare that to Favres year with the Jets in 2008 and the 3 and out percentage was #10 in the league at 19.21% In 2007 #9 in the league at 19.30% in 2006 #15 in the league at 22.73% (note this is the year Kellen played 1/2 the season and put up numbers similar to Sanchez's 2009 numbers) in 2005. in short you can quickly see what a different QB play makes on a team when comparing the 2008 and 2009 seasons in this regard. reality is the Jets have been a horrible team in regards to 3 and out plays since Sanchez became the QB. http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/three-and-out-percentage/2006/
Ever notice that with Hobbes and Junc it's alway's the other players fault and goldenboy never get's it wrong?
Daniel Jeremiah @MoveTheSticks Studied Sanchez tape. Lot of issues but poor anticipation is the major prob. He's consistently late. No trust, locking on, bouncing too much
And I just finished re-watching the San Diego game. Now I really want McElroy to start, and have Geno come in later in the season (which also would provide some sample size of what we got in those two players going into '14). He made a few errors, for sure - but to say all those sacks we're on him is just not true. He definitely held onto the ball for too long a couple of times, but the OL in the second half was nothing but appalling. What he did do, was to protect the football. And he did quite well overall, simply looking at the level of QB play. And that's with one week of preparation with the first team. And with the same shitty circumstances Sanchez had (lack of weapons etc). I really see no reason why #6 should start over #14, especially in a WCO.
I think a timing based system would do him wonders, but then theres that problem with his arm strength... If this really is a fair competition and he's doing better than Sanchez despite that, then let it be so. As is, the only scenario I see where G-mac gets the start is if Sanchez blew chunks and Smith isn't deemed ready or is hurt. he'll make the roster regardless of what happens. starting is a long LONG shot for him though, this is between #6 and #7.
