QB David Garrard told 2 players he no longer plans to be with the #Jets, per sources. Nothing official from team. Unclear if cut/retired

Just now, David Garrard told @JeffDarlington: "I'm not talking about that right now. Maybe tomorrow or the next day"

wtf? lol I was rooting for the guy

UPDATE: Confirmation that Garrard is retiring...

    Adam Schein ‏@AdamSchein 6m
Text from Garrard: "Having to call it quits. My knee is not holding up. Continuing to swell after practices. Limiting what I can do."

Great, now it's between the sociopath Sanchez and Geno. Hoping Geno beats him out.

At least the media can't paint us an 'OMG 5QB CIRCUS!!!!!!' anymore.

I guess that means Mark will be around and have a chance to win his job back. That's good news.

I'm shocked by this. I thought if healthy he was the lock to be the starter. IDK what to make of this now.

Maybe in another universe. Losing depth is NOT good news.

Garrard would of been a nice vet for Geno Smith to lean on.

Lmao at those who thought Sanchez would be cut June 1st. Gonna be some butthurt users if that is the case

Garrard probably broke something getting out of bed. Or maybe this is another Drew Stanton situation where he wants out after being promised one thing and having that suddenly change (in Stanton's case after Tebow was unexpectedly signed, in Garrard's case after Geno was unexpectedly drafted).

I thought the same thing when Geno was drafted. I wondered how Garrard would feel. Maybe you are right

It wouldn't make sense that they would cut him at this point, no matter how impressed they've been with Geno. Unless he has some form of injury that would prevent him from playing.

David Garrard is still on the Jets roster at the moment.

Some kind of an update on the situation

FWIW, the team hasn't released him. I'm thinking it was his idea/decision.

Rather odd. Hopefully they start Geno.

Maybe Mark has looked good in the new offense so far and that has put Garrard on move

Fuck. We've lost the competent one.

    JaMarcus is still available.

His knee hadn't fully recovered according to Adam Schien

Sanchez vs Geno just as it should be. People who thought Garrard would start are crazy

I don't buy this. At best, Garrard could only have been promised the starting job for 1 year. Geno is the Qb of the speaker, not necessarily right now.

I think Garrard just wants to retire.

Maybe it just dawned on him that until the HC is replaced the job is Mark's no matter what. SOJBS.
