That can't be true because he's one of the dudes in the jagermeister commercial. He's pals with the rodeo clown. He earned his seat at the tough guy table mmkay.
I get where you are coming from but the OP set ground rules that are the opposite of those that you are suggesting. If you read the quote below he said that any player who ever rocked the Green and White is fair game. Technically Powell never rocked the Green and White as he left the Titans before the name change but I think he should be included as well. Monk, Johnson, Pryce, and Lowery are all fair game. I chose other players over them because I believe that the other players are either better or would pose huge match-up problems for other teams.

Gosh that brings back some good memories. Shuler, Maynard, Toon and Walker are forever in the top list of receivers and TE. Does G. Buttle make the cut along those already mentioned?
Yes for one season before he retired. I know the OP said we can use anybody who ever played for the Jets but I'm gonna go with guys who would be remembered as Jets. Head Coach - Weeb DC - Bill Bellichick OC - Joe Walton ST - Mike Westhoff OFFENSE QB - Joe Namath (Offensive Captain) RB - Curtis Martin LT - Winston Hill OG - Randy Rasmussen C - Joe Fields OG -Dave Herman RT - Marvin Powell TE - Mickey Shuler WR - Al Toon WR - Don Maynard WR - George Sauer Jr Reserves: QB - Ken O'Brien RB - Freeman McNeil FB - Matt Snell WR - Wesley Walker WR - Wayne Chrebet TE - Jerome Barkum DEFENSE DE - Mark Gastineau DE - Gerry Philbin DT - Joe Klecko DT - John Elliott OLB - Larry Grantham (Defensive Captain) ILB - Kyle Clifton OLB - Mo Lewis CB - Darrelle Revis CB - Aaron Glenn SS - Victor Green FS - Erik McMillan Reserves: LB - Ralph Baker CB - Bill Baird CB - James Hasty LB - Lance Mehl SPECIAL TEAMS K - Pat Leahy P - Curley Johnson KR - Aaron Glenn PR - Bruce Harper One thing I noticed when making my list is we've had some pretty good DE's , some very very good centers, some good OT's and good WRs. We've also had some terrible safety's, and have never been very deep with OLBs and DT's (outside of Klecko).
I'm not old enough to have seen him play but my dad tells me that Grantham was the best player he ever saw play for the Jets. I think Klecko would probably be the best I ever saw although Walker, Toon and Martin where all very good players as well.
It's crazy looking at these to think Mangold is pretty much third. Damn we've had good centers over the years.

It's crazy..I've been pretty lucky in that in my lifetime we've always had some really guys play that position. We had Fields who I think was the best but never really got the recognition but made a few pro bowls. He handed the reigns to Jim Sweeny who wasn't amazing but was solid and pretty good. There were a few lean years but then we got Mawae who handed the torch to Mangold. I'd probably rank them the 4 best centers in team history with Fields being 1, Mangold 2, Mawae 3rd and Sweeny 4th. I was young so I don't really remember but I think Fields was moved to guard and Sweeny from RT to center in the mid 80's. Fields and Klecko also wrote a book about playing in the trenches. I've never read it but I remember my uncle had it.
i wholeheartedly disagree with this. keyshawn had a ton of heart, he was a fantastic blocker and constantly went and got balls across the middle. you can call keyshawn alot of things but please dont challenge his heart. i was pissed when he left not because of his receiving skills i was pissed because he was such a fantastic blocker.
I thought trying to do the opposite would be interesting ... Guys who had long, successful careers with other teams but played briefly played for the jets -- the We Hardly Knew You Team ... But I have some holes.
