    This is where i'm at.
The media is far too eager to attack the Jets and Smith. It think it's better he wait until at least back half of season for action.

In meantime, let the offensive line settle and gain some cohesion, and let the team stablize under a leader like Garrard, while mentoring and developing Smith.

Sanchez should just be released. The players do not believe in him. He's not a leader. And he has no interest in mentoring anyone. That's too much negative energy for a locker room.

This is the correct, but if I have to pull for someone it's mark. Geno would be well served to get some time on the bench learning. Garrard is a good vet to have around, but has nothing to offer for the future. Sanchez has all the physical tools to be a good QB. If he can pull his head out of his ass than that is just one more asset for the Jets to have at their disposal.

To be fair, only 28% of the fan base want to see Sanchez start.

i realize garrard and smith are probably sharing votes but the fact that 28% of jets fans WANT him to start is just absolutely amazing to me.

i wish it was a public vote so we could see how many are actually jets fans.

I really want Geno to start but in all honesty the kid needs a little more work. I'll go for Garrard or Sanchez.

Let's get it right this time preparing a young Qb for the NFL. Smith, shouldn't see the field for at least half the season. He probably shouldn't start at all this year.

I voted Garrard as we rebuild for Geno '14.

geno smith cannot get buried on the depth chart and never practice... this cannot happen. he needs to be getting reps during practice all year with the first team and the jets need to determine if this kid has it or doesnt.

while we dont have to invest 4 or 5 years in him like we would a top 5 draft pick i would sure hate to waste 3 years trying to figure out if he is hte guy who can lead the team or not.

i would be happy with garrard as the 1 and geno backing him up to start the year with the very real possibility he could start by the end of the year.

If Mark starts this year, it will mean he beat out Smith and Gerard, arguably the first real competition Sanchez has faced to become the starter. If Idzik's preaching about competition at every position isn't just hot air, then it will be the best thing for the Jets if Sanchez beats out Smith.

Hopefully it's a tough fight and both play great. In that scenario, the Jets will either have two good QBs on the roster, or be able to trade one and help fill more holes. That's why I voted to see Sanchez start opening day. I'm as tired of seeing the Sanchez free football give away clinic every week as everyone else, but I'd love for us to be able to salvage something out of the Buttfumble era.

Wow. Look how close the poll is. There are more Sanchez supporters on here than I expected! I'd rather see Sanchez get one more year and Geno be his backup. Sometimes it's not best to throw a rookie QB right into the fire. He can definitely learn on the sidelines for a year. Cats like Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady had no problem learning on the sidelines. I don't mind that at all. If Sanchez sucks this year, Geno will be his replacement. If not, and Sanchez breaks out with the new system, we'll be in good shape and could use Geno as trade bait next year.

This poll isn't close at all when you consider the 'anyone but Sanchez' mentality.

I don't see what Geno can learn from Sanchez. How not to play football? How to ruin a season? Geno can learn from more from Garrard than Sanchez about how to play the game properly. Even McElroy would be a better alternative.

Sanchez really needs to go. Besides, why would we use GENO as trade bait? What if Sanchez starts sucking it up the year after we trade Geno away? Ridiculous. I just don't think it's the best idea to depend on Sanchez anymore. He's a walking sideshow on the field with his lack of football awareness. .

We still have a chance for Sanchez to be cut. And I hope it happens I don't want him near Geno

I agree, the Jets have to give Geno some time to learn and develop as a backup. i.e Aaron Rodgers

It is mind blowing to think that 57 people chose Sanchez.
