I'm sure we'll see a few more UDFA's come in over the next few days/week. But there are still a few guys on my list that I personally find interesting for various reasons. Especially on the OL and WR. The WR's on the list all have their share of warts, or they wouldn't be UDFA material, But they're all big targets with a lot of tools. Michael Ford RB LSU matthew Tucker RB TCU Marcus Davis WR Virginia Tech Keenan Davis WR Iowa Rodney Smith WR Florida St Ray Polk S Colorado Travis Long LB Washington State Alvin Bailey OG/OT Arkansas Chris Baker OG Nevada Omoregie Uzzi OG Georgia Tech Mark Jackson OT Glenville St. I find it really hard to believe that Bailey hasn't signed yet, or for that matter wasn't drafted.
Just for grins, the rest of the list I posted earlier and where they reportedly have signed (all unofficial of course). Zack Line RB SMU----VIKINGS Brandon Kaufman WR Eastern Washington---Bills Mark Harrison WR Rugers----Bears Dan Buckner WR Arizona----cardinals Jake Stoneburner TE Ohio State----Packers Kevin reddick LB North Carolina-----Saints Da'Rick Rogers WR Tennessee Tech----Bills Onterio McCalebb RB Auburn----Bengals tony Jefferson S Oklahoma----cardinals Chase Thomas LB Stanford----Saints Kwame Geathers DT Georgia----Chargers Abry Jones DE Georgia----Jaguars Criag Roh Michigan----Panthers Xavier Nixon OT Florida----Redskins Philip Lutzenkirchen TE Auburn----Rams Ryan Otten TE San Jose St----Jaguars Joseph Fauria TE UCLA----Lions Demetrius Harris TE Wisconsin-Milwaukee----Chiefs
Also RE Bray, I'm glad the Jets didn't sign him as a UDFA, the QB camp is crowded enough right now with 6 QB's. He landed in just about the most ideal place for him to land, if he makes it through Camp there is no one Better than Reid to bring out the most in him.
I poured through several sites and didn't see his name appear anywhere. He'd be a rock solid signing, so would Uzzi.
Wow, that Rogers kid looks a big time steal. How did he go undrafted? Played behind Patterson and Hunter.
At his weight and speed he's almost purely a slot reciever. If I recall he weighs in at around 175, give or take. and timed just short of a 4.5 40 time. But he's got great hands and could litterally be a chrebet type of receiver
there's a posting on SB Nation posted at 1153pm saying that Alvin Bailey has signed with.......the Seahawks.....Guess Idzik should have stayed on West Coast time.
Wish more OLB/DE types were signed.... Having said that, Rontez Miles and Zach Rogers have real chances to make this roster and contribute. Miles is a prototype FS, who can really hit. If he's serious about football, he can really develop to something. Also an obvious ST contributor. Rogers is your classic slot receiver who is a terrific route runner with great hands. He has real speed as well, able to break free once he hits a gap. Patterson and Hunter got all the press for their skills and high draft positions, but Rogers was the guy who was counted on when 3rd down came up. Good value.
I like the Spadola and Edwards ( CB) signings , Spadola if he had kept healthy seems to have been someone who would have been a 5th or 6th rd pick , his speed and vertical make him a decent look at 5th receiver and Edwards has Special Teams / 5th CB written all over him..
An example of why I find Marcus Davis Intriging... 6'3 233 pounds so he's a load. 4.47 40..not a speed burner but. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=g2eFvci1A2s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGlTKJ5kmUs&feature=player_embedded
Heading to bed now, if the jets can sign one, or both, of these guys by the time I wake up I'll be a very happy man. Marcus Davis-WR Omoregie Uzzi-OG I did a last minute search on both and found nothing on either signing. I prefer Marcus Davis, but Uzzi would be great O-Line depth. As late as March he was ranked as high as a 3rd round pick. Davis's biggest flaw is he tends to lose focus but if you can get and keep him motivated he has elite potential. Well worth a gamble as a UDFA. I suspect the reason he hasn't signed yet is he's being courted by a couple different teams. If that's correct I really hope the Jets are one of them.
Granted Miles is probably the only guy in this video who will ever be on an NFL roster but this is a nice vid.
From a friend, Pitt alum who watches every snap, on WR Mike Shanahan: Won't be making anyone forget Dominic Pitta, but, hope some WRs catch on.
I'm really excited about seeing him play. Obviously he played D2, but still, the kid hits like a mack truck and is a perfect form tackler. I have a feeling he is going to make the roster (at least practice squad), especially since we need safety help and don't exactly have much money to work with.
