The Jets took what was *obviously* the best player on their list on pick 39 and he's at the position of greatest need. How could anybody suggest that anybody should be fired for that? Should the Jets have taken somebody lower on their list?
He completed 71.2 percent of his passes last year. Second in the FBS. He was sixth in passing efficiency. Accuracy is one of his biggest strengths.
agreed. Its obvious that the guys making the most negative noise are NOT professional talent evaluators or theyd be in the NFL! I think IDZIK has a plan and he is sticking to it. The Gi- aints do it that way and all they do is win!
"a black QB drafted by a Seattle guy, he's the next Wilson!" This is what Jet fans go by in determining if they like a pick. lmfao.
I just don't know what people want in QB prospects now. It seems like they'd like 90% accuracy with more than 45 TDs to 6 INTS.
Graham Harrell threw for 70% as well. And like Smith, couldn't do shit against great defenses, and can't play in the NFL. They played in the EXACT same system. Stop citing his percentage in an AIR Raid system.
I am not going to read through this thread, but I do think it is funny that it was already made. Haha. You can't win in NY, that is for sure.
"71% accuracy" when you play in Dana Holgorsens's Mike-Leach-spread-offense with a ton of screen passes and 3 yard hitches and slants is not indicative of "great accuracy." By those metrics, Case Keenum, Zac Robinson, Brandon Weeden, and Graham Harrell should all be good QB's in the NFL. Watch him throw the ball downfield, to the outside hashes, and over the intermediate part of the field. Smith is far too inaccurate and inconsistent with his throws. Yeah, the Jets are playing a west coast offense with a short passing game under Marty, but I still don't trust him at the NFL level.
It's not directly comparable. There's a reason why Geno was considered a possible top 10 pick and Keenum, Robinson, and Harrell weren't considered anything more than UDFAs.
Showers, it might be time to back off on the hydration. Recognizing that our brain trust might be retarded, drunk or simply lazy, if this picks gets us out of Sanchez it's likely to be better than any bust RB, Guard or TE they might have picked without the benefit of getting rid of Sanchize. What most of us are happy about is we aren't getting addition by subtraction with the 9th or 13th pick, we actually waited until the 2nd round. Granted Idzik and Rex were probably sniffing glue when they didn't consult with the Stamford Dean of Students when they drafted Richardson but as a Jets fan you have to look at this pick as shit failing in your lap, we just hit the lottery.
