You can't go into a season with no good options at all at QB and right now that's what the Jets have: no good options. Garrard is ancient and often-injured, Sanchez is a walking disaster area at this point who was almost booed out of the Garden the other night, McElroy is a clipboard holder with no potential at all and Tebow somehow is worse than all of the above.
Going into the season with the current QB depth chart is a good way to fill less than half the stadium the whole year... And lord knows Woody wont have that.
Don't see Philly going Geno. Jax is going to dictate Philly's selection. Fisher or Jordan.....Philly get's what's Jax doesn't take.
I agree with this. Same goes for any quarterback. I'd much rather trade down, but if the Jets are sold on any of these quarterbacks, take them at 9 or 13 and don't look back. No position will help the Jets turn around more both short and long-term than a quarterback. I am not sold on any of these quarterbacks. If we trade down and grab Manuel or someone in the 20's, I'd have no issue though.
Yea learn from St Louis. They picked Bradford and passed on RG3 because of it. Dont stop trying till you find a good QB.
The move by the Rams last year was surprising. They could have picked RGIII to put some competitive pressure on Bradford this year and then made a killing in this draft one way or the other. If Bradford works out then they have the choice of trading either for multiple 1st round picks. If Bradford kind of sits where he is then they have the option to trade him for a 1st and move RGIII in. If Bradford fails then they move RGIII in and go to end game on Bradford. Very short-sighted move on the part of the Rams last year and that's the wrong division to be short-sighted in right now. Just imagine where the Rams would be sitting right now headed into this draft with a good QB to trade and almost everybody in the top 10 looking for a QB? They could almost name their price.
Good post and I agree, although I'm basing this on videos from draftbreakdown. The fantasy numbers look great but watching the "tape", there are an incredible amount of passes thrown near or behind the line of scrimmage. It doesn't look like he's asked to go through many progressions and when he does have to throw down field, he locks on to Austin or Steadman and waits for them to get open. Playing the role of armchair scout, I question his ability to run an NFL offence and I felt he had poor pocket presence. I'll echo others on this thread and state that Glennon is the guy I like.
Probably a mistake for him to have tweeted this.. Manish Mehta @MMehtaNYDN 1h RT @GenoSmith_12 Want to thank all those so called "experts" who say I can't be NFL QB. Thurs will be a special day but work has only begun
U won't find a good starting option in this draft other then Smith and to take him in the first is not wise.
Is that his twitter? And was he hacked? The internet is like a cesspool these days and I don't believe anything I read 2 days before the draft.
Why? Because of supposed "value"? If you think he can be a good NFL QB, then you take him without hesitation. Who cares if you would rather take him in the 20s and have an extra 3rd rounder. If you believe in him enough, then you draft him. And if you draft him, you better be all in on him- surround him with offensive talent at all costs. Id honestly love if we drafted Geno and Tavon.
